WE HAVE had several calls on the Christmas tree at the library. Mrs. Charles (Dorothea) Kerlin. one of our town’s librarians, made the tree out of jewelry and bits of glass. These are cleverly glued to a piece of wood cut into the shape of a tree and mounted in a frame. Tiny lights are also found on the tree. It would be worth one’s time to make a trip to the library and see this beautiful tree. JOHN REPLOGLE relates an interesting experience of traveling via plane and bus with Indiana’s Governor-elect Dr. Otis Bowen of Bremen. Ask him about it if you get the chance. WANT TO SEE an interesting magic trick? Ask Rev. Jerald Radcliff to show you the one he learned this summer at Expo ’72 in Dallas, Texas. It involves a gadget that shows not only two ends of a string but four ends. It is done to emphasize the fact that all things are possible with God.

MARSHALL ESTEP, well known Jefferson township farmer, has sold his 401-acre farm southwest of Milford for a nearrecord $615 per acre, to a Napierville, 111., resident. Earlier he ■ sold his 197-acre farm northwest of Milford for $538 per acre. The Esteps have purchased a lake-front home on East Shore Drive, Syracuse Lake, where they are now making their home. HAVE YOU VISITED the new home of the Milford Budget shop in the old Brittsan building? It’s newly re-arranged and an attractive window display can be seen. Stop in. The Amsdens have done a fine job and offer new and used merchandise. A NEW RESIDENT to our community is Mrs. Byron Ulrich, the former Lois Murphy of Columbia City. Her marriage to Ulrich took place last Sunday. The new Mrs. Ulrich has a son,
Max, who is an attorney in Holland, Mich. Her daughter-in-law Judy is superintendent of nurses at a hospital there. The Murphys have two sons, Mike and Chad. And, if you have been wondering about Mr. Ulrich’s daughter Katilou we can tell you she and her husband Frederick Autenricth reside in the Fort Wayne area where they both teach in the New Wayne school system. Katilou and Fred have two children, Darcy Jeane and Douglas Jerome. WITH ALL THIS snow the snowmobilers are having a ball! Looks like we may be in for a vChite Christmas this year. Speaking of Christmas, it doesn’t seem like the holiday season is upon us and we will be joining with family and friends in just 12 more days for our Christmas festivities. If you don’t have your shopping done you had better hurry, time is running out! IS SANTA coming to Milford this year? HAVE YOU seen the Christmas decorations at the First National Bank in Warsaw? Have you seen the Christmas decorations at the First National Bank in Milford? When we asked why they didn’t have any here, the answer was they didn’t know. Not only do they not have any here but they had a professional decorator do their decorating at the Warsaw office. We may be in the precincts but we do like decorations also. IT JUST WASN’T Clemens Schrock’s day! That’s the way we would describe the problems he had last Thursday at 3:35 a.m. ( As we hear it, he left his home on Fourth street and was headed for Minnesota with a load of boats when he stalled his rig on the tracks at the Syracuse road crossing. He called town marshal Don Drake who first called railroad officials to learn the time the next train would be through Milford ... one hour, he was in luck there. He then took his pickup to the site of the railroad crossing. Near the crossing the pickup ran out of gas. Drake, meanwhile, had called for a wrecker and the semi was pulled off the tracks. Schrock was taken back to his home, this time in the police car, where he picked up some gas for his pickup. The pickup was then taken home and Drake drove Schrock back to his semi where the problem was soon discovered.
It seems the semi too was out of gas. Schrock switched to the auxiliary tank and was once again on his way to Minnesota. HAVE Motors’ new home? It is on state road 15 just a short distance from where it has been operating for the past several months. PASTOR AND Mrs. Clarence B. Fike of r 1 Milford have returned from a 10 day tour of the Holy Lands. They visited Cyprus, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria, Israel and Samaria. They are pastors of the Turkey Creek Church of the Brethren at Gravelton and are well known in this area. THANKS GO to Maurice Beer and Jim Felkner for lending helping hands during Tuesday’s ice storm. EMMA KRAUTER called Tuesday to tell us she is once again making lap robes for the veterans hospital. Someone left a large quantity of material on her door step and she is trying to find out who the contributor was ... if it was you why not give her a call, she would like to extend her thanks. She says she has enough material now for five robes and will make additional robes if more material can be found. ALL IN THE FAMILY: Emra Stookey, Indiana’s new Dairyman of the Year, lives on a farm purchased by his grandfather, th? late John Stookey, in 1882. His own father, the late Millard G. Stookey, four-term Kosciusko county commissioner from the northern district, lived there a good share of his life, and now it’s Emra’s turn. It would appear that John and-or Jack will make this farm their home in years to come.
