Three members of one family were killed in two seperate accidents last Thursday. Dead are: Harold J. Rosser, 19, r 1 Milford; His mother, Mrs. Donald M. (Rebecca Fae) Hatfield, 50, r 1 Pierceton; And, his stepfather, Donald M. Hatfield, 58, r 1 Pierceton. Rosser died when his auto left the road and crashed into a tree, was torn in half on impact and the part carrying Rosser was thrown into a second tree. The accident took place at 5:42 p.m. on county road 1350 N, west of Milford. The Hatfields, who were married on December 2, were killed at the east edge of Goshen on US 33 as they were en route to that Elkhart county town to make funeral arrangements for Rosser. Their car went out of control and was struck broadside by an approaching vehicle. Both were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident which occurred at 10:12 p.m. Killed Instantly Police reports show young Rosser was killed instantly. He was thrown nearly 100 feet into a field after his 1966 Chevrolet Corvette disintegrated after hitting the trees. State troopers Larry Clodfelter and Larry Yeiter said Rosser was eastbound at a high rate of speed. The Corvette went out of control, skidded some 315 feet, crossed the centerline and was sheared in half after hitting a tree in the yard of the Alvin Stutzman residence.
