Natural enemies kill National Forest timber According to Forest Service data, trees containing about six billion board feet of National Forest sawtimber — timber suitable for manufacturing lumber and plywood — are killed each year by insects, disease, fire and wind. This is equivalent to about half the total volume of timber harvested from Forest Service lands in fiscal year 1972, and is enough to build some 400,000 homes. — UNS Leesburg driver hits deer A deer was struck and killed on SR 13, two miles north of North Webster, by Samuel J. Lundy, 30, r 1 Leesburg, Thursday night at 10:25. Lundy reported the accident to the county police department and damage was set at $350 to the auto.
