Economic development commission formed
The Ligonier city council met Monday, Nov. 27, and passed an ordinance creating a department to be known as the Ligonier economic development commission and providing for appointment of members to said commission pursuant to law. The new EDC will comply with a state ordinance passed in 1965 and pertains to leasing of properties to industry. The ordinance was passed on its first reading. Concern shown over fan hitting West Noble player
A letter of record has been sent to the Indiana High School Athletic Association from the West Noble school, expressing concern over the general atmosphere at the November 17 basketball game played at East Noble. The announcement for the letter came from West Noble principal James Schrock. It was at that game a fan from East Noble came down onto the playing floor and hit one of the West Noble team members. Tires were slashed and several radio antennas were broken off cars parked in the parking lot during the game. He thinks it possible that competition between the two schools should be ended. The schools have a two-year contract with one more year to run. Both superintendent Glen K. Longenbaugh of the West Noble schools and principal Schrock say that they would hate to see the competition ended but that it might become necessary. East Noble high school principal Gene Rhodes gave the Lettermans club a stem warning and praised them for their conduct at the last two games. He feels that the schools should work this out between themselves without the help of the IHSAA.

Rose Leymon is named DAR f Good Citizen Rose Leyman senior at West Noble high school has been chosen as winner of the annual DAR Good Citizen award. She was selected to represent her class upon her dependability, service patriotism and leadership. Rose will be representing West Noble in a competitive examination covering local state and national government and current events. A county winner will then be selected to advance to the state competition. Key 73 rally well attended The Key 73 program at the West Noble high school cafetorium Sunday evening was attended by over 225 persons. Rev. Robert Yawberg of the Fort Wayne Church of Christ was the speaker. Rev. Charles Elam of the Ligonier United Methodist church presented the theory of the Key 73 program. Rev. Steve Owen gave the offertory prayer and Rev. F. F. Young, the scripture. Rev. Mark Frink gave the benediction. The community choir, under the direction of Mrs. Vadas Golden, was made up of members from Indian Village, Cromwell, Wawaka, Cosperville and the Ligonier area. Their selections were, “Die Awakening Chorus” and “Evening Prayer”. Mrs. Robert Richards and Larry Baker sang the offertory duet, “Birthday of the King.” They were accompanied by Mrs. Gary Peterson. Mrs. Emerson Bushong served as accompaniest for the evening and Richard Ridenbaugh lead the group singing. Rev. Jack Jessop, of the Ligonier Church of Christ and Father Arthur McDonald of Saint Patrick’s Catholic church were in charge of arrangements for this event. Time to reserve license plates The Ligonier license branch has begun taking reservations for special numbers for the 1973 license plates. Gene Moser, manager of the branch, states that persons wishing a special number should contact the branch as soon as possible if they have not already done so. Pre-printed registrations have been mailed and should be taken to the branch when paying for reserved plates. The purchase price for special plates is $13.25 plus the excise tax, which will, in most cases, be shown on the registration form. Plates purchased in regular sequence are $12.25. Deadline for payment for special numbers is December 22. Persons with questions are asked to contact the license branch. Joe Tarlton re-enlisted BAUMHOLDER, GERMANY — Specialist four Joe L. Tarlton, 21, son of Mrs. Betty Hanson, 202 W. Miller, Ligonier, re-enlisted for six years in the regular army recently while serving with the second field artillery in Baumholder, Germany. Spec. Tarlton, an ammunition handler in service battery, first battalion, second field artillery, entered the army in February 1971, completed basic training at Fort Polk, La., and was last stationed at Fort Sill, Okla. His father, Everett Tarlton, lives on r 3 Albion.

Awards presented to North Webster 4-H'ers
The three 4-H clubs in Dppecanoe township — Chain-O-Lakes, Wee Webster Workers and Room 4-U — met jointly at the North Webster school recently fa- presentation of awards and completion pins. Jeff Rhodes, (resident of the Chain-O-Lakes club brought the meeting to order. He asked Kevin Gilbert to lead the pledge to the American flag. The 4-H pledge was led by Kay Ferverda. Songs were led by Carmen Bryant, with everyone joining in the singing. The leaders of the clubs presented the following pins to their members: Mrs. Kent Brower awarded Missionary to Pakistan to speak tonight Mrs. Byron Haines, missionary to Pakistan, will speak on her work and show slides of that country during the meeting of the Presbyterian Women’s Association tonight (Wednesday). The meeting will be held in the Ligonier Presbyterian church at 8 p.m. The One Way Singers will also present a program of music. French and Spanish clubs plan dinner West Noble high school Spanish and French clubs are planning a dinner for their combined groups on December 11 at the school. Food native to both countries will be on the menu. Following the dinner hour students will enjoy a gift exchange among members. Perry Twp. Homemakers plan dinner Perry Township Homemakers Extension club will have a carryin dinner at 12 noon Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Altha Wallace. Hostesses will be the officers Mrs. Elbert Roe, Mrs. Stacey Archer, Mrs. Robert Duesler and Mrs. Wallace. Craft articles made by members will be on display and a Christmas gift exchange will reveal the names of secret pals. Gene Moser Gives License Information Gene Moser, manager of the Ligonier license branch releases the following information to avoid confusion for those receiving license renewal forms from the state: * “Plates do not have to be ordered by mail. You can continue to buy them as you have in the past by coming directly to the license branch. “However, if you wish to order by mail, you must mail your application to Albion, post office box 1973. These will be picked up daily and distributed to whichever branch they are designated. “Please follow the printed instructions carefully if applying for 1973 plates by mail. If there are any questions feel free to call the license branch.”

Slides were shown by Mark Reiff of his citizenship ti;ip to Washington D. C. The trip was an award presented to him last spring. Jeff Rhodes adjourned the meeting with refreshments of cake, ice cream and punch being served to all present.
