Warriors led the Eagles most of the game the lead changed hands often and the score was tied 11 times. The Eagles took the opening tip off and made it good for two but the Warriors took the lead after two quick shots, one each for Dave Hamilton and Jim Stout. Wawasee retained a lead of 18-14 at the end of the first quarter after shooting seven of fourteen shots for 50 per cent. The second period found a small lead bouncing back and forth between the two fine teams. With but a few seconds left in the half, Greg Fidler swished a shot to send the Warriors to the locker room in the lead with a score of 34-33. The Warriors entered the third quarter with enthusiasm building momentum. The Warriors got a lead of 42-36 after sinking their first four baskets, but the Eagles soon began to flap their wings. Columbia City started to crawl back and cut the Warrior lead to

four points after converting a one point technical foul against Wawasee. Soon the Warrior lead was cut to 50-49 and the Eagles took the lead with three foul shots and a field goal to enter the fourth quarter with a 54-50 lead. The Warriors fought to get a lead and with 4:14 left in the game they led 63-60. The final four minutes proved disastrous to the Warriors as Columbia City scored 17 points to Wawasee’s four. Tad Chamberlin led the Warriors in scoring with 24 points with Jim Stout and Greg Fidler adding 16 and 11 respectively. The Warriors will go up against Concord on December 7 at Wawasee. The two teams ran close throughout the first half but the Eagles held a slight lead at the end of each period. At the end of the first quarter it was 7-6 and at the half it was 18-16. The Warriors couldn’t hit too well in the first half and the third quarter found the Warriors scoring but five points to Columbia City’s thirteen. The fourth period began with a score of 31-21; the Eagles leading. The Warriors started coming back in the fourth period however and scored 13 points to the Eagles 11 but it just wasn't enough to catch the soaring Eagles. Chad Singrey led the Warrior scoring with seven points, followed closely by Larry Allen and Steve Troup both with six points and Dave Wollman with five. The next game for the Warriors is at home December 7 against Concord at 6:45.

Wawasee swimmers sink New Prairie

By SANDY GERENCSER Tom Rankin’s Warriors came on strong Thursday night at Wawasee against New Prairie winning nine of 11 events for a final score of 102 to 59. They lost only the 100 freestyle and the 200 freestyle to New Prairie. First place winners for the tankmen in the 400 freestyle relay were Brain Simmons, Mike Grotz, Tim Campbell and Jeff Miller with a time of 4:07.09. The other relay team composed of Clem Lisor, Mike Bitner, Tim Campbell and Matt Gray took the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:54.6. Individual winners for the Warriors were Matt Gray in the

Tim Campbell took the 100 backstroke in 1:07.3 and in the 100 fly was Mike Bitner with 1:09.08. Brain Simmons swam a time of 5:52.05 to win the 500 freestyle for the Warriors. Joe Elam dove for 154.5 points to win the one meter diving event. The fan support for the swimmers was great as they filled the stands at the high school pool to witness the tremendous victory. The Warriors’ next meet is with Howe on December 8 at Wawasee. Warriors win wrestling clash By SANDY GERENCSER The Wawasee wrestling team, coached by Terry Frank, defeated Lakeland in their opener by a score of 30-12. The Warriors decisioned eight of 13 classes and won one class by a forfeit. Winning for the Warriors in the 98 pound class was Steve Hoopingarner, 7-1; in the 105 pounds Dave Doll, 9-6; in the 112 pounds Russ Kell, 4-0; in the 119 pounds category Alex Labra, 5-2; Vic Labra was defeated in the 126 pound class by a score of 04 and Sam Ludwig was also defeated in the 132 pounds, 0-8. Jesse Stevens started the Warriors’ winning string by winning the 138 pound class, 2-1. He was followed by Joe Melendez in the 145 pound class, 84; Doug Brown in the 155 pound class, 4-1; Dave Schopf in the 167 pounds, 3-2. Gary Francis lost the 177 pound class, 3-5, and Mike Wollman lost the 185 pound, 5-6. Mitch Ousley got a forfeit. The fine junior varsity team also won their match with Lakeland by a score of 33-27. They got two pins and gave up two. The Warriors also got two forfeits and only gave up one. Boys getting pins for Wawasee were Nelson Preston and Jerry Yoder. Other wrestlers who won by a decision were Jeff Hoerr, Ron Beer, Randy Rinker, and Dave Denny and Steve Lippman won by forfeit.
