THE CHILDREN of the Milford United Methodist church will be trick or treating for UNICEF beginning at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 28. Monies raised by them will be used to send milk, medicine and medical help to suffering children in all corners of the world. DID YOU know Tim Sands entered the US Air Force on September 27? THE MILFORD Senior Citizens organization will meet at the Christian Athletic Center at 1 p.m. Sunday for a pot luck dinner. All senior citizens are invited to attend. MR. AND Mrs. Otto Wiggs and grandson Jon enjoyed a long week end. They visited several places in southern Indiana including McCormick’s Creek, Lincoln and Brown County state parks and Santa Claus. MEMBERS OF the Milford fire department considered their annual chicken BBQ a success with approximately 1,400 halves being sold. WANT TO hear about the “big one that didn’t get away?” Just ask Bob Wright about the fish he caught while on a recent vacation. It was a 25-pound catfish caught in Missouri. The pair
fought 45 minutes before the catfish was brought to land. IN LAST week’s listings of the ' seventh grade officers at the Milford junior high school, it should have read: treasurer — Mark Sumpter and secretary — Doug Weisser. IT’S THE season for hayrides! We know of two in Milford last Saturday night. One group ended up at Leon Tucker’s and the other at Fred Weisser’s. DID YOU notice the “Scalp ’Em Warriors” sign over the goal posts at Friday’s homecoming game? The artist was none other than Rhonda Graff, a junior at the school and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Graff of Our Town. Speaking of the homecoming activities, the girls sports club sold all of their chicken, the weather was perfect, the new queen is Shirley Miller of Milford and the Warriors won the game 50-0, defeating Fairfield. BUD AND Jeri Seely were off to another Lions meeting on Saturday night, this one at Pokagon state park near Angola. Both were pleasantly surprised when the new district governor of 25-B told them a couple on the other side of the room wanted to see them. Crossing the room they found Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Scott, he’s a member of the new district governor’s home club, Pleasant Lake. The Scotts are former Milford residents.. He is a charter member of the Milford Lions club and Mrs. Scott was Mrs. Seely’s fourth grade teacher. Y • The Scotts returned the visit on Sunday by attending the Firemen’s annual bar-b-que in Milford. ELMER HAAB was in the office this week with some more of those giant radishes he has become famous in the area for. The white radish weighed two pounds, seven ounces and was reported to be the largest one he has ever grown. Larry Walker is home on leave Major Larry D. Walker is home on leave following a years tour of duty with the air force in Saudi, Arabia. When reporting back to base, he will be joined by his wife, Joy, and two sons for a three year duty run in Germany. Mrs. Walker is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Walter C. Burcham of Syracuse.

Jack A. Lewallen, left and Larry Weaver, Sr., were plant leaders in the employee solicitation for the 1973 Kosciusko County United Fund.
Kick-off meeting today at Syracuse for UF
Ringmaster Jerry Ganshorn presided over the kick-off of the Syracuse community division of the $210,000 Kosciusko County United Fund. The kick-off for the Syracuse community was held at 12 o’clock noon today (Wednesday) at the South Shore country club. The goal for the Syracuse division is $4,835.00. At the kick-off Ganshorn said, “The allocat ions for the Syracuse division of the United Fund are $11,400 for three of our agencies alone. These agencies are Turkey Creek Senior Citizens, GoshenSyracuse Campfire Girls Council, and the Lakeland Youth Center. This does not include the United Fund support for the Red Cross, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, USO, Cardinal Center, Salvation Army, or Hotline, Inc. We truly get a ‘Fair Shake’ from the United Fund and we must all do our fair

Camp Fire Girls elect officers Members of the KoKi Camp Fire Girls at Syracuse held their first meeting last week at the home of leader Mrs. Tom Leonard. A new member, Linn Van Gundy, was welcomed. New officers dected were: President — Laura Kroh Secretary — Linn Van Gundy Treasurer — Angie Reed Scribe — Catherine Leonard Caller — Jan Miller During the meeting, plans for coming activities were discussed and a new project introduced, that of Jean Art (hand embroidery of jeans.) Refreshments were served at the conclusion of the meeting.
