«■L 4h«* < aHUk tV : 'l) Shelly Ann Gillem Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for nine-year-old Shelly Ann Gillem of 125 West Brooklyn street, Syracuse, daughter of Vern and Donna (Austin) Gillem. Death came at 8:20 a.m. Sunday at Riley hospital, Indianapolis, and was due to leukemia. She had been ill three years. Shelly Ann was born at Goshen hospital on February 23,1963 and was a fourth grader at the Syracuse Christian school northeast of Syracuse. She was a member of Grace Bible church, r 2 Syracuse. In addition to her parents, she is survived by five brothers, Patrick, with the U. S. Navy, Ted, Shawn, Timothy and James, all at home; one sister, Shannon, at home; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Edna Austin of Kalamazoo, Mich.; the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Gillem, Kalamazoo; and a number of aunts and uncles. Burial was in Syracuse cemetery. Benjamin H. Mabie Funeral services were held Sunday for Benjamin H. Mabie, 83, r 1 North Webster. Death was due to complications of a two

year illness and came at 12:40 p.m. on Thursday at Whitley County hospital, Columbia City. Mr. Mabie was . born on January 26,1889 at Garnet, Kan., to John and Anna (Long) Mabie. A lifetime resident of the North Webster area, he was united in marriage in March 1911 to the former Eva Snoke and she survives. He was a carpenter and member of the North Webster Church of God. In addition to the widow, he is survived by three sons, Verland, Mercer, Wis., Vernon of Goshen and Merle (Gus) of Kennett, Mo.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Burial was in North Webster cemetery. Mrs. G. D. Hepler Services were held today (Wednesday) for Mrs. Etta L. Hepler, 72, 418 Front street, Syracuse. Mrs. Hepler passed away of complications on Monday at Memorial hospital, South Bend, following a brief illness. Mrs. Hepler was born on March 22, 1900 in Pennsylvania, a daughter of Levi and Elizabeth (Daniels) Hall. A resident of the Syracuse community since 1965, moving from South Boid. She was united in marriage on June 30, 1919 in Cumberland, Md., to Gloster Dale Hepler. He preceded her in death in 1967. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist church. Suvivors include one daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Elaine) Schenck of South Bend; two grandchildren; and four sisters, Mrs. Francis (Charlotte) Hoose, South Bend, Mrs. Rex (Winona) Bowers of South Connersville, Pa., Mrs. Elizabeth Long and Mrs. Idella Pritchard, both of Mishawaka. Interment was in Saint Joseph Memorial Park cemetery, South Bend.
Roscoe Dale Smith Roscoe Dale Smith, 72, ¥ 1 Milford, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at his home. Death was due to a heart ailment and he had been ill for about 10 hours. Mr. Smith was born on June 20, 1900 to David and Matilda (Hoover) Smith near Milford. On November 24,1921 he was united in marriage to Chloe Replogle who preceded him in death on February 25,1960. On March 18, 1961 he was united in marriage to Eva Rarig and she survives. He was a lifetime resident of the Milford community and a member of the Syracuse Church of the Brethren. Surviving with the widow are two sons, Richard Devon of Milford and Philip Dale of Three Rivers, Mich.; one stepson, Lamar Rarig, Sebring, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Donald (Ruth) Beer, Milford, Mrs. James (Carol) Hickey, Arlington Heights, Ill.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Edd of r 1 Warsaw. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Syracuse church of the Brethren with Rev. Jack Farrell and Rev. Orville Kilmer officiating. Interment was in the New Salem cemetery. Benjamin F. Lentz Services were held Monday for Benjamin F. Lentz, 85, a lifetime resident of the North Webster and Leesburg areas. Death was due to complications and came at 4 a.m. Saturday at the Pleasant View nursing home, Wabash. He had been in failing health for a number of years. Mr. Lentz was born in Kosciusko county on May 30,1887 to Henry and Rebecca (Parker) Lentz. His marriage to the former Grace Myrtle Hartman took place on November 28, 1907 and she preceded him in death in 1966. A retired farmer, he was a member of the First Baptist church of Oswego. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Edythe) Gordon of Fort Wayne, and Mrs. W. E. (Lunetta) Metcalf, Leesburg; two sons, Ralph Lentz of Plymouth and Henry Lentz, Spring Hill, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. Burial was in Oswego cemetery. Max Rosbrugh Max Rosbrugh, 75, r 2 Leesburg, passed away at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at his residence. Death was due to an apparent heart attack. Mr. Rosbrugh was born February 5, 1897 to Andrew W. and Emma (Anglin) Rosbrugh in Marshall county. He was united

