Jeff Hughes a do-it-all guard at Murray State
Seldom does a guard lead his team in rebounding, but Jeff Hughes, Murray State’s “do it all” guard, finds himself in that position.' A product from Syracuse, Hughes currently leads his junior varsity team in rebounds with 11 retrieves per game and is also out front in two other departments. In Murray’s three games this season, Hughes has hit on 51.6 per cent of his shots for a 32.6 average andihas made 85 per cent of his attempts. Success With Fans From thte first game he played in a Murrayuniform, Hughes was a success whb the fans. In the Racers’ intra-squad game he dazzled Murray fans by sinking 10-11 field goal attempts, most of them coming from the 20foot range. Two games later he treated the fans with his performance by blistering the nets for 38 points and pulling down 17 rebounds. . \ - . Hughes finds college ball a big adjustment. A graduate from Wawasee high school, he says, “I’ve had to practically learn all new moves. The competition in college is much stiffer and they know pretty much what-you are

' There are tricks to avoiding colds that don’t cost a penny. First, remember that you get a cold in only one way— from someone who already has one. A cold sufferer sprays germs into the air with every cough or sneeze, or he may leave them on drinking glasses, or pass them through kissing. If you don’t want to catch a cold, stay away from careless coughers or sneezers. Avoid unnecessary crowds during the cold season and wash your hands before eating, especially after being near a cold sufferer. Don’t use a drinking glass or towel that has been previously used by someone else and try to avoid chilling, wet feet and getting over-tired.
