NLC banquet held on Thursday at Wawasee
The Wawasee Warriors served as hosts for the annual Northern Lakes Conference fall banquet held last Thursday night in the commons of the high school and along with Plymouth and Warsaw, received first place trophies for tying at 7-1 during the football season at the awards program which followed in the school’s auditorium. Although the Warriors were undefeated in conference play they forfeited their November 7 game to Warsaw in order to play in the state play-offs against Blackford on November 10. High school rules allow a team to play only one football game per week. Wawasee had previously defeated Plymouth and Plymouth had defeated Warsaw giving all three teams a share in the championship. Other members of the eightteam conference are Rochester, North Wood, Bremen, Concord and Manchester. > The Warriors placed third in baseball, fifth in cross country and sixth in tennis for the season for fourth place in total point standings. Six On Team The Warriors received six places on the NLC first team. Bruce Korenstra, Mark Reiff and Mike Vanlaningham were named to the offense team with Reiff, Vanlaningham and Doug Brown being named to the defense. additional Warriors were named to the second team. Chris Paulus and Mark Smith are on the offensive list while Brian Lemberg and Rick Dahlstrom are on the defensive team. Warriors receiving honorable mention are Rick Brannock of the offensive team and Ralph Reiff of the defensive team. Other Sports Plymouth won top honors in baseball with Warsaw second; North Wood, Rochester and Wawasee, tied for third; Manchester, sixth; Concord, seventh; and Bremen, eighth. Rochester won top honors in the cross country division with North Wood, Manchester, Warsaw, Wawasee, Bremen, Plymouth and Concord following. Rochester won the conference meet with 36 points followed by North Wood with 59, Warsaw with 70, Manchester with 85, Bremen with 140, Wawasee with 148, Plymouth with 156 and Concord with 208. Receiving medals for the first five places in the conference meet were Tom Smith of Manchester with a record time of 12:48; Keith Shank of North Wood; and Rick Alber, Scott Stocking and Jerry Freyberg, all of Rochester. Bremen won the tennis championship followed by Plymouth, Rochester, North Wood, Warsaw, Wawasee, Concord and Manchester. Singles championships were won by Border of Bremen; R. Peterson of Plymouth; and T. Hueni, Modisett and R. Hueni, all of Bremen. Hueni and Borders and Husmann and Heiser won both doubles championships for the Bremen Lions. Plymouth has 59 points in the all sports point totals through football. Warsaw is close behind with 56, Rochester has 52 and Wawasee has 46. North Wood has 44, Bremen 22, Manchester 20 and Concord nine.

Financial report for semi-final football game gives WHS $ 725 35
The financial report for the semi-final Indiana High School Athletic Association’s semi-final play-off football game shows Wawasee high school received $725.35. A total of 1,800 adult tickets were sold for a total of $3,150 and an additional 1,132 student tickets were sold for $1,132 for a total of $4,282 in receipts. Expenses totaled $1,380.60.