in marriage to Ethel Mendel on August 14,1943 and she survives. Mr. Rosbrugh was a retired employee of the Bendix Corp., South Bend, he was a member of the South Bend Masonic lodge No. 45 F. & A.M. and the South Bend Valley of Scottish Rite. Mr. and Mrs. Rosbrugh had resided in the Leesburg community since 1965. Surviving with the widow are two brothers, Warren, Warsaw, and Gerald of Pierceton. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday with Rev. Gene R. Kuehn officiating. Interment was in the Leeesburg cemetery. Robert Lantz Services were held Monday for Robert L. Lantz, 58, Millersburg and husband of the former Isabelle Lung, a Syracuse United Telephone Company employee. Death came early Saturday morning at LaGrange County hospital where he had been a patient four days. He had been in failing health since January of 1970. A native and lifetime resident of the Millersburg area, Mr. Lantz was born on August 1,1914 to William and Dora (Tomionson) Lantz. His marriage to Isabelle Lung took place on January 26, 1945. He was last employed with Portable Structure Company of Osceola. In addition to the widow, he is survived by two sons, William of Coldwater, Mich., and Jack, Ashtabula, Ohio; six grandchildren; three brothers, Guy of New Paris, Willis and Homer, both of Millersburg; and five sisters, Mrs. Simon (May) Smith of Goshen, Mrs. Amos (Della) Miller, Mrs. Clarence (Ruth) Chupp, both of Middlebury, Mrs. Earl (Romaine) Lantz, New Paris, and Mrs. Ervin (Ella) Manges, Millersburg. Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Burial was in Brown cemetery at Millersburg. Ralph H. Reiff Services were held Saturday for Ralph H. Reiff, 73, r 1 Warsaw. A resident of the Pierceton area all of his life, Mr. Reiff passed away at 12:05 p.m. on December 14 at the Whitley County hospital, Columbia City. Death was due to complications following an illness of two weeks. Mr. Reiff was born on July 15, 1899 at Pierceton to George and Melinda (Trump) Reiff. A retired farmer, he was united in marriage September 6, 1919 at Saint Joseph, Mich., to the former Lillie Wissler and she survives. In addition to the widow, he is survived by three sons, Robert, Sam and Bill, all of r 1 Warsaw; two daughters, Mrs. Josephine Wells of r 1 Warsaw; and Mrs. Robert (Mary) Shroyer, r 6 Warsaw; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Terrence (Ermal) Galbreath, Pierceton, Mrs. Oscar (Elva) Werstler, Pierceton, and Mrs. Alvin (Dorothy) Murphy, Warsaw; and one brother, Clarence Reiff, Larwill. One daughter and three brothers preceded him in death. Interment was in North Webster cemetery. Mrs. Esther Gentzhorn Mrs. Esther Gentzhorn, 67, 301 Witmer Ave., Elkhart, passed away Monday at 12:40 p.m. at the _ Elkhart hospital. She had been admitted to the hospital on Sunday. Mrs. Gentzhorn was born on December 28,1904 in Milford. She retired in 1968 from Domore Office Furniture after working 35 years as a private secretary. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Bowsher, Mrs. M. D. (Netta) Chatten, Mrs. Edna Polk, all of Elkhart; one brother, Alva (Dutch) Haab of Elkhart. Funeral services were con-

County ASC committee election held The 15 delegates from the communities of Kosciusko county met at the REMC building at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 15, to select members and positions on the county ASC committee. Scott Hom was again selected to serve as chairman of the ASC committee. Robert Strombeck was elected to a three-yea term on the committee and selected as vicechairman. Elmer Rassi, who still had two years remaining on the committee, resigned his position. The 15 delegates elected Howard Silveus to the two-year term to serve as regular member on the committee. The delegates also named Wilbur Latimer and Wayne McCleary as the first and second alternates to the committee. Mr. Hom has general farming interest east of Warsaw, Mr. Strombeck farms southwest of North Webster and Silveus has farming interests near Silver Lake. Farm Programs The county ASC committee is responsible for local administration of government fam programs such as wheat acreage allotments and feed grain bases, price support programs, rural environment assistance program, the wool payment program, etc. The vacancies were filled and the county ASC committee officers named by delegates who were newly elected ASC community committeemen. Community committeemen assist the county committee in farm program administration and help keep farmers informed of program provisions. County committeemen are elected by the community committeemen to serve threeyea staggered terms, so that adinaily one vacancy occurs each yea. The county committee alternates are elected for one-year terms. The committee takes office on January 1, 1973.
