Shearer Facts ... ByCARLSHEARER It’s a fact . . . that the Goethe House, the Birthplace of the German poet in Frank-fort-on-th e-Main, was destroyed by bombs in World War 11, as were other buildings. But this house was rebuilt entirely from its own rubble. But in the salvation of the soul God doesn’t need the rubble of the old house or life. The Bible says, “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things are passed away, behold all things are become new.” We you to the Milford Christian Church to meet the transforming Lord-Jesus Christ.

'Awareness Os The World Os Work' Reason For Project
Lakeland curriculum coordinator John Naab told members of the Lakeland school board Tuesday night he is currently working with the state of Indiana on an elementary career education curriculum guide. The main reason for the project is to make youngsters aware of the world of work. Naab said the current project is one of five elementary projects in the state. Last year the corporation worked on the junior high level. Besides the five elementary projects the state of Indiana is funding seven other projects, five in junior high schools (including Warsaw) and two in high schools. The corporation has received $3,400 for inservice education for teachers. A total of six workshops have been planned with three being completed. Workshops completed are “The National Thrust for Career Education,” “The Indiana State Plan for Career Education,” “Locally and Commercially Prepared Ideas and Materials for Career Education.” Workshops planned for the future are “Humanizing Education,” “Horizontal Planning” and “Vertical Planning.” Other Reports Naab also made several other reports to the board including the fact that to date the schools have attained a 94 per cent participation factor in the elementary parent-teacher conferences. Achievement tests have been administered in grades twoeight. The results have been scored, recorded and are presently being analyzed for curricular implications. Diagnostic reading tests have been administered and scored. The results are presently being utilized in the reading program. A total of 1,336 students were screened for vision problems with 137 referral letters being mailed. An additional 990 students were screened for hearing problems with four being referred for further evaluation. All four of these are receiving additional help at the present time. Other Business In other business before the board approval was given for additional appropriations with no taxpayers present during the hearing. A request for payment in an amount of $30,261 for Hillman’s Equipment, Inc., for equipment for the North Webster cafeteria was approved.
