OBITUARIES
Mrs. Gertie Ann Jones Funeral services were conducted Monday at 1:30 for Mrs. Gertie Ann Jones, 77, 1210 Wilson Ave., Goshen, sister of Amos Orn of Milford, who passed away Thursday at 2:15 p.m. She died at the Goshen hospital of an apparent heart attack following a fall down a flight of stairs. She was admitted to the hospital around noon. Mrs. Jones was born on April 6, 1896 to William and Jemima Orn at Milford. She was united in marriage to Harvey Fisher and he preceded her in death on February 19, 1946. She then married Fred Jones on March 5, 1950. He survives. ; Mrs. Jones lived all her life in the Goshen area and formerly worked at Meyers drug store, the Dixie restaurant, Goshen Rubber Co. and the Ameritan Laundry. She was also a 'inember of the First United Church of Christ, . was active in the church’s Alpha class, a member of the Sisters of the Skillet and Goshen’s Senior Citizens. Surviving with the husband and the brother of Milford is a son, Glenwood D. Fisher, Houghton Lake, Mich.; three daughters, Mrs. Berlin (Naomi) Wilson, Hillsboro, Ohio, Mrs. Earl (Jerrie) Comstock, Goshen aijt Mrs. Harold (Wanda) Wyland, Elkhart; two stepsons, Preston Jones, Robbins Lake, Mich., Nestor (Bud) Jones, Columbus,

Ohio; four stepdaughters, Mrs. Denver (Esther) Binkley, Laurelville, Ohio, Mrs. Ed (Clova) Woodley, Bangor, Mich., Mrs. Clara Jones, Sturgis, Mich., and Mrs. Lena Reynolds, Bedford; 14 grandchildren; 12 greatgrandchildren; 19 stepgrandchildren; and 24 stepgreatgrandchildren. The services were conducted with Rev. William Howenstine officiating with interment in the Milford cemetery. Mrs. Mereia Watson Mrs. Mereia 0. Watson, 73, Parker, mother of Donald Watson, r 1 Leesburg, passed away Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. at Miller’s Merry Manor. She had been a patient at the nursing home for the past 10 months. Death was attributed to complications. Mrs. Watson was born May 7, 1900 to Bert and Mazie (Lindsey) Swingley in Deleware county. She was united in marriage to Gilbert Watson and he preceded her in death on October 1, 1969. She was a member of the Wesleyan church at Winchester and Gideon Auxiliary. Surviving with the son of Leesburg are three granddaughters; two greatgrandchildren; and one brother, Clarence Swingley of Greenwood. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at a Parker funeral home with Rev. Lester Henry officiating. Interment was in the Union cemetery at Parker. Mrs. Myrtle Black Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday for Mrs. Myrtle M. Black, 84, Fairview Manor, Bucyrus, Ohio, mother of Mrs. Margaret E. Billian of Leesburg. Mrs. Black passed away at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday at her home with death
being caused by complications following an illness of five months Mrs. Black was born to Jonas and Elizabeth (Leonhardt) Brown on February 2, 1889 at New Washington, Ohio. She was united in marriage to Ross Black on May 18, 1912 and he preceded her in death on November 11, 1964. She had been a resident of the Columbus and Bucyrus, Ohio, areas all her life. She Was also a member of the First Presbyterian church at Bucyrus. Surviving with the daughter of Leesburg are two sons, Robert of Lexington, Ohio and George of Bucyrus Qhio; eight grandchildren; " 10 great-grand-children; one brother, Freeman Brown of Cleveland, Ohio. Services were conducted at a Bucyrus, Ohio, funeral home with Rev. Russell Mase officiating and interment was in the Oakwood cemetery at Bucyrus. Joseph Unsicker Joseph H. Unsicker, 68, r 1 Nappanee, passed away Sunday at his home at 6 a.m. He had been in ill health for the past 10 months with a heart disease. His wife was the former Mary Hieber of Milford. Mr. Unsicker was born on May 13, 1905 to Joseph N. and Eunice (Walter) Unsicker at Eureka, 111. He was united in marriage to Mary Hieber on February 27,1939 and she preceded him in death on May 2,1962. