Mrs. Harriet Drudge Mrs. Harriet L. Drudge, 48, r 1 Milford, passed away Thursday, March 1, at 6:30 a.m. at the Goshen hospital where she had been a patient for eight days. Death was attributed to complications of a respiratory ailment. Mrs. Drudge was born on July 3, 1924 in Elkhart county to Floyd and Wilma (Young) Hall and was united in marriage to Carl Drudge on November 16, 1962 and he survives. She was a member of the First Church of God in Goshen and formerly employed by the 20th Century Restaurant at U.S. 6 and 15. Surviving with the husband is one son, Larry Martin of r 4 Goshen; one daughter, Mrs. Jon (Marlene) Hershberger of r 7 Warsaw; three grandsons; two brothers, Robert Hall, Nappanee, Laurel Hall, Goshen; and a half sister, Mrs. Josephine Cole of Albion. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Carl Stump officiating. Interment was in the Milford cemetery. Mrs. George Schuler Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Vera Schuler, 78, of Elkhart. Death came Thursday afternoon at Elkhart hospital where she had been a patient for about one week. Mrs. Schuler was born at Syracuse on April 24, 1894. Her husband, George Schuler to whom she was married December 13, 1941, preceded her in death in 1970. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ruth Coryell of Bakersfield, Calif. Mrs. Schuler was a member of Grace Lutheran church and the Rebekah lodge. Harry Funk Harry B. Funk, 72, 450 W. Sherman St., Lebanon, Oreg., died Saturday at the Lebanon hospital after a brief illness. Funk was a former Milford resident. He was born August 10, 1900 in Auburn. He moved to Lebanon in 1945 from California. He worked for the Coos-Curry Electric Coop until 1961 when he retired because of ill health. He had

resided on the coast from 1951 until 1961 then returned to Lebanon. He married Dorothy E. Hamilton on March 20, 1922 in Warsaw. She survives. He was a past noble grand of the Milford lOOF lodge 478 and a past noble grand of the Lebanon IOOF lodge 47. He was also a past worthy master of the Crowfoot Grange 314 and Pearl Rebekah lodge 47 in Lebanon. Surviving with the widow are one son, one daughter, seven grandchildren, four greatgrandchildren, Mie brother and two sisters. Mrs. George Mellinger Funeral services were held Saturday for Mrs. Maude Florence Mellinger, 85, r 4 Syracuse. Death was due to complications and came Thursday at 6:15 a.m. in Goshen hospital following surgery. Mrs. Mellinger, a resident of the Wawasee area for 67 years, was bom in Chicago, 111., on December 25,1887, a daughter of Jack and Annie (Lee) Anderson. Her marriage to George William Mellinger took place January 19, 1907. He preceded her in death September 24, 1968. She was a member of the Episcopal church in Chicago. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Maurice (Lucille) Lung of Syracuse, Mrs. Robert (Blanche) Riddle, Goshen, and Mrs. Donald (Ruby) Fassler of Milwaukee, Wis.; five grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Arthur (Helen) Becker of Elkhart. Interment was in McClintic cemetery southeast of Syracuse. Howard Meloy Services were held Friday for Howard Meloy, 61, r 1 Pierceton and brother of Mrs. Mary Ladd of North Webster. County coroner Ken Wyman ruled death was due to an apparent heart attack occurring around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday at his home. He had been in failing health for some time. Mr. Meloy was born October 25, 1911 at Sidney, a son of Samuel and Alwilda (Boyer) Meloy and moved to this county in 1970 from Hammond. He was a veteran of World War
II and retired as an employee of Buckeye Pipeline Co., Chicago. He was a member of the American Legion at North Manchester and Eagles lodge at Rochester. Survivors include three brothers, Harold of Sidney, and John and Everett, both of Pierceton; and four other sisters, Mrs. Ruth Bovrich of Cleveland, Ohio, Mrs. Elmo (Lena) Taylor, Portland, Mrs. Donald (Bernice) Brown of South Whitley and Mrs. Ernest (Beulah) Solman, North Dakota. He was preceded in death by three brothers, four sisters, and his parents. Interment was in Sidney cemetery. Mrs. Grace McCammon Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, for Mrs. Grace Pearl McCammon, 88, 3641 Hilly Lane, Elkhart, sister of Mrs. Verna McCammon of Milford. Mrs. McCammon passed away February 26 at Turtle Creek convalescent home in Elkhart where she had been living for the past three years. Interment was in the Sparta cemetery at Kimmell. Mrs. McCammon was born on May 29,1884 at Cromwell and was united in marriage to Clarence R. McCammon in Albion on October 20,1909. He preceded her in death in 1944. She had lived in Elkhart since 1954 where she moved from Cromwell. Surviving with the sister is one son, Wilbert A., Elkhart; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Harry Juday Funeral services were held in the Calvary United Methodist church at Syracuse on Saturday for Mrs. Harry (Stella) Juday, 81, 406 S. Main St., Syracuse. Mrs. Juday died February 28 in her home. She had been in failing health for some time. She was born