IS THE CHURCH PART OF VOUR LIFE? A GOOD KID Jag Sunday Hebrews 4:12-16 John 5:1 ’ 5 Monday J °b 2:6-10, 13-15 "-s- , Tuesday 19:25-27 *Ww Wednesday Matthew 1I 9:18-26 Thursday I Matthew 11:1-6 Friday • John *•s/•**' 4:27-39 Saturday « I Thessalonians It’s nice to see a headline about a good kid—because that’s what most of them are. Os course, his, parents worry about him. That’s one of the reasons he is a good kid. He’s had plenty of opportunity to learn how much they love him ... how much they care. They have given him many things, some at considerable sacrifice to themselves. Fortunately, though, their giving didn’t end with material gifts. They have given him ideals . . . standards . . . principles. These are the intangible treasures that you aren’t likely to acquire if you didn’t find them at home. And they have given him a faith. It was their faith first. At home and in church, they shared it with him. Out of it the ideals and standards and principles naturally grew. Yes. He’s a good kid—due to the Lord. THE MAIL-JOURNAL Wed., July 18,1973 • ■ w 'fl!' ‘ 'll ■gkl ’ixL RECENTLY AWARDED BRONZE STAR — CW2 Gene Miller, son of Mr. and MrsHerman C. Miller, r 1 box 117 Milford, was recently awarded the bronze star with the second oak leaf cluster for distinguished actions beyond the call of duty while he was working as a CID agent in the Republic of Viet Nam. The citation reads in part: For meritorious achievement for volunteering to rush a building in which an armed kidnapper holding a hostage had barricaded himself. Despite extreme danger to himself CW2 Miller made numerous attempts to rush the building and force entry to the building. The kidnapper was apprehended by a «CID agent inside the building and the hostage was freed without harm. The success of this mission could have not been achieved had CW2 Miller not volunteered to subject himself to the hazardous attempts of rushing the building from the outside. Throughout the action he conducted himself with courage, objectivity and professionalism. His actions reflect great credit upon himself, his command, and the United States Army. CW2 Miller and his wife Luise are presently stationed at Fort Gordon, Ga., where he still works as a CID agent for the army. - Their address is 412 Warren road, Augusta, Ga., 30907. New Salem By MRS.
