Mrs. Nelle Playne Mrs. Nelle I. Playne, 90, 818 West Mishawaka Ave., Mishawaka, a former Milford resident, was found her home Friday evening. Mrs. Playne was born on November 8, 1882 at Milford and was united in marriage to Dr. E. T. Playne and he preceded her in death in 1933. She has been a librarian in Nappanee for 30 years, retiring from that position in 1968. She was also a charter member and past matron of the Nappanee Order of Eastern Star and a member of the United Methodist church at Nappanee. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday with Rev. James B. Willyard officiating. Interment was in the South Union cemetery. Mrs. Lillian J. Quinn Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday for Mrs. Lillian J. Quinn, 87, Leesburg, who passed away Wednesday, May 30, at Murphy Medical Center, Warsaw. Death came at 1:50 a.m. following her admission to the hospital three days ago from Miller’s Merry Manor in Warsaw. Mrs. Quinn was born on July 9, 1885 in the state of New York to John and Josephine (Waring) Ludwig. She was united in marriage to Thomas Edward Quinn and he died in 1945, She had been a resident of Leesburg since 1940 and had operated a restaurant in Leesburg before the death of her husband. Survivors include one nephew, Jack Diemer of Newburg, N. Y. Mrs. Lucile Flickinger Funeral services were held Friday, May 25, for Mrs. Lucile (Rothenberger) Flickinger of Bradenton, Fla., and former North Webster resident. Mrs. Flickinger had been ill for the past two years and death was due to an apparent heart attack. Mrs. Flickinger was a North Webster high school graduate and Mr. Flickinger was formerly employed by Flickinger’s Lumber Co. in North Webster. Survivors include the husband, Wilbur; one son, Tommy; her mother, Mrs. Ruth Rothenberger

of North Webster; one sister, Mrs. Phyllis Uncapher of Zionsville; one brother, Dr. Daniel Rothenberger of Redland, Calif. She was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services were held at Bradenton, Fla. George S. Prough George S. Prough, 75, 918 Wilson avenue, Goshen, father of Mrs. Jesse (Phyllis) Metzger of Syracuse, died at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at Elkhart hospital, where he had been a patient since May 15. Mr. Prough was born in the Fish Lake community “May 24, 1898. A 33-year employee of the Western Rubber company in Goshen, Prough was a WWI navy veteran, a member of the American Legion and also of the Goshen Auxiliary Police. He was married November 21, 1921 to Wilma Mae Weaver, who survives. Also surviving are another daughter, Mrs. Howard (Audrey) Wisler of Goshen; three grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Myra Kennedy and Mrs. James Browning, both of Goshen. ' Services were held Tuesday, May 29, with Rev. Paul Koepke officiating. Burial was in Violett cemetery. Cecil D. Lindzy, Sr. Cecil D. Lindzy, Sr., 79, of 215 S. Wood street, Warsaw, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 28, at the VA hospital in Fort Wayne. He had been ill for six months. He was the father of Cecil D. Lindzy, Jr., of North Webster. Lindzy had resided in Warsaw since 1922, coming from Silver Lake. A veteran of WWI, he was a member of the First United Methodist church and the Waraw American Legion. He was married July 3, 1920, to Anna Blanche (Ring) Lipply, who preceded him in death in 1969. Surviving are three other sons, Milo Lindzy of Warsaw, Ezra Lipply of North Manchester and Lamoin Lipply of Warsaw; one daughter, Mrs. Henry (Phyllis) Carter of Springfield Ohio;’l7 grandchildren; and 16 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one stepson, Zeldon Lipply, in 1947. Services were conducted
Thursday, May 31. Burial was at Silver Lake cemetery, with Rev. Don Carpenter officiating. The Warsaw American Legion also held military graveside services. Claud J. Miner Funeral services were held on Saturday for Claud J. Miner, 80, 855 W. Centennial, Nappanee. Miner, who died on May 30, formerly operated a grocery store in the Syracuse area. He was born near Nappanee on February 16, 1893. He was married to Hazel Ann Phillips in 1913. She preceded him in death in 1965. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Eston Harrington of Kern City, Calif., Mrs. Louis Tazelaar of Tinley Park, 111., and Mrs. Jerry Hemminger of Goshen; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the First Brethren church of Nappanee with Rev. Alvin Shifflett officiating. Burial was in South Union cemetery. Eddie V. Byrd Eddie V. Byrd, 67, of Camden, Ohio, passed away at the Dayton, Ohio, veteran’s hospital Friday, May 2, after an illness of two years. Mr. Byrd, a former resident of Syracuse, was a WWII veteran. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; five brothers, Archie Byrd, Robert Byrd and James Byrd of Syracue, Elmer Byrd of Mishawaka and Banford Byrd of Chrisman, Ill.; four sisters, Mrs. John Scarbeary and Mrs. Ralph Knisley of Syracuse, Mrs. Charles Dausman of Mishawaka and Mrs. Lester Myrick of Fairmount, 111. Burial was at Middletown, Ohio. Walter Wolpert Walter Andrew Wolpert, 65, r 4 Syracuse, died Tuesday, June 5, at 4:05 a.m. at Goshen hospital. Wolpert had been ill with cancer for several months. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., March 10, 1908 Wolpert moved to Syracuse in 1951. He was married to Elizabeth Millar, September 3, 1949. He worked as a steel controller at the Weatherhead Company, retiring March 12 of this year. Wolpert was a WWII veteran, a member of the Masonic lodge and of the Service Lodge 658. Surviving, along with the widow, Elizabeth, are two brothers, Clement Wolpert of Philadelphia and Joseph Wolpert of Chicago; one sister preceded him in death. Cremation will take place Thursday, June 7, at Riverview crematory, Ida Frush Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning, June 5, for Mrs. Ida Mae Frush, 86, of Chicago, 111. Mrs. Frush was the sister of Mrs. Blanche Bates and Ernest Williams, both of Syracuse. Mrs. Frush and her late husband, Burr Frush, resided in
Warsaw for many years before moving to Chicago about 20 years ago. She was a former worthy matron of chapter 426, Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are two daughters, MrS. Josephine Baker and Mrs. Virginia Walters, both of Chicago, Ill.; a sister and a brother, Mrs. Blanche Bates and Ernest Williams, both of Syracuse; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Louie Dilling Funeral services were held Monday, June 4, in Fort Wayne for Louie A. Dilling, 82, of Epworth Forest, North Webster. Death was caused by complications following an extended illness. Dilling passed away at Whitley County hospital at 10 p.m. Thursday, May 31. Born in 1891 in Preble, Dilling was an office manager at Pat-terson-Fletcher store in Fort Wayne for many years. Upon his retirement he resided at his summer home of 25 years at Epworth Forest and at Sarasota, Fla., during the winter. Dilling was a member of the First Wayne United Methodist church in Fort Wayne. Survivors include his widow, Eleanor L.; and one brother, Otto Dilling of Griffith. Hilliary Marie was born at 6:58 p.m. and tipped the scales at seven pounds, seven and onehalf ounces and was 19% inches long. She was welcomed home by one sister, Heather, four. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rader of Leesburg and paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Ray Beatty of Leesburg. Maternal great-grandfathers are Taylor Shively and Forrest Rader, both of Leesburg. Paternal greatgrandfather is Artie Long, Sr., of Syracuse. BEER, Jason Alexander Mr. and Mrs. Theodore A. Beer, Mowhawa Dr., Fort Wayne, are the parents of their first child, a son, Jason Alexander, born Thursday, May 31, at the Parkview hospital in Fort Wayne. Tytler, r 4 Syracuse, arrived home Friday, May 25, from a 12-day stay at Goshen hospital. Mrs. Tytler underwent major surgery at the hospital Monday, May 14. minor surgery Saturday, June 2, in Warsaw. Dan Griffith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Griffith, owners of Wawasee Marina on Lake Wawasee, is scheduled to undergo surgery on his leg at Parkview hospital in Fort Wayne on Thursday. The operation is to remove a small growth. Mrs. Kenneth Brewer of Wawaka, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elgie Koughn of Milford, remains a patient in the Saint Joe hopsital in Fort Wayne where she is undergoing tests. Driver cited following collision A two-car collision Saturday at 1 a.m. resulted in SBOO damage to the two vehicles involved. The autos were operated by Melvin Corn, 29, Valparaiso, and Thomas Pefferkorn, 16, r 2 Leesburg. The collision occurred on the Bell Rohr Park Rd., one mile northeast of Oswego. Pefferkorn reported to deputy sheriff Burdell Blackburn that he did not see the Corn atito which was parked at the edge of the road. Damage was listed at S4OO to the Corn auto and S4OO to the Pefferkorn auto. Pefferkorn was cited following the accident for driving with an expired license plate.

