CELEBRATE 56th ANNIVERSARY IN FLORIDA — Mr. and Mrs. Artie R. Montel of 601 S. Main St., Syracuse, will celebrate their 56th wedding anniversary on January 20 while vacationing in Florida. They were accompanied on their southern trip by their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and. Mrs. Earl Montel of r 4 North Manchester who will be observing their 25th wedding anniversary on January 11.1A family observance of th? anniversaries was held January 6 in a Middlebury restaurant. Hex Homemakers meet in Hibschman home Mrs. Oliver Hibschman entertained last week for members of the Hex Rural Extension Homemakers club. Devotions were by Mrs. Hibschman and Mrs. Milton Shuder. Hobbies were exhibited and discussed and the emergency committee reported two meals prepared for a club member due to a death. Post matrons and patrons honored by OES Past matrons ana patrons of Kosciusko chapter 160, Order of the Eastern Star, Milford, were honored at the chapter’s stated meeting Wednesday night. Worthy matron Mrs. Robert Brooks extended the chapter’s appreciation to the past matrons for the work they do during the year for the organization. With the . help of conductress Mrs. Robert Beer, Mrs. Brooks dedicated the star emblem which was presented to the chapter by the past matrons at the December meeting. Each past matron and patron told of happenings during his or her year. 25-Year Awards Mrs. Brooks also presented 25year membership awards to Mrs. W. W. Free and to William Perry. Following the meeting refreshments were served in the fellowship room by Mr. and Mrs. Billy G. Little, Mrs. Dick Casto, Mrs. John B. Augsburger and Mrs. Evar Troup. Decorations throughout the hall followed the winter thertie with snowdrops and snowmen setting the scene. ENGAGEMENT — The engagement of Wanda Lynn Beechy to Tommy Lee Gallant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Gallant of r 2 Defiance, Ohio, has been announced by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Beechy of Evansport, Ohio. The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arden Miller of Milford. A June 16 wedding is planned. Honored at pink and blue shower Mrs. Russell Mikel was the guest of honor at a pink and blue shower Thursday, Jan. 4, at the fellowship hall of the Apostolic Christian church in Milford. There were approximately 40 persons from the Milford and Syracuse areas in attendance. Mrs. Elmer Hartter, Mrs. Don Hoover, Mrs. Robert Cockburn, Mrs. Glenn Price and Mrs. Glenn Price, Jr., were in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Darrell French of Palm Springs, Calif., and Mrs. Mary Kline of Middlebury called at the home of Mrs. Hazel Kline in Milford last Wednesday.

December 16 wedding unites ' Elsie Bosworth, Craig Ruch
Elsie, Marlene Bosworth became the bride of Craig Aaron Ruch in a 2 o’clock ceremony performed in the Rosedale Hills United Methodist church at Indianapolis on Saturday, Dec. 16. The bride is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Elmer Bosworth. Her bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ruch of Milford. The church was accented in green foliage with red poinsettias. The new Mrs. Ruch was escorted down the aisle by her brother, Gus Bosworth of Columbus. The bride’s father officiated at the service. For her wedding, the bride choose a white velvet skirt and bolero vest with white crepe blouse which featured ruffles on the collar and cuffs. The ensemble was trimmed in white lace with tiny bells which were backed with red and green. A white velvet camelot cap held her Silver Thimble club meets The January meeting of the Silver Thimble club of the Apostolic Christian church of Milford was held in the home of Mrs. John Hurd Monday evening. Her co-hostess was Mrs. Ned Speicher. The new president, Mrs. Richard Kaiser, conducted the business meeting. For roll call a golden memories box was passed and each member deposited pennies equal to her age. Reports were given by Mrs. Arthur Haab, Mrs. Speicher, Mrs. Glenn Price, §r., Mrs. Lewis Speicher and Mrs. Frank Beer, Jr. New club books were given out. Happy Birthday was sung to Mrs. Hurd whose birthday was on the day of the meeting. Mrs. Frank Beer, Jr., devotional leader for the evening read “Happy New Year” with excerpts from the Bible. She also read Psalm 146. Each guest prepared a page for a scrapbook to be given to Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Graff of Goshen for their 62d wedding anniversary which was JOfcary 4. The hostesses served refreshments of ice cream and cake to. the members and a guest, Mrs. Jerry Hostetler of Syracuse. Door prizes were won by Mrs. William Troup and Mrs. Arthur Haab. WRC elects officers At the Monday night meeting of the John C. Adams chapter 278, Women’s Relief Corps, Syracuse, Mrs. Georgia Buster was reelected president for another year. Each carried a bouquet of bright red antheriums outlined with holly and red and green velvet ribbon, Steve DeWell served as best man and Lark Ruch, brother of the bridegroom r served as groomsman. A reception followed in the fellowship hall of the church. The bride is employed by Dr. P. A. Palomli in Indianapolis and is working on her associate degree at Indiana Central college. Her husband is an employee of American International Rentals of Indianapolis. The couple is residing at 370 Shelby, Indianapolis. Mrs. Robert Hossee hostess for Kappa Omicrons Mrs. Robert Hasse was hostess for the January 4 meeting of the Kappa Omicron chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority with Mrs. Dennis Bjella assisting. Mrs. Richard Keim presided for the business meeting and also [resented the evening program “Decoupage on Plaques.” Mrs. Hasse gave pledge training. Response to roll call was on a New Year’s resolution. The Christmas project was discussed whereby gifts were given to two needy families of the area, each with seven children. One child from each family was taken on a shopping trip, followed by a party and gift wrapping session. On December 18, the group went Christmas caroling to homes of elderly persons and also presented them with holiday baked goods. It was announced a ceremony will be held on March 1 for the Nu Phi Mu ritual. Mrs. Steve Crow will entertain for the next meeting with Mrs. Steve Solina as co-hostess.

