Fallen tree cuts service Friday p.m. A large oak tree fell over a 12,500 volt power line at 2:15 p.m. Friday near the Paul Abel residence on North Shore drive, Syracuse Lake, cutting electrical service for over two hours, according to Jay Peffley, manager of the NIPSCo office in Syracuse. A high wind toppled the tree, Peffley said. He said about 250 customers were out of service during repairs to the line. Brake locks causing collision Vehicles operated by Charles J. Richards, 59, r 1 Leesburg, and Susan G. Elyea, 31, Lombard, 111., collided Tuesday at 10:40 a.m. on SR 13, two miles north of North Webster. The collision resulted in injuries to both drivers. Richards was northbound on SR 13 in a van truck when a vehicle ahead of him slowed to almost a stop before making a right turn off the road. Richards slowed to avoid the vehicle and his left front brake locked causing the van to veer into the southbound lane. Mrs. Elyea steered to the right leaving the highway in her effort to miss the van but was unable to do so. State police Sgt. John Hammersley and county police Capt. Roger Fellows stated the collision occurred eight feet off the road on the west berm. Damage to the Richards van was set at S9OO and the Elyea car was a total loss with damage set at $2,200. Richards was treated at the Goshen hospital for lacerations and fractured ribs and Mrs. Elyea was treated at Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw for abrasions and lacerations. RODERICKS VISIT MILFORD RELATIVES Mrs. Bette Roderick of Peoria, DI., and Mrs. Tom J. Roderick, Karen and Jennifer of Bloomington, 111., visited with Mrs. Tom J. Roderick’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Motts, and other Milford relatives over the week end. Mrs. Tim Motts and Joni of Elkhart were also week end guests in the Motts home. , ‘ Motts home were Harry Thomas of Millersburg and Jeff Motts of Plymouth. Senior Citizens regular meeting The Milford Senior Citizens group met at the fire station for their regular monthly meeting on July 8. The* 19 persons present enjoyed a bountiful pot luck dinner for the noon meal. Guests for the day were Rev. and Mrs J. Duane Beals and his family from the Bethel Church of the Brethren. Rev. Beals gave some readings before the group. After the business of the day the group adjourned till their August 12 meeting at the fire station. VISIT IN SYRACUSE Mr. and Mrs. Vince Hamada and daughter, Angela, from Valrico, Fla., spent from June 22 to July 11 with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Smith at Syracuse and the David Paynes at North Webster. They also visited with the Mike Smiths, Mark and Peggy Donoho at South Bend and with relatives in Ohio and Pennyslvania.
