THE MAIL-JOURNAL Wed., Oct. 3,1973 Crusaders hold September cook out The Crusaders class of the Syracuse Church of God held its last meeting at the home <rf Mr. and Mrs. Roger Kern at which time a chicken barbecue was held. Evening devotions were by Mrs. Jerry Stutzman reading a scripture from Psalm 145:1-9 and Joe Hibschman led in prayer. In the absence of the president and vice president, Gary Firestone presided over the business meeting. ' The class decided to sponsor an evening of Christmas caroling for the entire church on December 19. Mrs. Arnold Grindle and Mrs. Kern are in charge of refreshments. Arrangements for transporting of the youth are to be made by Mrs. Richard Coy and Mrs. Stutzman. ; The 12 members present responded to roll call by answering “What do you hope to accomplish this church year?” There were 10 children in attendance. The October meeting will be a Halloween party at the Hibschman home. Fellowship time is held Sunday The Syracuse Church of God held a fellowship time following the Sunday evening worship service in honor of Rev. and Mrs. George Yerger and sons. The Yergers are leaving this week to pastor in Plainfield, Pa. Mrs. Yerger is the former Martha Mae Firestone, daughter of the Louis Firestones of Syracuse. Mrs. William Stutzman was in charge of the evening arrangements. WCTU annual meeting held at Fort Wayne Kosciusko County Woman’s Christian Temperance Union was represented at the annual meeting at Saint John’s United Church of Christ, Fort Wayne, by North Webster Union — Mrs. Joe Barrett, Mrs. Lawrence Wilcoxson; Syracuse-Milford Union — Mrs. Glen Morehouse; Warsaw Union —Miss Miriam Kutz and Winona Lake Union by Mrs. Herbert Eberhardt, Mrs. Luella Parker, Mrs.<, Flay Korthal, Mrs. Russell F. Harshman, Miss Catherine Clayton and Mrs. James W. Tutwiler. At the close of the meeting, the state organization received an invitation to Indianapolis for the 100th anniversary of the Union. A letter was read from Mayor Lugar and other invitations were also read coming from the state capitol.
