Wawasee Warriors stopped by Plymouth in Regional
The Wawasee Warriors basebaD team stopped Marian of Mishawaka in the afternoon game of the regional tournaments and then lost to Plymouth 5-0 in the evening game. The regional was played at Bendix Park in South Bend last Saturday. During the afternoon game Wawasee scored eight points while Mishawaka Marion scored seven points. The Warriors scored two points in the' first inning, one in the third inning, one in the fifth inning and four in the seventh. All of Marian’s runs came in the final inning.
Warriors in fourth place in regional golf match
The Wawasee Warriors under coach Rudy Cesco finished in fourth place at the regional golf meet held the past week in LaPorte at the Beechwood golf course. < South Bend Adams won the match with a total score of 299 with Elkhart Central in second place with 315. Wawasee and Fort Wayne Concordia tied for third with 317 with Concordia winning
Wawasee Prep to have summer gymnastics
Wawasee Prep school, for the fourth year, is opening it’s campus to the sports minded youth of the area. The Prep summer program consists of a variety of sports beginning on July 1 and running through July 28. A special gymnastic program is being offered for July 1-7. Northern Lakes Conference team Plymouth stopped the Warriors during the final game. Plymouth’s Kevin Chaney held the Warriors scoreless as he hurled a two-hitter. Bill Fawley and Dwight Dean were on the mound for the Warriors. During the afternoon game Warriors Mark Smith and Greg Fidler each hit for two of the team’s total hits. This match ended the Warriors 1973 season. Scramble winners at Maxwelton club Maxwelton golf pro Bob Auer reports a tie for first place during the Friday night scramble held last week. GEORGIA BUSTER ENTERTAINS FAMILY Dinner guests on Sunday in the home of Mrs. Georgia Buster were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gilbert and daughters, Cindy and Carole, James Gilbert, Mrs. Jane Scheuer and children, Bianca, Bret and Belinda, and Timothy Yeager. An early Father’s Day for Thomas and James Gilbert and the birthday of Timothy Yeager were the occasions for the dinner. $250 damage in one-car accident Damage was estimated at $250 in a one-car accident Thursday, June 7. Leonard T. Kaufman, Syracuse, was the driver in the 8:04 p.m. accident which occurred on CR 530E, two miles southeast of Syracuse. Kaufman told officers that a tire blew out, causing him to strike a guard rail. The rail was damaged S2OO, with SSO damage to a lawn at the residence of Brooks Kirchoff. County police patrolman Burdell Blackbum aid Syracuse police officer Dale Sparklin investigated. .

Steve Bushong on 3d place Ball State team Ball State university head volleyball coach Don Shondell and defensive volleyball coach Jerre McManama and 12 players, including Steve Bushong, flew to the national collegiate athletic association volleyball tournament held in the San Diego sports arena on May 25-26. Teams receiving bids fir the tournament and their placing in the tournament were San Diego State college, first; California State at Long Beach, second; Ball State university, third; and West Point Military Academy, fourth. This is the third year Ball State has placed third in the NCAA volleyball tourney. BSU finished the regular season with a 25-8 record. Bushong, a graduate of West Noble high school, was one of 12 selected for the mid-western intercollegiate volleyball association all star team from Ohio, Illinois and Indiana. The team will play in the USVBA national open tourney at Duluth, Minn., the last part of June. Bushong stayed a few extra days in California for sightseeing before returning home. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Bushong of Cromwell. low' is play at Tippecanoe On ladies day at Tippecanoe Lake Country club, Thursday, June 7, the play was low gross, low net, low putts. She has dark brown hair, brown eyes, weighs 120 pounds and is five feet, fife inches tall. Kristina lists her hobbies as piano, singing, cooking and being outdoors. The SI,OOO tourney which will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, at the school grounds in North Webster in conjunction with the town’s 28th annual Mermaid Festival. J. Craig Koble receives honorable mention for bicentennial poster
Craig Koble, Syracuse junior high eighth grade student and son of Mr. and Mrs. Carroil Koble, received honorable mention in the Current Events “Spirit of ’76” poster contest. In all there were 2,392 posters entered from more than 700 schools from across the nation. There were two divisions — eighth grade and above and seventh grade and under. Each division had first, second and third place winners with 47 honorable mentions also named. Craig, a student in Loren Longenbaugh’s class, will receive a Charles Palmer Davis Investigation continues on child beating Investigation is continuing into the child beating case against Mrs. Dennis Darr, 713 Baltimore St., Syracuse. The child, Donna Jean, was taken to the hospital on May 28 where she was treated for severe bruises and other injuries. The child was released from the Goshen hospital recently and is presently in the custody of the department of welfare. A juvenile petition has been filed, however, criminal charges against Mrs. Darr have not been brought due to the lack of evidence. Investigation of the incident is still under investigation. A hearing for the child has been set for Thursday, June 14.
