ends season with two victories
r The Wawasee Prep Lakers wound up regular season ball activity with a pair of victories over the week end. In Friday night action, the Lakers downed visiting Michigan City Marquett 76-59. Saturday night Prep traveled to Huntington where they edged Huntington Catholic 83-77. The final score Friday night did not indicate the closeness of the contest which was an 18-17 lead by Marquette ending first period action. The lead changed many times in second quarter action with Prep edging ahead 36-35 at intermission. In the third quarter of play, Prep stretched the lead to 56-50. Midway through the final period, Prep was able to shake loose from the Blazers to build a more substantial margin and coast to victory. Sylvester Allen led Prep in scoring with 21 points while grabbing 20 rebounds. Otha Wallace, Terry Bonds and Lance Hershberger scored in double figures with 15, 14 and 13 points respectively. Inconsistent Saturday action showed some of the inconsistency of Prep players which has plagued them throughout the year. The Lakers pulled from Huntington Catholic by 14 and 16 points to lead in game action only to see themselves continually slip back to narrower margins. Prep managed a 63-50 lead at three quarter time, however, it was only by some key free throw shooting late in the game that enabled them to hold onto a victory. Allen again led the Lakers with 28 points while Wallace hit 22. Bonds also scored in double
