Mrs. Emma Graff Mrs. Emma Graff, 91, 419 South Seventh St., Goshen, mother of Mrs. Frank (Ruth) Beer, Milford, passed away Thursday at the Goshen hospital at 12:05 a.m. She had been ill for several years and death was due to complications. Mrs. Graff was born on August 15, 1881 to John and Fannie Gauger at Tremont, 111. On January 4,1911 she was united in marriage to Oliver Graff at Saint Joseph, Mich. Mrs. Graff had been a resident of Goshen since 1932 and maintained precinct voting at her home for many years. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian church in Milford. Surviving with the daughter of Milford and the husband are seven grandchildren; 15-great-grandchildren; two half sisters, Mrs. Rose Eveland; Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. Guy Fletcher; Peking, 111. One daughter preceded her in death in 1963. Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Apostolic Christian church in Milford with Rev. Walter Steffen officiating. Interment was in the Milford cemetery. Andres Hernandez> Jr. Rosary was conducted at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Milford funeral home for Andres R. Hernandez, Jr., 21, Milford, who was killed Saturday, July 14, at 3 a.m. Mr. Hernandez was killed when he struck a Zook gravel truck on SR 15, one mile north of Leesburg. Hernandez suffered a crushed chest and internal injuries in the crash. He was born on July 9,1952 to Mr. and Mrs. Andres Hernandez, Sr., at LaFeria, Tex. He was employed by Maple Leaf Farms at Milford. Surviving with parents are six brothers and one sister. Father Baker of South Bend was in charge of the Rosary on Sunday with the body then being sent to Donna, Tex., where funeral services and interment were conducted. Goshen, until May 31, when she became a patient at the Peterson nursing home, passed away at 5 p.m. Tuesday. She was a daughter of Levi and Mary Mishler, bom March 28, 1893. She had worked at the House of Harter and at Rock Run Woolen Mills. She married Joseph Griffith in 1952 and resided in Milford until his death in 1956. Remaining are three first cousins, Mrs. Wilbur Madlem, Wakarusa, Mrs. Arthur Marshall, Elkhart, and Edgar Martin, Ligonier. Mrs. Griffith was a member of Goshen’s First Brethren church. Services were held at a Goshen funeral home at 2 p.m. Thursday. Officiating was Rev. Spencer Gentle, burial at Violett cemetery. Mrs. Frank Morehouse Word has been received of the death of Mrs. Frank Morehouse of Williston, N.D., on July 11. Mr. Morehouse preceded her in death by only six days, having passed away July 5. Mrs. Morehouse was the former Dessie Dausman. Three brothers, Bert, Irvin and Orb Dausman; two sisters Pearl and Coral preceded her in death and had lived in the Milford area. She leaves four daughters Mrs. Opal McCloughen of Goshen, Pearl, Ruby, Coral and Joan; two sons Raymond of California, and Richard of North Dakota. One daughter, Garnet, preceded her in death. Harold E. Jordan Funeral Services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday) for Harold E. Jordan, 65,1422 Woodward Ave., Elkhart. He was married to Evelyn Ousterhout of Leesburg. He passed away Sunday at 5 a.m. Death came at his summer home at Clear Lake near Three Rivers, Mich., and was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Jordan* was born on September 14, 1907 at Minneapolis, Minn., and was united in marriage to Evelyn M. Ousterhout on April 5, 1931. He owned the Jordan Construction company. Surviving with the widow is one son, Robert E., Elkhart; one daughter, Mrs. Robert W. (Joanne) Willis, Columbus, Ohio; six grandchildren; one brother, Frances, Conyers, Ga. Rev. William Cox officiated for the funeral services and interment was in the Rice cemetery. • ■ ' ' Mrs. Edythe Barker Mrs. Edythe M. Barker, 70, Goshen, former Leesburg resident, passed away Sunday at 2:30 a.m. at the Greencroft nursing center in Goshen, j She