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include two sons, Irvin of Bremen and Terry, at home; one daughter, Mrs. Thomas (Carol) Richards of Mishawaka; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ray Oberly of Bremen and Mrs. Jeff Clauss of Woodburn; three brothers, George, Mesa, Ariz., and Edwin and Samuel of Bremen. Services were conducted at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at a Nappanee funeral home with Rev. Marvin Gaskill officiating. Interment was in the Union Center cemetery. Heather Shay Drake Heather Shay Drake was stillborn Tuesday, Oct. 2, to Douglas and Carla (Speicher) Drake, box 541 Milford, at the Goshen hospital. Survivors include the parents of Milford, one sister, Chantel Amber, at home; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs Carl (Bill) Speicher and Mr. and Mrs. Don Drake, all of Milford; great-grandparents, Rev. and Mrs. Howard Kreider of Milford, Wasel Gordon and Mrs. Sarah Drake, both of Syracuse, and Mrs. Pauline Speicher of Milford. Graveside services will be
conducted at 1:30 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Milford cemetery. Rev. Chad Woodburn will officiate. Toye R. Edwards Toye R. Edwards, 67, Leesburg, passed away at 8:25 a.m. Tuesday at the Leesburg post office. Efforts by the emergency unit of the fire department failed to revive Mr. Edwards. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Edwards was bpm on February 16, 1906 to Kent and Roseanna (Hale) Edwards at Pound, Va. He was united in marriage in 1929 to Bell Hashman and she survives. He was a retired coal miner and had resided in the Leesburg community since moving from Virginia 12 years ago. He was also a member of the Free Will Baptist church at Pound, Va. Surviving with the widow is his mother, Mrs. Roseanna Edwards, Pound, Va.; five daughters, Mrs. Perry (Zora) Massing, Warsaw, Mrs. Barbara Booher, Syracuse, Mrs. Deborah Popenfoose, Leesburg, Mrs. Phyllis White, Myrtle, Ore., Mrs. Bill (Jeanette) Elkins, Big Stone Gap, Va.; two sons, Gilmer, Leesburg, and Charles of Pound, Va.; 25 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Turner, Mrs. Loretta Saunder, Mrs. Doris Whanger, all of Richmond, Va.; four brothers, Dallas, 80, Onsby, all of Pound, Va., Dick Manassas, Va. He would appreciate visits or cards from his many friends, fellow firemen and co-workers. Mrs. Claude Coppes of Syracuse, Lake Wawasee, is. a patient at the Elkhart hospital where she is listed in good condition. She underwent surgery Saturday for the reduction of a hip fracture. She suffered the fracture at her home early Friday morning. John Howard, Lake Wawasee, is listed in serious condition at the Goshen hospital where he is a patient in the intensive care unit. He was admitted to the hospital after suffering a heart attack on Thursday afternoon. Robin Dust, 17, Syracuse, daughter of Mrs. Betty Dust, is listed in good condition at the Elkhart hospital where she underwent surgery for a shattered left elbow Sunday afternoon. She shattered her elbow in a fall Saturday evening. She is in room 428. Mrs. Katie Wilkinson of Syracuse remains a patient in Minnesota where she underwent major surgery last week at the Mayo clinic. Mrs. John B. Augsburger of Milford was admitted to the Elkhart hospital Wednesday, Sept. 26. She is presently unj dergoing tests and is expected to be released later in the week. Mrs. M. D. Ruple Resigns as reserve officer Larry Price of Syracuse has resigned his position as reserve officer on the Syracuse police department, a position which he has, held for several years. Price said Monday the resignation was due to increased hours at his present place of employment.
