SB TO BE HONORED — Mr. and Mrs. John E. Gardner of Milford will be honored at an open house on Sunday, Nov. 12, in honor of their 50th wedding anniversary. The open house will be held in the Milford Christian church fellowship hall from 2 to 5 p.m. The Gardners were married November 9,1922 at Milford and have resided in the Nappanee and Milford areas. They have three children, Mrs. Marvin (Leatrice) Rapp of Milford, Mrs. Robert (Marilyn) Haney of Goshen and John, Jr., of Milford. They also have 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Gardner is a retired farmer and both are employed part time at Beer’s Flowers in Milford. Friends and relatives are invited to attend the open house.
Wednesday Club Meets In Turner Home Mrs. Fitzhugh Turner was hostess last week for the Wednesday meeting of the Wednesday Afternoon club at Syracuse. Eighteen members responded to roll on citizenship and getting out to vote. Vice president Mrs. John Sudfow presided for the business portion of the afternoon. Mrs. Dean Pittman was in charge of the program which included a film sponsored by UNICEF, and entitled, “Children of the Americas” depicting regions of Latin America. Reviewed were landscapes and extremes of modern day conveniences shadowed by primitive area. Work of United Nation children’s fund in these countries was portrayed, with the government of 112 countries helping their children with UNICEF aid. Mrs. Richard Heyde assisted the hostess in serving refreshments during the social hour. Mrs, Ray Price will entertain for the next meeting of the club. Annual Harvest Homecoming Is November 5 The annual Harvest Homecoming service at the Church of the Brethren in Syracuse is planned for this Sunday, Nov. 5. A vocal group, “The Followers” will present special music during the morning worship service at 10:30. At the noon hour, a carry-in meal will be held at the church and during the afternoon service starting at 1:30, a dedication will be held for the recently purchased organ and piano. Ta-Ma-Les Meet Thursday The Ta-ma-le Camp Fire group at Syracuse met Thursday at the home of their leader Mrs. Dean Pittman. The business meeting was presided over by Libby Alberts, president. Plans were made for a creative arts display to be exhibited at the annual Camp Fire fly-up and council fire on Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Syracuse scout cabin at 2 p.m. The girls practiced the Camp Fire song, Burn Fire Burn, which they will dramatize for the fly-up. Refreshments were served by Pat Heath.

Holcomb-Mignery Vows Heard At High Noon
Miss Nancy Lynn Holcomb became the bride of Patrick Mignery on Saturday, Oct. 21, in vows exchanged at 12 o’clock noon in Saint Martin DePorres Catholic church south of Syracuse. Rev. Eugene Zimmerman officiated for the double ring ceremony in the presence of 125 guests. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Migedt of r 4 Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Mignery, r 2 Syracuse. The altar of the church was decorated in fall colors and fall colors were also used in the chrysanthemums gracing the altar area. Mr. Migedt gave his daughter in marriage. The bride was attired in a gown of white satin with A-line styling. The side panels featured lace over satin and the bell-styled sleeves were of lace. Gold brocade trimmed the gown front, neck and upper sleeves. Her full cap of lace over satin was trimmed with pearls, and the long veil train was caught to the lower edge of the cap. - She carried a white wicker basket of white carnations, white roses, white chrysanthemums and white mums. Attendants Miss Susan Mary Holcomb, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a gown of A-line styling with brown side panels and orange front and back panels. Gold brocade also trimmed the gown front and upper sleeve portions. Her headdress was a small cap with arrangements of straw flowers at the back featuring the color of orange. Matching orange dominated the straw flowers in autumn colors gracing her wicker basket which she carried. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Terry Likens of r 1 North Webster and Miss Cynthia Holcomb, r 4 Syracuse. Their A-line gowns featured brown side panels and yellow front and back panels, with gold brocade on the gown front and upper portion of sleeves. Their headdresses were identical to the maid of honor, using the predominate shade of yellow, as were their wicker basket straw flower arrangements. Douglas Ringler of Huntington street, Syracuse, was best man. Groomsmen were Terry Likens, r 1 North Webster, and Dale Freeman, r 3 Syracuse. Miss Michelle Mignery, r 2 Syracuse, was flower girl and Ronald Migedt, r 4 Syracuse, ringbearer. Ushers were Darwin Freeman, r 3 Syracuse, Willard Elder, r 1 Syracuse, and Keith Strauss, r 2 Syracuse. The bride’s mother was attired in a gown of avocado. The mother of the bridegroom wore a gown of burgundy velvet with matching vest and white crepe blouse. Their corsages were fall colored chrysanthemums. Reception A buffet reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents with an autumn theme used in the decor.

