Dr. Gilbert to speak at Mount Tabor Dr. E. Fidelia Gilbert, who pioneered in medical missions for the Churches of God in North America will be speaking at the Mount Tabor church six miles south of Nappanee tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30. She will be showing colored slides of the mission work in Bangladesh. Everyone is invited to the service to hear and meet Dr. Gilbert. She established medical work in Bogra district in 1941 by starting a clinic for women on the mission house veranda. There was no other doctor in the area. Then the medical work was carried into the villages. For 12 years she conducted a mobile dispensary. She called her van the Eva Med Van meaning evangelical medical van. On her first furlough, she reported the need for a hospital and was granted permission to raise funds. The hospital was followed by a maternity hospital in 1955. In 11 months, 414 deliveries were made. In 1971, a men’s clinic and a children’s ward were opened. Seasonal unemployment drops to 4.2 Indiana’s nonfarm employment increased to 1,907,400 by mid-November and the seasonally adjusted unem-
porations. Mrs. Barbara Zieg, internal revenue agent at Columbus, will conclude the morning session with a discussion of tax considerations. Dr. Wallace Barr, Ohio State university agricultural economist, will speak at the noon luncheon in the north ballroom. He will take up the question, “Who WiD Control Agriculture?’’ A panel will then discuss “Economic Implication of a Multi-Man Farm Business Organization: A 940-Acre Case Farm.’’ Panelists will be Kadlec, Scaletta, Mrs. Zieg, James Wilson, Anderson, John McCormick, Bringhurst, Robert D. Hoar, Salem, and Robert B. Brown, CLU visiting lecturer with Purdue’s life insurance marketing institute.
ployment rate dropped to 4.2 per cent, according to preliminary estimates of the Indiana Employment Security Division. John F. Coppes, division director, said the 2,200 increase in nonfarm jobs between October and November was the result of gains in manufacturing employment which were contrary to small seasonal losses typical at ■this time of year. He also said that seasonal decreases in nonmanufacturing employment offset some of the increase in manufacturing. Mr. Coppes noted that last month’s total was about 75,000 over that for November last year when some 1,832,400 Hoosiers held nonfarm jobs. Unemployment last month was estimated at 89,500, some 7,300 above the October jobless total. The increase was the smallest November gain since 1967, Mr. Coppes said. A year ago, 118,900 persons were out of work and the seasonally adjusted rate was six per cent. j Jerry L. Gerber pleas not guilty Jerry L. Gerber, 31, Milford, entered a not guilty plea when he appeared in Warsaw city court Monday morning. Gerber has been charged with sale of alcoholic beverages without a permit and possession of alcoholic beverages for the purpose of selling them. He was taken to Kosciusko county jail following his arrest and bond was set at SSOO on each count. A trial date will be set for the first of 1973. Milford police report shows one violation The Milford police report for the past week shows one vehicle violation. Timothy R. Rogers, 20, Milford, was arrested for failure to have his vehicle inspected. The police also report a speed limit sign on Catherine street was damaged during the week when it was struck by a vehicle being driven by Eugene C. Frederick of r 1 Etna Green. No damage was reported to the Frederick car. The sign will be replaced.
