Saturday during halftime ceremonies at the Indiana-Ohio State university game. Druckamiller, now of Angola,

received the I-Man award. Such awards are given by the I-Man’s Association to honor athletes who were letter winners 50 years ago. Druckamiller won his first letter in baseball at IU in 1923. He led the IU team to the conference championship in 1925 and was team captain in 1925. He was named a Big Ten second baseman. Druckamiller was also an outstanding basketball player at IU, serving as sixth man during his freshman year. When Druckamiller played with the Syracuse high school basketball team he was named to the all-state team in 1921. He is the only player from Kosciusko county to be so named. After graduating from Indiana university, Druckamiller returned to Syracuse where he coached for two years. He then went to Angola where he has served as coach and athletic director. He also coached at TriState. He is now retired. Martha Leemon honored at house warming The family of Martha Leemon surprised her on Saturday with a small house warming and welcome to Milford party. Homemade ice cream and pie were enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Leemon, Doti Leemon, Mr. and Mrs. John. Leemon and Miss Patti Wolf, all of Milford; Mrs. W. L. Weaver of Elkhart; Mr. and Mrs. Philip Hahn and sons, Philip and Jason of Nappanee; Bill Leemon of Muncie; and Kathy Leemon and Mary Ann Reynolds of Lake Village. Mrs. Leemon is residing at 303 North Henry. Perry Township club has field trip to Bluffton Perry Township Extension Homemakers club members enjoyed an all-day field trip on October 10. Sixteen members made the trip to Bluffton where they visited a candle, import and craft shop in the morning. After a dinner in a private room of a Bluffton restaurant they toured a pretzel factory. The ladies were then conducted through the research center of the Bluffton Clinic. On their return trip the ladies had supper at a Wolflake restaurant.

Helen Gushart new women's GOP leader A noon luncheon of the Kosciusko Republican Women's club executive committee met at Puckett's in Warsaw recently. A letter of resignation from Reva Moore, president, was read by Shirley Augsburger. Conforming with the constitution and by-laws Helen Gushart, first vice president, was unanimously endorsed to fill the vacancy of the president. Margaret Butts will be first vice president. Other officers are as follows: Second vice president — Pauline Jordan Third vice president — Nancy Prickett Recording secretary — Avis Gunter Corresponding secretary — Shirley Augsburger Treasurer — Jean Messmore Assistant treasurer — Helen Howard Programming the up coming meetings were discussed. There will be a meeting on November 28 in Atwood with second district chairman and . John Lehman, assistant to congressman Landgrebe, as speakers. No December or January meetings will be held. February 9 is the Lincoln Day luncheon. The speaker for March 20 is unannounced. The April 17 guest will be the young Republicans state chairman Charles Quinn and May 29 will be the election of officers and the newly elected candidates from the primary elections will be guests. Jean Messmore will head the membership drive working with Nancy Prickett.

I Syracuse Library

Story hour will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the children’s room of the library. Halloween stories will be featured. Story hour will be held each Saturday from 2 to 2:45 p.m. through the fall and winter months. All ages are invited to come. Mrs. Williams’ sixth grade class visited the library this week and the three fourth grade classes visited the children’s room. We are pleased to have the classes learn more about the library.

Snl*' * NEW SALES GIRL — Patty McCarty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Pat McCarty, r 2 Syracuse, is the new sales girl in Doug Pilcher Shoes, in uptown Syracuse. Patty is a graduate of Saint Mary’s Academy, South Bend. Dawn Young celebrates Bth birthday Dawn Young, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Young of Milford celebrated her eighth birthday Saturday with a party at her home. Games were played by those attending and a cake, in the shape of a pumpkin head, was served with ice cream and punch. Attending were Lana Beer, Laurie Barth, Christy Martindale, Rose Marie Paluchiniak of Goshen, Kandace Wilson, Sharon Bohns tedt and the honored girl’s sister Sherry. Dawn’s birthday is today (Wednesday) and she treated her classmates to cup cakes in observance of the occasion.

BPW honored National Business and Professional Women’s club week is October 21-27. All members of the Ligonier club received identification badges at their meeting Thursday night in a Ligonier restaurant. The badges will be worn by members throughout the week. A window of the Ligonier bakery has also been decorated by members. Three new members, Mrs. Carroll (Violet) Cory, Mrs. Deloss (Alvema) Maggart and Mrs. James (Betty) Pape. There were 22 members and one guest present at the meeting. Mrs. Carma Griffith, BPW district director, of Angola, was the guest speaker. Mrs. Paul Stiffner, Mrs. John Golden and Mrs. Roy Chatfield reported on their trip to Lafayette last week. They attended the BPW fall conference at Purdue university. Mrs. Jerry Troyer, a new member, also accompanied them and took part in the ceremony for new members. West Noble Chargers win The West Noble Chargers won over Fremont 2.7-20 in their Homecoming game Saturday afternoon at the West Noble high school. The game began with Fremont making the first score. Mike Meeks caught an 80 yard pass from Dennis Spidel with Gregg Schumacker making the extra point. The first score by West Noble was made by Lyle Phares. Mike Jones ran the extra two points.
