THE MAIL-JOURNAL Wed., May 16,1973 Church of God women have special program The Women’s Christian Service Council of the Syracuse Church of God held its annual thank offering program Sunday, May 6, at the church. The program began with Mrs. Jack Elam giving the prayer and Mrs. Ted Grindle followed with a scripture reading. Mrs. George Yerger was in charge of the program and Mrs. Walter Burcham gave the thank offering presentation ° V Mrs. Burcham’s presentation included how the WCSC originated and what the group does and where the thank offering money goes. Following the presentation each member came forward and emptied her thank you barrel into a large cup which Mrs. Burcham had made. The theme song of the WCSC, “Fill my Cup Lord”, was played while the ladies emptied their barrels into the large cup. The theme of the WSCS is “A Dove in my Kitchen” and each of the ladies have a dove which hangs in her kitchen. Mrs. Donald Nine read a poem following the emptying of the thank barrels and a playlet was also given. The cast included Mrs. Oliver Hibschman, Mrs. Bill Stutzman, Mrs. Paul Yeager, Mrs. Arnold Grindle and Mrs. Lee Adams. Each one of the cast was dressed as a barrel which represented the thank barrels. The benediction was given by Mrs. Louis Firestone. Bible school set for June by Christians Milford Christian church began preregistration for its vacation Bible school Sunday, May 6. Classes will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m. during the weeks of June 5 to 8 and June 12 to 15. There will be classes this year for all youth age three years up through ninth grade. United Methodists to honor seniors The Milford United Methodist church will be honoring its 1973 high school graduates during the church’s morning worship hour this Sunday, May 20. This year’s graduates are Jon Custer, Lark Ruch and Tim Sands. , Each of the graduates will be presented special recognition gifts from the congregation. Rev. . Ralph Karstedt’s graduation recognition sermon will be, “No Time for Diapers.” Mrs. Hazel Kline honored on Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smoker of near Warsaw entertained at a family gathering in their home on Sunday to honor Mrs. Hazel Kline of Milford, mother of Mrs. Smoker. ’ A total of 35 persons from Middlebury, Goshen, Leesburg, Claypool, Pierceton and Milford enjoyed the Mother’s Day carryin. Weatherford quartet at Mount Tabor The Weatherford Quartet will be singing at the Mount Tabor church, six miles south of Nappanee, this Wednesday evening, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Weatherfords are recognized as one of the finest and foremost groups in the gospel music field today. For more than 20 years they have been leaders in their field of music, and wherever gospel music is discussed, the Weatherfords are always mentioned as unique in sound and style. They have a message in their music for all to hear. They can be seen on many TV stations across the country, and recordings on RCA Victor, Heart Warming, Canaan, Skylite, Golden Shield, Calvary and others. The pastor of Mount Tabor church is Darrell Prichard, and he says, “This is a program you won’t want to miss. Plan now to see and hear them in person, at the Mount Tabor church.” The group consists of Earl Weatherford, Lily Fern Weatherford, Haskell Cooley, Ken Williams and Tracy Dartt.