Margo Miller, Glen Unzicker wed Dec. 30 A 3 o’clock wedding on December 30, 1972 united in marriage Margo Ann Miller and Glen Unzicker both of Elkhart. The double ring ceremony was performed by Rev. David Widmoyer in the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Miller of Nappanee. Mr. and Mrs, Harley Unzicker of Wenona, 111., are parents*of the bridegroom. The couple was attended by Miss Judy Somers, Miss Jeannette Unzicker, Wayne Bigler and Jonas Kramer, all of Elkhart. Guests were present from Wenona, Ill.; Eureka, Ill.; Roanoke, Ill.; Sturgis, Mich.; Cassopolis, Mich.; Mishawaka and Elkhart. Local persons attending were Mr. and Mrs. George Haab of Milford and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Haab, Robin and Debbie of Orland Park, DI. The newlyweds will be at home at 107 W. Lakeview Drive, Elkhart, after January 20. Busy Homemakers meet in Motts home January 3 The Busy Homemakers club of Milford met January 3 at the home of Mrs. William Motts with Mrs. Belle Hollar as co-hostess. President Mrs. Frank Charlton opened the meeting in the usual form. Mrs. Hollar read a poem, “Do it now,” for meditations. The health and safety lesson, careful ways to follow health rules, was given by Mrs. Irene Hollar. Garden remarks by Mrs. Vernon May were on rhubarb. Members answered roll call with their favorite Bible verse. Mrs. Motts gave the report that most of 1973 pack of the nation’s largest fruit and vegetable canner will use nutritional labeling. Labels will list calories, fat, protein and carbohydrate content in each portion. The meat industry plans to launch names for retail cuts of fresh and frozen meats that indicate the lean to fat ratio. She also told of drying roses and other summer flowers with silic gel. Mrs. Charlton presented a gift from the club to Mrs. Vernon May for 17 years of perfect attendance and serving several years as president; The meeting closed in the usual form. During the social hour the door prize was won by Mrs. May. Mrs. Hollar and Mrs. Motts served refreshments to seven members. The next meeting will be February 7 and will be in the home of Mrs. Glen Treesh. CRC meets in Dean Cousin home Monday The Columbian Reading Circle of Milford met Monday evening, Jan. 8, at the home of Mrs. Dean Cousins. The 16 members present voted to hold election of officers on February 12. President, Mrs. Roger Graff asked for volunteers to serve on a calling committee. The Club decided to donate to Hephzibah House at Winona Lake. Following the business meeting, a silent auction was held. The hostess served cream puffs, coffee, tea, mints and nuts for refreshments. The next meeting will be January 22, at the home of Mrs. Joseph A. Gerencser. Mrs. Harry Dale Doty will be in charge of the program for the evening.
Mrs. Rush heads Round Table Ladies Mrs. Milton Brice was hostess Monday night for the meeting of the Ladies of the Round Table at Syracuse. The meeting opened in usual form with Mrs. David Spray, president, presiding. Resignations of Mrs. Robert Hamman and Mrs. Carl Wilkinson were accepted. A General Federated Women’s club travel brochure was distributed. Officers Officers elected for the 1973-74 club year were: President - t - Mrs. Paul Rush Vice president — Mrs. James Nelson Secretary — Mrs. Milton Brice Treasurer — Mrs. James Alford The club constitution was read and became by-laws. Program Mrs. Vernon Beckman presented the program entitled, “Keys to Federation.” The first women’s club was founded in New Harmony in 1825, according to Mrs. Beckman, and Francis Wright started women’s dubs with the thought of advocating “women’s lib.” In 1841, a women’s dub was formed in Bloomington with the election taking three months and the president required to present an inaugural address. At this time, there were 1,500 persons residing in Bloomington and Indiana university had an enrollment of 200 men. Mrs. Beckman also told of the formation of the Sorosis club and the collect used for women’s dubs which came about in 1910. The Indiana Federated clubs motivated founding of Turkey Run as a park and the saving of the Dunes. Club members were then entertained with a play about the writing of the club collect by Mary Stewart with Mrs. Rush, Mrs. Beckman, Mrs. Merton Meredith and Mrs. Carl Penn as cast members. The next club meeting will be the 50th anniversary of the club with all past members being invited. This will be held on Monday, Jan. 22, in the Saint Andrew’s United Methodist church parlor. LAKELAND LOCAL Mrs. William A. Jones of Syracuse Lake has returned from a two and one-half week visit with her son Michael L. Jones, Mrs. Jones and family at Ocala, Fla. Michael is now head of the cost accounting department with a mobile home industry at Ocala.

Il SUMMER WEDDING PLANNED — Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Y. Schrock of r 3 Goshen announced the engagement of their daughter, Julie Ann, to Thomas Gunden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleland Gunden of Milford. The bride-elect is a senior at Goshen college, majoring in elementary education. Mr. Gunden graduated from Goshen college last spring and is engaged in farming. A summer wedding is planned. LAZANOS RETURN FROM TEXAS HOLIDAY Mr. and Mrs. Alex Lazano, Diana, Rocky, Sandy and Alex, Jr., have returned to their Milford home after spending the Christmas holidays with relatives in Alsa, Texas.