Truck leaves road southwest of Milford A truck driven by Jimmie White, 35, Milford, was damaged Thursday at 5:50 p.m. when it left the road. The accident occurred on CR 900 N, four miles southwest of Milford. White told deputy sheriff Ron Robinson that the truck dropped

Milford Lions to sell candy, hear aviator Members of the Milford Lions club received their candy at Monday night meeting and will be on the streets selling the mints in the next few days. The greater majority of the clubs in District 25-G are holding sales with all funds received going toward the purchase of a 40-MEV linear accelerator. The accelerator is to be located at the Indiana university medical center in Indianapolis. The Lions of Indiana have pledged $750,000 for the payment of the machine which will be installed in the new radiation therapy center. The center is expected to open in mid-1974. Lions club members were also reminded to turn their calendar sales in to Dr. T. A. Miller by the end of the week. Program The program for the evening was presented by Nelson Miles, a resident of Syracuse Lake. Miles talked about his experience as a World War I aviator. He joined the army signal corps in May of 1917 and was sent to Jefferson barracks. When the air force was organized there were no funds and airmen went without pay for several months. He recalled the mud field at Mount Clemens, Mich., and Kelly Field where there were no tents. When he moved to Arcadia, Fla., there were less than 5,000 men without flying equipment. They had 18 planes with wings that needed to be repaired after each landing. Miles also recalled crash landing and suffering severe injuries to his face. After five hours and 20 minutes flying time he was a pilot. Wawasee ski club to meet Sunday Members of the Wawasee ski club will hold their first meeting of the summer season from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Lakeland Youth Center. Persons interested in the club’s activities are invited to attend. Plans for the year will be discussed. Four arrested by Milford police this week A total of four persons were arrested by the Milford police department during the past week. Robert J. Flatt, Sr., 26, r 2 Bremen, was arrested for driving under the influence and public intoxication; David Eugene Marlatt, 20, 808 West Gerald St., Plymouth, was arrested for public intoxication and public indecency; Francisco Moran, 21, box 434 Milford, was arrested for operating a vehicle with no operator’s license; And Guadalupe P. Cantu, 23, 507 East Jefferson, Goshen, was arrested for no registration.