in Wolf Lake on October 2, 1891 to Elias and Clara (Thomas) Gray. On June 1, 1913 she was married to Harry Juday at Solomon’s Creek. She was a housewife. Mrs. Juday was a member of the Calvary United Methodist church and the Hex Home Economics club. Surviving with the husband are two sons, Rex of Osceola and Howard of Syracuse; one brother, Floyd Gray of Milford; three sisters, Mrs. Lillian Warner and Mrs. Alva (Alma) Ketring both of Syracuse and Mrs. Ruth Harris of Warsaw; and eight grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren. Rev. Ross Cook, pastor of the church officiated at the services. Burial was in Solomon’s Creek. Jerome Frost Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) for Jerome Frost, the three-month-old son of John and Nancy (Marsh) Frost of Syracuse. Bom on December 8, 1972 the infant was admitted February 14 to Riley Children’s hospital at Indianapolis for a congenital
heart condition. Death came at the hospital early Monday morning. In addition to his parents, he is survived by the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Marsh of Goshen, Mr. and Mrs. Woody Kispert, Montezuma, and Mrs. Sylvia Ley of Goshen. John J. Barango Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the Montclair funeral home, Chicago, followed by a 9:30 mass at Saint Genevieve church for John J. Barango, son-in-law of Mrs. Blanche Sloan of Syracuse. He was a former lieutenant far the Illinois Commerce commission, former sergeant of the Cook county sheriffs department, an executive board member of the 35th ward, and member of the Italian-American Police Association and Illinois Police Association. He was a marine veteran of World War II and past commander of the Robert A. Matsie Post, No. 164, Amvets. He is also survived by the wife, Dorothy; son Dominic; two grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers. Interment will be in Saint Joseph cemetery. Wayne Harman Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Hastings Island United Methodist church fw Wayne Harman, 67, r 2 Milford. He passed away Tuesday, March 6, at 6:55 a.m. at the Elkhart hospital where he had been a patient for six weeks. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the Wright-Yoder funeral home in Nappanee. Rev. David Widmoyer and Rev. Darrell Prithard will officiate at the services on Friday and interment will be in the Leesburg cemetery. Mr. Harman was born on May 31, 1905 to William and Rosa (Stackhouse) Harman in Marshall county and was united in marriage to Opal Weimer on December 24,1925. She survives. Surviving with the widow is his mother, Rosa Harman of Nappanee; one sister, Mrs. Charles Sheets of Nappanee; two brothers, Russell of r 1 Warsaw and Seward of Atwood. Mr. Harman was a member of the Mount Tabor Church of God and was a farmer. Mrs. William Veltman Funeral services were held at Negaunne, Mich., Tuesday afternoon for former Wawasee resident Mrs. Hazel Veltman. Death came Saturday morning at the Saint Mary’s hospital at Marquette, Mich., following an extended illness. Mrs. Veltman moved from Lake Wawasee around five years ago, making her home in Negaunne. No other information was available at press time. Adelia Kantner Adelia Kantner, born December 3, 1876 near Wapakoueta, Ohio, died March 3 in Lynnwood, Wash., of a massive heart attack. She was the daughter of Benjamin and Margaret Kantner. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth K. Ripley of Seymour and former Milford high school teacher Lillian L. Kantner of 501 Chicago Ave., Goshen. Interment was in a cemetery near Everett, Wash. Patrick Michael was born at 4:30 a.m. and tipped the scales at five pounds, five ounces. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. John Bayless of Fairmount and paternal grandmother is Mrs. Thelma McCorlbe of r 1 Leesburg. Mr. and Mrs. McCorkle also have a 2% year old daughter, Bonnie Louise. WRINKLE, Joseph Mr. ’ and Mrs. James F. Wrinkle, Jr., Pompano Beach, Fla., are the parents of a son, Joseph Claude, born Monday, March 5, at the Holy Cross hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Bids will be accepted until 7:30 p.m. on March 20 at which time bids will be opened at town hall and a contract awarded. Services will start April 1 of this year and extend over a one year period to the 575 residential users and 26 business locations. Respond to gas leak call Syracuse volunteer firemen responded to a call at 9:44 p.m. Monday for a gas leak of two 1,000 gallon Ip gas tanks at the ElKo Mobile Home park north of Syracuse as the tanks tipped in soft ground. Intermediate Mothers work on spring party Mrs. Edward Napier was hostess for the Monday night meeting of the Intermediate Mothers club at Syracuse. President Mrs. Earl Money conducted the business meeting. The remainder of the evening was spent on continuing plans for the annual spring party of the four mothers clubs. Eighteen members responded to roll. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Loren Longenbaugh and Mrs. Raymond Jetmore. The March 19 meeting will be in the home of Mrs. Robert Brown.
