Some hobbies can be enjoyed by everyone
There are some hobbies that can be enjoyed by everyone and it’s hard to single out one person to interview when talking about these hobbies. The three that we have selected for this week are golf . .. fishing . . . and cooking out of doors.

Mom, dad and the kids can all enjoy a day on the golf course. They can all fish. And, everyone can lend a hand for a delicious meal out of doors. There are three 18 hole golf courses in the Lakeland area,
several miniature golf courses and driving ranges. Other facilities are also located near-by to serve all the family’s golfing needs. The golf course is where one forgets his frustrations and • concentrates on getting that little white ball into the proper hole in as few strokes as possible. gp* Fishing too is something the whole family can become involved in ... if the catch is big enough you can also have the main dish for the next meal. A fisherman can spend a lot on elaborate fishing tackle and bait or he can find a limb that’s good and strong, tie an inexpensive piece of line to it and start off with some fish worms he has purchased from an area bait house or dug himself. found in the lakes in the Lakeland area — bluegill, crappies, yellow perch, walleye, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, catfish, northern pike and muskellunges. The bluegill is “Mr. Big” when it comes to fish. It seems to be the favorite panfish of the nation. The bluegill can put up just as much a fight for its freedom as fish many times it size. Many love the sport of trying to outwit the bluegill. Many experts prefer minnows about an inch long for catching bluegills, however, a gob of red worms will do. Flys are also good for catching bluegills. This week end and every week end is a good time to cook out doors. Fish are even good grilled over an open fire. CAMPFIRE BEANS AND FRANKS V 4 cup (Ms stick) margarine % cup chopped onion 2 cans (16-ounces each) vegetarian baked beans 1 can (16-ounce) tomatoes 6 frankfurters, sliced 2 tablespoons prepared mustard Melt margarine in large saucepan. Add onion and saute over low heat until tender, about 5 minutes. Stir in beans, tomatoes, frankfurters and mustard. Heat through, stirring occasionally. Makes 6 servings.

HOT MEXICAN CORN BREAD 2 cups grated sharp Cheddar cheese 1 canned jalapeno peppers, seeded and finely chopped 1 cup yellow cornmeal 1 cup unsifted flour 4 teaspoons baking powder 4 teaspoon salt 4 cup (4 stick) softened margarine 1 cup milk 1 egg 1 can (12-ounce) vacuumpack whole kernel corn, drained Combine cheese and pepper in small bowl. Mix well; set aside. Blend together cornmeal, flour, baking powder and salt in mixing bowl. Add margarine, milk and egg. Beat with rotary beater until smooth. Stir in corn. Pour»4 batter into a hot greased 9-inch skillet. Sprinkle on cheese and pepper. Pour on remaining batter, spreading mixture to cover cheese. Bake at 400 degress F. about 30 minutes, or until done. Remove * from skillet and cool on wire rack. Wrap in foil when cool. To serve, place over hot coals until heated through. Makes 10 servings. Ship 28 to Bay Jammer 73 Members of Explorers Ship 28 of Syracuse went to Menominee, Mich., on July 21 and 22 and participated in Bay Jammer ’73. They won first in canoe racing, third in log rolling and large sailing and fourth in small sailing. The group visited a mystery ship which is a 100-year-old schooner before returning to Syracuse. Making the trip were skipper Dr. Jack Clark, county representative Paul Van Dyke and explorers Steve Petersen, Larry Weaver, Kirby Schlotterback, Alan Plikerd, Tim Hoppes, Bruce Clark, Louie Diehl and David Clark. The next event will be the annual Makahaki which will be held in Syracuse and is sponsored by post 67 of Warsaw. The Makahaki will be held later this month.
