Damages total *3,000 in week end accidents

* Damages totaled $3,000 in three week end accidents at Syracuse and one person complained of injuries. Curtis Eby, 17, Syracuse, lost control of the 1971 Chevrolet, which he was driving south on Seventh street, due to ice and snow and slid into a fire hydrant near Pittsburg, on Monday. Damage was set at $350 to the auto. The amount of damage to the hydrant was not given. Second Accident Lynn McFarland, 16, r 2 Syracuse, escaped injury in a one-car mishap at 6:28 p.m. Friday as her southbound 1970 Ford skidded into a tree at 406 South Lake street, Syracuse, on the snow and ice covered pavement. One Injured Dirk Tarman, 17, New Paris, was taken to Goshen hospital by private ambulance following a two-vehicle collision Saturday at 1:40p.m. on Indiana 13 just north of Chicago street in Syracuse. He complained of neck injuries. The mishap occurred as young Tarman, driving a 1973 Ford belonging to C. S. Myers, Inc., Milford, attempted a left turn off the state road and was hit by a 1971 Ford operated by Henry Schumucker, 67, r 1 Millersburg, who was also northbound on the state road and skidded after applying his brakes on the wet pavement. Damage was set at $1,250 to the Schmucker vehicle and S9OO to the 1973 Ford. Serving sentence for drug charge Dorval Eugene May, 27, r 1 Syracuse, was booked at the county jail Wednesday by sheriff David Andrews to start serving a one-to-lOyear prison sentence for the sale of a dangerous drug (LSD). The Syracuse man, whose Kosciusko circuit court conviction was upheld by the Indiana Court of Appeals on November 16, had been free on appeal bond following a guilty finding by a jury on December 20, 1971. 14 YEARS AGO. DEC. 18,1958 Sixty employees of the United Telephone Company of Indiana were ehtertained at a banquet at the Camel club at Warsaw Tuesday evening. Saturday night is the big night for the sock hop crowd when Dee Johnson will be here to make a personal appearance and sing several songs. Mrs. Russell Neff entertained friends at a pre-Christmas dinner and gift exchange Sunday at her apartment in the Milford Hotel. It was learned last week that there has been interest shown in starting a camera club at the high school. Mrs. John Roskan of east of Milford entertained Saturday afternoon in honor of the 11th birthday of her daughter, Adri. The Past Matrons club of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 160, entertained their husbands on Tuesday evening in the dining room of the Masonic temple at a Christmas party. Brownie Troop 46 met Tuesday afternoon at the elementary school with Mrs. Fred Waldbeser in charge of the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Conn were hosts to the Sunday Night canasta dub December 14. The Double Seven Bunco club met at the home of Mrs. Kie Musselman Tuesday evening. The Intermediate Mothers club held their annual Christmas party Monday night at Howard’s restaurant with 20 members and one guest present. 24 YEARS AGO, DEC. 16,1948 Twenty-three members of the Eta Beta Pi sorority were in attendance at the annual Christmas dinner party held at Katie’s tea room on Monday evening. BIRTHS: Mr. and Mrs. Albert H. Bird, a daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Victor Beer, a daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Speicher, a son. Mrs. Parker Phend was hostess to the Woman’s Society of Christian Service of the Methodist church Thursday evening. The Milford Trojans play Leesburg in the Milford gym Friday night. Members of the order of the Arrow, National Scouting Service fraternity, and their guests will attend their annual Christmas banquet on December 28 at the Masonic Temple in Warsaw. The Busy Homemakers club held their annual Christmas party and gift exchange at the home of Mrs. Frank Charlton Friday afternoon. Miss Martha Ruch and Melbum Rapp have taken over the management of the Syracuse Cleaners, formerly owned by the late Spencer Heerman. At long tables beautifully decorated a three course chicken dinner was enjoyed by the Columbian Reading Circle and several guests in the private dining room of the Milford Case Monday evening. 30 YEARS AGO, DEC. 17,1942 Mrs. Freda Hollar and Velma Biller visited Mrs. Marshall Estep Wednesday afternoon. Twelve members of the Queen Esther Society and one new member and one guest attended a pot luck supper and Christmas party at the home of Miss Doris Myers Tuesday night. Mrs. Arch DeFries spent Tuesday with Mrs. Walter Dunnuck near Warsaw. The annual Christmas party of the Eta Beta Pi sorority was held Monday evening with nineteen members attending. Louise and Dorothy Pinkerton spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Guy Pinkerton. Mrs. Carlyle D. Barnes was hostess at a Christmas party for the Sorosis club Monday evening with almost a full attendance of the membership. Miss Louise Morehouse spent the week end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Morehouse. Next Sunday night Joseph Judkins will be the guest of the Milford Christian Youth Union. Members of the Masonic order met Tuesday night at the lodge hall and elected officers for the coming year. Albert Miller returned from Illinois Friday and informs us that he had an enjoyable time and met many former Milford people. Members of the Eastern Star Lodge met Wednesday evening of last week and elected officers for the coming year. From weather indications it looks as if Milford will have a white Christmas this year. Christmos program i$ Sunday night The annual Christmas program will be held at the Milford Christian church at 7 p.m. Sunday. The program will be presented by the youth groups from the church — Jet Cadets, Alpha Teens and Omega.
