OBITUARIES
Louise M. Baker Funeral services were held Tuesday for Louise M. Baker, 63, of North Webster. Mrs. Baker died of an apparent heart attack last Saturday at her home. Mrs. Baker was born in Huntington April 16,1910 and moved to North Webster in 1947. She was married April 16, 1939 to John C. Baker with whom she owned and operated Baker’s Case in North Webster. Mrs. Baker was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran church in Warsaw. Mrs. Baker is survived by her husband; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Carolyn) Hemmer, Warsaw, and by three grandchildren. One sister preceded her in death. Burial was at North Webster cemetery after a service at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, led by Rev. B. G. Miller. Mrs. Willard Miller Mrs. Gertrude J. Miller, 77, 853 North Main street, Nappanee, mother of Mrs. Betty J. Searfoss, r 1 Milford, passed away Thursday at 10:40 a.m. in Elkhart hospital. She had been a patient for five days. Mrs. Miller was burned severely May 5 when a sweater she was wearing caught fire while she was cooking, but according to authorities, the burns and her death apparently were unrelated. Mrs. Miller was born in Marshall county on September 11, 1895 to Robert and Sarah (Lemler) Watkins and on June 2, 1923 she married Willard Miller,

who survives. Other survivors, in addition to the husband and daughter* are another daughter, Mrs. Helene L. Clayton, South Bend; two grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; a brother, George Watkins, Bourbon; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Danner, Bourbon, and Mrs. Charles Miller, Nappanee; arid one half sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Jones, Etna Green. Funeral services were held at the First Church of God where she was a member on Saturday at 2 p.m. Rev. James Geahlen officiated and burial was in Sandridge cemetery. Cecil Lowry, Jr. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Saturday for Cecil Lowry, Jr., 49, r 1 Warsaw, who passed away Wednesday at 9:45 p.m. at the Whitley County hospital, Columbia City. He had been a patient there for two days’ and death was due to complications following a three month illness. Rev. John Weeks officiated and interment was in the North Webster cemetery, Mock addition. Mr. Lojvry was born November 20, 1923 to Cecil H. and Nannie (Bergman) Lowry at Connersville. On December 21, 1953 he was united in marriage to Hilda W. Kron and she survives. Surviving with the widow is the mother, Mrs. Cecil Lowry, Sr., North Webster; one daughter, Frances, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Lester (Helen) Williamson, Springfield, Ohio, and Mrs. Ruth West, Clearwater, Fla.; one brother, Ralph Lowry. Fort Wayne.
Mr. Lowry had been living in the North Webster community for the past seven years and was employed as a carrier and microwave supervisor at the United Telephone company, Warsaw. He attended the North Webster United Methodist church, was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict and a member of the American Legion Post 49, Warsaw. Johnny Waddell Funeral services for Johnny Dwayne Waddell, 7, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oshie Thomas Waddell.« r 1 Leesburg, were conducted at 10 a.m. Friday with Rev. Chester Reed officiating. Interment was in the North Webster cemetery. Mock addition. Johnny was one of three persons killed in an automobile accident Tuesday, May 8. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Parkview Memorial hospital in Fort Wayne at 10 p.m. Johnny was born on October 2, 1965 to Oshie Thomas and Margaret (Carpenter) Waddell at Portsmouth, Ohio. He was a first grade student at the Leesburg school. Surviving with the parents are two sisters, Kimberly Jean and Sandra Jane, and one brother, Oshie, Jr., all at home; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Minnie Abdom, Portsmouth, Ohio; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. C. Waddell, Wheelersburg, Ohio; and paternal great-grandmother, Mrs. Lucy Waddell, Flatwoods, Ky. Brett C. Miller Brett Christopher Miller, infant son of Lynn E. and Linda , (Haney) Miller, 315 South Seventh St., Goshen, was stillborn Monday at 2:21 p.m. at the Goshen hospital. He was the great-grandfeon of Mr. and Mrs. John Gardner of Milford. Surviving with the parents and maternal great-grandparents is one brother, Robert Paul, at home; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Haney of Goshen; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Miller of Goshen; paternal greatgrandmothers, Mrs. Frona Miller of Goshen and Mrs. Vada Kowarch of Culver. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday (today) with Dr. Nevin H. Zuck officiating. Interment was in the Violett cemetery.

