'Cautious optimism’ in RV industry: Bibler

In face of what appears to be a slow-down in the recreational vehicle industry due to the energy crisis. Barth, Inc., manufacturer of a deluxe selfcontained motor home, has sufficient orders to keep its Milford plant humming throughout the holidays. The word came from Rick Bibler, assistant to the company’s president Mike Umbaugh, upon his return from the annual Louisville, Ky., RVI show. “Ordinarily we close for two weeks about this time of year,” Bibler said, “but for anyone without a planned vacation, we are working right through the holidays.” Bibler said he, Mr. Umbaugh, John Krusoe, Fred Wilcox and Sam Cole, sales representatives, answers /-j to turkey questions! —by Martha Logan 1 rfWW Q. How do you know the size of tlirkey you will need? A. This depends upon how many people there will be for dinner. Allow pounds per person of the regular turkey and I- 1 /2 to 2 pounds of the already stuffed turkey. This guide assures generous servings for dinner with enough left over for the next day dishes. Q. How do you carve a turkey? Just before dinner is no time to hunt directions! A. Carving directions with * step-by-step illustrations now appear on the giblet bags in Deep Basted Butterball Swift’s Premium Turkeys. ' This help for the carver on one side of the bag and cooking directions on the other side for the cook are welcomed by those who know all about turkey and especially for those who don’t.

attended the Louisville show. Mr. Bibler said dealer attendance at the show was down this year, but that there was considerable interest in the seminars held at Louisville. He described the attitude of most dealers as one of “conservative optimism.” A cautious attitude prevails, as many dealers look to the future not knowing where the industry is going. Most certainly there is an unknown factor, especially in the RV industry, as a result of the energy crisis, Bibler said, but that most dealers left the Louisville show buoyed up that the market might assume a new dimension, but certainly there would be recreational vehicles sold in the months to come.
