School Christmas program next week

Two Christmas concerts are scheduled next week in the West Noble schools. The senior high concert will be on Sunday while the elementary program will be on Monday. The senior high school concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. on December 17. It will be held in the school cafetorium. Both the high school and junior high school bands and choirs will take part.

Band directors Gary Rhoads and Raymond Cole have announced the following program for the West Noble senior and junior high school music departments. The junior high band will play such selections as “Winter Wonderland”, “Carol of the Drum”, “The Christmas Song” and “Silent Night.” The junior high choir will sing appropriate selections including “Go Tell It On 1116 Mountain”. The high school band will render “Prelude to Christmas”, “The Christmas Suite”, (in six parts) and “Jingle Bell Rock”. Concluding the concert will be the high school choir performing such numbers as “Carol of the Drum”, “Rudolph’s Christmas Medley”, “Sleigh Ride” and “Silver Bells”. The elementary school program will be on December 18 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. It too will tike place in the high school cafetorium. The public is invited to attend both of these programs. A cantata, love Transcending/ to be given Sunday at church

“Love Transcending,” a cantata by John W. Peterson, will be presented at the Ligonier United Methodist church at the morning worship service, 10:30 a.m., December 17. This wellknown cantata presents the Christmas story in a most unusual and delightful manner. Soloists included will be Mrs. Ray Cole, Mrs. Glen Longenbaugh, Mrs. Robert Richards, Mrs. Kenneth Simmons, Mrs. Robert Stone, Larry Baker and Ray Cole. Others in the choir will be

Beta Sigma Phi to entertain training center Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of Ligonier is giving a Christmas party Saturday for the 22 members of the Noble county training center at Albion. The sorority sponsors a Saturday recreation program every two weeks at the center. The games and physical activities, geared especially for the handicapped, are supervised by volunteers from the sorority. This past year they have taken the group bowling, to the circus and on picnics. For next year they are also planning a roller skating party and a field trip. Mrs. Norman Ulery and Mrs. Robert Wechterß are the recreation directors and with the help of all members of the sorority they give this assistance to Mr. and Mrs. Marion Mason, directors of the training center. Homemakers party re-scheduled for today The Homemakers Extension club of Perry township cancelled its Christmas party that was scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 6, because of the hazardous road conditions on the country roads of the area. He is a graduate of Wawaka high school and International junior college. —L— f Loses arm in farm accident Maurice Kinnison, 53, a farmer residing about four miles east of Ligonier, had his arm tom off at the shoulder in a farm accident Friday morning. Kinnison was attempting to pick com in a field some distance from his residence when his clothing became fast in the power take-off and drew his left arm into the machinery. He managed to walk to his home for help and was later taken to the Goshen hospital in the ambulance. His condition is reported as serious. BPW Christmas party Thursday The Business and Professional Women’s club of Ligonier will hold its Christmas party in the home of Mrs. Everett Elijah at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. There will be a carry-in supper followed by a Christmas exchange and social hour. Good Samaritans hold meeting The Good Samaritans of the Ligonier United Methodist church met in the social rooms of the church Monday evening. The business meeting was conducted by president Mrs. John Ulrey. Committees reported on the results of the Christmas bazaar held November 18. Mrs. Merrill Grooms gave the devotions and Mrs. James Golden was in charge of the group singing. Hostesses were Miss Lavina Wolf and Mrs. Helen O’Riley. Hospitalized after crash on U.S. 6 Mrs. Maury Snyder, 40, 118 West Portland street, Syracuse, was admitted to Goshen hospital on Tuesday of last week for treatment of knee contusions and a scalp laceration sustained in a car-truck crash on U.S. 6 northeast of Syracuse. She was released to her home mi Friday. Investigated by Indiana state police, officers reported the Snyder vehicle was eastbound on U.S. 6 and had been passed by a semi-rig when she hit a slick spot, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a westbound pickup truck driven by Robert LeCount, 57, 1011 West Second street, Ligonier. LeCount was treated and released from Goshen hospital for minor injuries of contusions to the hands and lacerations of the eyelid. Damage was set at S3OO to the Snyder vehicle and SBOO to the truck.

Minor accident reported in Milford Sunday A minor accident was reported to the Milford police department on Sunday when Luann Lehman, 17, Milford, lost control of her 1970 Javalin on the slippery streets and struck three mail boxes. The mail boxes were located just north of the intersection of West and Catherine streets on West street. They are the property of Dennis Replogle, Ruth Darkwood and Gerald Grove. A total of S4O damages was reported. No damage was reported to the car.
