ONE YEAR AGO The so-called Pickwick Block fund has reached $27,000, Robert L. Jones said this morning. A Veteran’s Day observance was held at 11 a.m. Monday. Extensive damage was reported in vandalism at both laundromats this past week. Obits: Jimmie D. Frushour, 44; Walter Pletcher, 71; Owen Frey, 73; and Mrs. Guy Ettlein, 83. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Edgar announce the forthcoming marriage on October 29 of their daughter, Cherri Lynette, to David Byrd. Mrs. W. W. Provost of Morrisville, Tenn., has returned to her home following a two-week stay in the A. A. Pfingst home. Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus McAllister, HI, are the parents of a daughter, Christine Renee, born on October 18. “A son was born October 22 to Mr. and Mrs. Travis Ratliff; a daughter, October 24 to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gunn, and a son Terry Eugene II on October 18 to Mr. and Mrs. Terry Smith. FIVE YEARS AGO High surface winds do SSO- - damage in the Enchanted Hills area last night. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Darr are now wintering in Melbourne, Fla. Two Goshen men, while hunting, found a sack containing billfolds and personal affects reported missing several weeks ago from the residence of Dr. T. Bauegge at Lake Wawasee. The well-known Oakes Accounting and Tax Service has been sold to Robert J. Mauzy. Mrs. Louise Byland has moved from her home on Lake street to the uptown apartment of Mrs. Elizabeth Pollock for the winter while Mrs. Pollock is in Florida. The newly reorganized Turkey Creek Township Conservation club has a membership of 250 since September with the old membership list at 98. Mr. and Mrs. James Butt entertained at dinner Sunday honoring newlyweds Mr. and Mrs. John R. Paxson (the former Sandra Susanne Schletter of Syracuse.) Mr. and Mrs. Chester Brown are due to arrive home from Laos on November 1. The Gordon Groves family of Pleasant Ridge spent Sunday at the Sam Bushong home. TEN YEARS AGO Terry Frushour, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Frushour and a jet attack pilot out of ElToro air base, Santa Ana, Calif., recently was involved in a narrow jet plane escape. Mrs. James Barrett and two children left Tuesday for Okinawa to join her husband, Sp. 5 James Barrett stationed there. Constance Sudlow and David Heckaman repeated wedding vows on October 20 in Saint James Episcopal church, Goshen. Mrs. Robert Craig has returned from a six week tour of parts of Asia and Europe. Rice have returned from California to make residence and are now residing in the James Connolly property on Lake street. FORTY-FIVE YEARS AGO The Syracuse Independent basketball team has been reorganized with J, D. Wilt as manager; J. C. Abbott, publicity manager; and Emorty Druckamiller, coach and captain. Warren Ruple is making preparations to build a filling station on his residence property on the corner of Main and Harrison streets. Mesdames Crist and Earl Darr called at the home of Mrs. Minnie Beck Grove of Milford Thursday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Darr of Goshen and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bushong and two sons called Sunday evening at the Artie Geyer home. Mr. and Mrs. P. L. Sprague went to Fon du Lac, Wis., last Thursday and visited until Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. W. C. Bartels and family. Daniel Fruchey and Helen Dene Cooperrider were united in marriage on Wednesday in the Evangelical parsonage by Rev. R. G. Foust. Beckman’s Furniture Store has started a Christmas furniture club. Special Services Sunday At Milford Christian Church Special services will be held Sunday morning at the Milford Christian church as members and visitors enjoy an old fashioned Sunday as part of the rally day-homecoming festivities. Members of the church, the community and former members of the church are asked to attend worship services dressed in old fashioned clothes. A display of old Bibles, pictures taken years ago and other items will be featured. Following the 9:30 a.m. Sunday school hour and the 10:30 worship hour a carry-in dinner will be held. Dick Fehnel is in charge of the afternoon program which will include a talent program.
