IS THE CHURCH PART I OF YOUR LIFE? | Dave calls this his wedding picture. He was best man when Jane and I were married, and a prouder boy you'll never see. He loved Jane from the first. He never thought of her as a stepmother. Jane's zest for life, her merry ways, her love for God were happily contagious. The unhappy years we'd known faded. Soon we were marching off to church with her as though it were our own idea. Tomorrow Dave will be married, and I'll be his best man. He and Susan pre a fine couple. Jane and I don't worry about their marriage. Their relationship has a depth that •r ■ comes from a mutual love for God and His Church. In the years ahead, their church will be a bedrock of understanding and strength. The Church is the starting point for the happiness that every family needs. THE MAIL-JOURNAL Wed., June 13,1973 RUSS MARTIN Russ Martin at Christian church June 20 Sports broadcaster and minister for 25 years with one congregation, Dr. Russ Martin comes as the national director of evangelism for the Revival Fires ministry to lead a rally of inspiration at the Milford Christian church beginning at 7:30 p.m. next Wednesday, June 20. Sharing with him will be the Southland Gospel Couriers, famed singing foursome from Lexington, Ky. The Joe Wrights, Jim Cottrell and Dave Waits combine for pleasing gospel songs geared to bless listeners everywhere. Martin, after 26 years with the thirst Christian church in Miami, Okla., is dedicating his time to evangelism. He went to Miami at the age of 26 after five years as a nationally known evangelist. He has done play by play for college and high school football, basketball, baseball and golden gloves boxing for the past 24 years. He has interviewed such sports figures as Casey Stengle, Willy Mays, Leo Durocher, Micky Mantel and Steve Owens on his own television sports show “Russ’ Corner”. The format of the rally includes great music by the Couriers and a stirring, inspiring message by Martin. An emphasis on the total work of Revival Fires, seen each Sunday by millions on more than 156 television stations . . . and with a 22-faceted ministry that includes worldwide overseas crusades, will be made at the close of the special rally night. Eldon Wilson, minister of the Milford Christian church, is inviting people far and wide to attend. More than a half million persons receive the Revival Fires magazine each month'— many of them in this area. Revival Fires is seen each Sunday in this area on channel 28. The minister points out that the rally is altogether undenominational in character, with people from any and all churches, or those with no church affiliation, especially welcomed.
