A number of three and four vear-olds of the day care center, lakeland Community Services, Jnc were visited Friday morning by Syracuse chief of police Orville Vanderßeyden at the center’s location at Calvary United Methodist church south of Syracuse. The 14 registered children at the center, studying safety this , v #k, were told by the chief of haw the police officers are children’s friends. The day care center opened on October 1 of this year with hours being 6:30 a.m. to 6 pm.

Indiana district II rural youth installs officers

The 1974 district II Indiana rural youth officers were recently installed at a formal dinner-dance in Columbia City. District II is composed of Koscuisko, Whitley, Allen, Elkhart, LaGrange, Noble, Stueben and DeKalb counties. The new officers are: President — Judi Hinen of Columbia City

Mrs. Hearn serves as head teacher for the youth. Other teachers are Mrs. Richard Lemberg and Mrs. Philip Esenwein. There are also several volunteers who assist in the various duties needed to care for the youngsters. A spokesman this week said volunteers wishing to help are invited to call or visit at the center.

Island Chapel cemetery fence is damaged What has been termed as a “bad case of vandalism" was reported at the Island Chapel cemetery in the Hastings community.
