By SANDY GERENCSER Tiger Cream, That is the Warriors favorite kind of pie, and they were determined to have a big piece of it Friday night. They appeased their craving by thrashing their arch rival, 67-58, and stretched their NLC record to 2-0. The opening tip off went to the Tigers, who made it good for two, and got their only lead of the evening. The Warriors leaped to a 8-2 lead before Warsaw knew what happened. The mighty Warriors just kept building momentum and building their score as they finished the first quarter, 20-8. The spirited Wawasee fans were wild as the second quarter opened. The Warriors really hustled in the quarter. They were held to two field goals, but capitalized on free throws as they got 12 of them. The Warriors were up for the game and they really proved it as they led 36-22 at the half. JV falls to Warsaw Tigers; downs Trojans By SANDY GERENCSER The Warriors played two great games this past week end, but were handicapped by the absence of sophomore Larry Allen due to illness. He is one of the team’s leading scorers. Jerry Lambert’s JV team played a close game against Warsaw and gave them a real scare, but couldn’t get their score up as they fell to the Tigers, 31-35. Steve Troup made a fantastic showing as he racked up 18 points to become high scorer for the Warriors. Del Acton came in next with 9 points. Warsaw led at the close of the first quarter 12-8. Wawasee got a great attack going td pull to a lead of 20-15 at the half. Warsaw came right back though, ready to play ball. They led at the close of the third period 26-22 and held on to the end to defeat the Warriors 35-31. The Warriors bounced back Saturday night to beat the Triton Trojans, 43-32. Dave Wollman was high scorer for Wawasee with 12 points. Chad Singrey sewed eight and Dale Ganz and Gary Dean each had six. The Warriors got the jump on the Trojans in the first quarter, 16-3. Warriors trounce Trojans Saturday
By SANDY GERENCSER Bob Heady’s mighty Warriors defeated Triton Saturday night, 66-45. The young Trojan team was really no match for the taller, more experienced Warriors. Wawasee started out with a bang, but had to net two field goals before they got the third one to score due to calls against them. This didn’t bother them though as they jumped to a 16-8 lead at the close of the first quarter. The second quarter was dominated by the Warriors. Triton just couldn’t get good penetration against the Warrior defense. Wawasee held the lead at the half, 26-14. The Warriors really came to life in the third period, but so did the Trojans. Both teams scored 19 points in the quarter, but the Warriors still held a strong 12 point lead at the end, 45-33. Coach Heady saw the weakening of Triton and decided to play subs in the final quarter. He hoped to keep the score down so as not to wipe the Trojans out of the gym. However subs look for points too, and they ran the Warrior lead up to 21 points to stomp the Trojans, 66-45. Jim Stout led Warrior scoring with 17 points, but Greg Fidler was right behind him with 16. Chris Paulus made an excellent showing as he netted nine points in the fourth quarter and Mark Smith was next with eight. The Warriors will battle with Northridge on December 21. They will also participate in the Holiday Tourney on December 28 and 29. Other teams involved