had been a resident at the nursing home for almost two years. Mrs. Barker was born March 29,1900 at Leesburg. Her husband Claude was a well known Albion attorney and he preceded her in death on June 8,1951. She was a retired school teacher in Albion where she had lived most of her life. Survivors include a son, Philip C. Barker, Goshen; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Patricia Holftien, Waynesboro, Va.; ten grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. Chester Quear officiating. Interment was in the Ross Hill cemetery at Albion. Mrs. Cora Shultz Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Shultz, 78,603 College Ave., North Manchester, former dietician at Camp Mack in Milford, were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at North Manchester with Rev. Walter Stinebaugh, Rev. E. Paul Weaver and Rev. David Rogers officiating. Burial was in the Pleasant Hill cemetery. Mrs. ( Shultz passed away Saturday at 8:15 p.m. at the Wabash hospital. Mrs. Shultz was born on February 26,1895 to John Martin and Mary Ann (Smith) Winger at Sweetzer. She was united in marriage to Lawrence W. Shultz on June 1, 1915. She had been a resident of North Manchester since 1916, a former school teacher at Locke school, Nappanee, Bethany school, North Manchester and Liberty Mills, a dietician at Camp Mack for 30 years, was a 1922 graduate of Manchester college and was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Ann Anglin, Leesburg, Mrs. Betty Nolt, Cleveland, Ohio, and Mrs. Carole Davis, Dyer; one son, Carl, Danville, Ill.; six grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ira (Mabel) Moomaw, Sebring, Fla. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Jack Stewart and daughter of North Webster were dismissed from the Whitley County hospital late last week. Maxine Robinson of Leesburg was released from the Goshen hospital Sunday, July 15, after undergoing surgery last week. She was admitted on July 10. Mamie Black of Leesburg was admitted to the Whitley County hospital at Columbia City over the week end. Mrs. Theo Beer of Milford underwent hip surgery Friday, July 13, at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. She underwent surgery to replace the hip socket and ball with the operation being a success. Her room number is 824. John Pamer of Milford was released from the Goshen hospital Sunday, July 15, after suffering a stroke on July 10. He is presently living at Miller’s Merry Manor nursing home in Goshen but he will be moved to his son’s home, Matthew Pamer, in Milford as soon as the arrangements can be made. Mrs. Sherman Love of Syracuse remains a patient at the Parkview hospital in Fort Wayne where she is still in poor condition. Mrs. Wayne (Irene) Bucher, Milford, was admitted to the Goshen hospital Wednesday, July 11, where she was placed in traction for her back. Her room number is 557. Plummer Michael of Milford was admitted to the Goshen hospital Tuesday, July 10, after suffering from chest pains. He is currently undergoing observation. Dorothy Baer of Syracuse was admitted to the Wabash County hospital at Wabash the first of the week. She was born on Wednesday, July 11, at 10:39 a.m. at the Elkhart hospital. Shownda tipped the scales at ten pounds, seven ounces and was 22% inches long. She was welcomed home by three sisters, Sherrie, six, Shelly two years, eight months, Shanna, almost two. S2BO in damage in accident on Sunday A1970 Ford driven by Terry L. Newcomer, 17, 312 North Harrison St., Syracuse, was struck in the rear Sunday while traveling east on Pickwick road. Priscilla E. Meyers, 72,306 South Front St., Syracuse, driver of a 1973 Ford, pulled out of the Dairy Queen driveway not seeing the Newcomer vehicle, and struck him in the right rear fender. The accident occurred at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Meyers stated that the sun obscured her vision. Total estimated damage of the Newcomer vehicle was SBO and to Mrs. Meyers’ car was S2OO. GI BILL Education or training under the current GI Bill must be completed within eight years of separation from military service or by May 31, 1974, whichever date is later. — CNS

The council received the highest membership award presented to a local council from the state Knights of Columbus, during the evening festivities. Taylor is pictured here accepting the award, presented by a state officer. Approximately 50 persons attended the party at the Taylor home.