I Spring Fashions' is theme for homemakers
By MRS. ANN HANCOOK Area Extension Agent “Spring Fashions” was the theme of the annual extension homemakers achievement night held Wednesday, May 2, at the Shrine building. The purpose of the event is to recognize clubs that have been outstanding during the last year. The county choral club which is a part of the extension homemaker program entertained the group with several selections. Mrs. Sonja Derf. past president installed the officers for the coming year. They are: Mrs. Elmer Hanes — president Mrs. Charles Smoker — president-elect Mrs. Herschei Albert — vice president Mrs. Lewis Fruit — secretary Mrs. Devon Moore — assistant secretary Mrs. LJoyd Hively — treasurer Mrs. Hobart Simison — assistant treasurer The presentation of the first Jane Award for outstanding committee service was made by Mrs. Ann Hancook. Mrs. Ruth Fellows. Warsaw, a Red Cross volunteer for 15 years was the recipient. A capacity crowd of over 400 viewed a style show narrated by Mrs. Jim Egolf of Warsaw. Participants in the style show were extension homemakers from all areas of the county. Garments included sport coats, palazo pants, wedding atire, childrens garments and centennial dressfes. Approximately Receives basal skull fracture Dennis Ringler of r 2 Syracuse was released from the South Bend Memorial hospital Saturday, May 12. Mr. Ringler was treated for a basal skull fracture and chest injuries following an industrial accident at Sellers Manufacturing in Milford on May 4. While loading a truck he was pinned between the truck and a fork lift he had been operating. He is now recuperating at his Syracuse home. Syracuse woman, two others are injured Thursday Three persons including a Syracuse woman were injured in a two-car accident Thursday at 5:30 p.m. on state road 15, onehalf mile north of Warsaw. McGrew, 47, Syracuse, who was taken to the Murphy Medical Center at Warsaw where she was treated for bruises and released: Velma Azella Smith, 70, Cedar Rapids, lowa, driver of one of the vehicles, is listed in fair condition Syracuse, s3o'for exceeding the speed limits Michael L. Fifty year clubs are: Home Arts, Prairie township, and Sunshine. Those organized 25 years ago are: Tuesday Afternoon and Wawakeechie. The program concluded with door prizes donated by merchants throughout the county and refreshments. And another successful year comes to a close for the 1,200 Kosciusko county extension homemakers. New And Old President Council Meeting Wednesday, May 16, at the women’s building, fairgrounds, the new and old president of the extension homemaker clubs met for training and information concerning coming events. A luncheon was served by the choral club. Stuffed Fish Steaks Or Fillets Bread stuffing: 2 cups day old bread, small pieces, 1 Tablespoon chopped onions, l 2 cup chopped celery. 2 Tablespoons melted fat, ' 2 tsp. salt. Salt steaks or fillets. Place 1 steak or fillet in a well greased baking pari. Place stuffing on fish and cover with second fillet or steak. Fasten together with toothpicks or skewers. Brush top with melted fat and lay slices of bacon on top. Richard Reed, 44, r 4 Syracuse, is listed in fair condition at Whitley County hospital, Columbia City, and a passenger in his auto, Paula Granger, 30, r 1 Albion, is listed in fair condition at Columbia City with chest and leg injuries. The accident reportedly happened when Reed failed to yield the right of way while northbound on Indiana 5. Injuries to the other six persons involved were not known at press time. Break-in at Sunoco station Milford town marshal Don Drake reports a Pepsi machine at the Sunoco station south of town was broken into sometime early Wednesday morning. Some $5 in change is missing from the machine.
