Mount Tabor Homecoming September 30 Members of the Mount Tabor Church of God are planning a homecoming for September 30. The day’s activities will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude with a 2 p.m. worship service. Church school is set for 9:30 a.m. with the morning message to follow at 10:30 a.m. The junior and adult choirs will both be participating. At 12:30 p.m. a basket dinner will be held in the fellowsip hall with everyone invited to attend. The afternoon warship service at 2 will feature special music and the Christian experiences of former pastors. New Salem By MRS. HERB MOREHOUSE Wedding shower honors Mrs. Hobbs Mrs. Bob Hobbs, the former Miss Debbie Plank, was honored Friday evening in the fellowship hall with a wedding shower. Blue and yellow were carried'oul with the decorations. A miniature bride made from kitchen utensils centered the gift table. Contests were conducted with prizes going to Mrs. Gerald Dausman and Mrs. Phil Larimer. The new Mrs. Hobbs was assisted by her sisters, Mrs. Phil Larimer of Millersburg and Mrs. Wonda Nolan of Leesburg in opening her gifts. Several aunts and cousins from Middlebury attended the shower along with the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Ronald Hobbs of Warsaw. The serving table was lighted by blue candles and blue and yellow ribbons and the bride’s bouquet of yellow roses and baby’s breath. Whipped cream salad, social crackers, ice tea and coffee were served by the hostesses Miss Donna Moser, Mrs. Wayne Teeple and Mrs. Robert Food. A surprise box of canned food was also given the new bride. Sunday services at New Salem e The. ladies trio from the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren west of New Paris favored the New Salem congregation with two numbers of music during the morning worship hour Sunday. The songs were “God Gave Me a Song” and “Happy Jubilee.” The trio consists of Mrs. Steve Yoder, Mrs. Richard Brookins and Mrs. Richard Cripe with Mrs. Claude Elliot as accompanist. Pastor Woodbum delivered the morning message “Redeeming the Time” from Ephesians 5:1521. The evening message “Subject to Him” was from Ephesians 5:21-33. COMMUNITY NEWS Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schermerhorn were vacationing in southern Indiana for several days last week. The Schermerhorns’ daughter, Mrs. Dick Lucas and daughter Julie of Cincinnati, Ohio, spent from Thursday to Sunday with them. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Tom and Julie of South Bend called on Mrs. Edna Tom and Mrs. Emma Cripe on Sunday afternoon. A family dinner was served Monday at the New Salem church for the Tom family following the funeral of Kevin Tom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tom, Jr. The dinner was served by the Living Gospel church ladies of Nappanee and the New Salem ladies. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morehouse entertained Sunday for Miss Georgina Morehouse, a student at Marion college; Bill Newcum; Nelson Morehouse; and Mrs. Lydia Morehouse. Mr. and Mrs. Max Shively, Mrs. Inez Shively and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Morehouse attended the open house at the Leesburg Methodist church honoring Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ginther on their 50th wedding anniversary. ,-NSSam Beer of Milford spent Friday night with Tom Troup also of Milford.
