AMONG THE photographs given us by Mrs. Bockman was the one above of the band. Her comment was that we might like to publish it to see if anyone remembers the band at this time. There is no date on the back of this photo but our guess is that it too comes from the early 1900’s. MR. AND MRS. Wade E. Mishler of Milford entertained the following persons in their home on Thanksgiving Day for dinner — Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Mishler of Milford. Mrs. Agnes Grose and Earl Sutton of Leesburg and Mrs. Gregory Mishler and son. Ryan of Bremen. The dinner also marked the observance of the Mervin Mishlers’ 62d wedding anniversary. week at the Knights of Columbus Hall in South Bend. Sessions will be from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. CHRISTMAS decorations went up in Milford Tuesday morning to welcome all who are loing their shopping in Milford this year. Speaking of Christmas, a great big thank you goes to those who purchased gifts for the Mental Health program this year . . . isn’t it nice to know someone will have a Merry Christmas because you cared enough to share your Christmas? THERE was excitement in Our Town on Monday when the oil heating stove in the apartment above the Branding Iron Bar blew up and smoke and soot was spread all over the apartment. The fire department was called and responded with two trucks, however, there was no fire. RON SMITH turned 26 on Tuesday, and when he got his breakfast at Augsburger’s. it came with a small lighted candle standing in the toast IT WAS good to see Mrs. Leon (Betty) Young up and about this week after recent surgery. Betty, a M-J gal, visited the office on Tuesday. CHICAGO seemed to be the popular place to be on Saturday. Mrs. Herbert (Myrtle) Felkner

and Mrs. Richard (Karlene) Felkner were there. . . Mrs. Lois Gilbert, Mrs. Dorothy Kitson, Miss Joyce Halsey and Miss Sharon Gilbert were there. . . And, the three daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hollar — Mrs. John (Shirley) Connolly, Mrs. Jim (Margie) Brooks and Mrs. Max (Mary) Duncan were there And in case you haven’t guessed the Gilberts and the Hollar girls ran into one another. Proving again it’s a small world! THE MILFORD Lions club members are hard at work selling their grapefruit. They say it’s Texas Ruby Red and it’s very, very sweet. REV. AND Mrs. Ralph Karstedt have returned home after attending a retreat in Rochester the first part of this week. MILD TEMPERATURES seem to be holding which is good since with the energy crisis heating oil will be scarce this winter. Many concerned citizens have been insulating, having furnaces checked and are turning off a light here and there ~to help conserve. DO YOU know Ron Baumgartner will reach the ripe old age of 30 tomorrow? Now he’s “over the hill!’’ Minor < damage in mishap Minor damage was listed in a two-vehicle collision at 9:30 a.m. Friday on West Main street in Syracuse. Vehicles involved were a 1969 Chevrolet truck operated by Carl F. Godfrey, 58, 100 High street, Syracuse, and a 1973 Volkswagen driven by Steven Sheline, 24, Rochester. The mishap occurred in the 100 block of West Main street as Godfrey backed his truck while parking in front of the Syracuse Hardware, striking the Volkswagen which was emerging from the alleyway at the time. Sheline reported he could not back his vehicle in time to avoid collision. Syracuse police listed $lO damage to the Sheline vehicle and no damage to the Chevrolet truck. < LAKELAND LOCAL Syracuseans enjoying Thanksgiving dinner in the Dave Pavy home at Lowell included Mr. and Mrs. James Butt, Steve Butt and family, Mr. and Mrs. Kaleel Juday, Mrs. Lois Schleeter and Fredona Passarelli. Mr. and Mrs. George Butt of South Bend also attended. Angela Pavy spent the Thanksgiving vacation in Syracuse.