Following a brief wedding trip, the couple will reside in their newly built home at Syracuse. The bride graduated from -Wawasee high school with the class of 1972 where she was in the National Honor society and National Quill and Scroll society. She is a secretary in Goshen. Also a 1972 graduate of Wawasee high school, the bridegroom is employed with his father at Lakeshore Marine Supply, Syracuse. Susan Engelberth At Tri State Susan E. Engelberth, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Engelberth, r 2 Pierceton, has registered as a new student with the opening of the fall quarter at Tri-State college. A graduate of Whitko high school, she is majoring in mathematics. Ebenezer Ladies ~ Hold Meeting The Ebenezer Ladies aid met last week for their regular October meeting with 18 ladies responding to roll on what each like best during the autumn season, bringing varied and interesting answers. The meeting opened in regular form followed by singing of “America, the Beautiful” and an organ solo “His Eye is on the Sparrow” by Mrs. Mabel Snyder, hostess. Mrs. Snyder read a Japanese version of the 23d Psalm, closing with “A Woman’s Prayer.” A sick report was given on Mrs. Melbum Rapp prior to closing with the Lord’s Prayer. During the social hour, a report was heard of a 3,000 mile trip taken by several aid members. The birthday bank will be opened at the November meeting of the group. Senior Citizens Hold Memoriom President James Hamman presided for the Thursday meeting of the Turkey Creek Senior Citizens at Syracuse at which time a moment of silence honored Mrs. Myrtle Robinson, deceased. Mrs. Maude Davault offered prayer prior to the bountiful carry-in supper. During the business meeting, it was voted to send sls to the veterans administration for veteran canteen books at Fort Wayne. The 14 members and three guests took part in singing happy birthday to Mr. Hamman and Mrs. Davault. Games were played during the social hour. The next meeting will be a Thanksgiving supper at 6:30 on November 16. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Price of r 2 Leesburg had Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Price, Steve, Laurie and Jenny, Atwood, Mr. and Mrs. William Troup, Angie, Chris and Timmy, r 2 Leesburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Greer of Goshen.
■ OPEN HOUSE TO HONOR COUPLE — Mr. and Mrs. Eugene V. Moser of r 2 Syracuse will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary at an open house in their home from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 5. Mr. Moser and the former Elizabeth (Betty) Blue were united in marriage in New Paris by Rev. C. C. Collins on October 30,1937. They have two children, Maurice Gene Moser and Mrs. Herbert L. (Cynthia) Geiger, both of Ligonier, and with their families, will host the reception. All relatives and friends are invited to attend. They ask that gifts be omitted.
ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED — Mr. and Mrs. Gerald E. Cramar, r 1 Syracuse, have announced the engagement and coming marriage of their daughter Vicki to Randey A. Bloom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard C. Bloom, Rockford, 111. The couple will exchange wedding vows at 6;30 p.m. on December 30 in the Second Congregational church, Rockford. Miss Cramar, a graduate of Wawasee high school and International junior college is presently employed at the Lincoln National Life Insurance Company in Fort Wayne. Her fiance, a graduate of Rockford East high school, and Rock Valley junior college in Rockford, is currently serving in the air force and is stationed at Wurtsmith air force base, Oscoda, Mich. Missionary Circle Holds October Meeting The Fellowship Missionary circle of Wawasee Heights Baptist church met last week at the home of Mrs. David Nine with Mrs. Jim Storey as co-hostess. Mrs. Marion Acton opened the meeting with prayer after which each woman present introduced herself and gave either a favorite Bible verse or an answer to prayer. Discussed were missions and missionary projects, work days and prayer lists.

Mr. And Mrs. Henry Steiglitz To Be Honored On Anniversary
The children of Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. Stieglitz of r 2 Milford are honoring their parents on their 50th wedding anniversary this Sunday, Nov. 5, with an open house in the fellowship hall of the Apostolic Christian church in Milford. The open house will be held between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m.
ANNIVERSARY-BIRTHDAYS ARE OBSERVED SUNDAY Mr. and Mrs. Burton Niles of Warsaw entertained at a family dinner on Sunday honoring the October birthdays of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Niles of Syracuse, and in observance of the latter Niles’ 52nd wedding anniversary on October 30. Others in attendance were the grandchildren of the honored couple and their families, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Niles, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Somers and son Nathan, and Ben Niles, all of Warsaw.

Mrs. Stieglitz is the former Anne Zimmerman. Both Mr. and Mrs. Stieglitz have resided in the Milford community for nearly 60 years. He has been engaged in farming all his life. They have 10 children and 20 grandchildren. No invitations have been sent. Friends are requested not to take gifts.
Honored On 25th Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Larry Griffith of Syracuse, celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, were guests of honor at a dinner party Saturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Hare and Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Clevenger served as hosts for the evening. Mrs. Griffith, the former Rosemary Schermeyer, and Larry Griffith were united in marriage at the Cathedral in Fort Wayne on October 25, 1947.
