Prep splits ball game action Wawasee Prep moved its basketball record to 2-6 for the year with a win and a loss last week. Taking a page out of the week before, the Lakers dropped a thriller, while romping to victory in their second game. Last Wednesday night, Prep dropped a hard-fought 72-71 decision to tall Gary Mann on the winners’ court. On Saturday night, the Lakers hosted Central Noble and bombed the Cougars, 92-65. Gary Mann carried a 4-2 record into the game against the Lakers, having dropped close decisions to East Chicago Washington and Gary West. Mann’s two big men, 6’B Larry Moffett and 6’7 Keith Bloomfield paced the early attack as Mann was on top of the Lakers, 22-8, at the end of the first quarter. The Lakers refused to bend under the pressure, and in the closing moments of the third quarter, they cut the Mann lead to 58-52. Finally with less than two minutes to go, Prep took the lead at 67-65. However, Mann regained the lead at 70-69 with 13 seconds left. At this point, Prep called timeout to work out strategy for a final shot. With four seconds left
