OBITUARIES
Eston B. Clayton Services were held Monday for Eston B. Clayton, 80, 607 Front street, Syracuse. He passed away at Goshen hospital at 5:30 a.m. Saturday of complications following a two-year illness. The son of David and Alfretta (Strieby) Clayton, he was married September 3,1910 to the former Adah Hinderer and she {receded him in death. He had been a laborer and retired employee of Eli Lilly. Mr. Clayton attended the Zion Chapel near Syracuse. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. William (Lucy) Rogers of Syracuse and Mrs. Kenneth (Verla) Stump, Frankfort, Germany; two sons, Eldon <rf North Webster and Frederick, Syracuse; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Clayton, Detroit, Mich.; and one sister, Mrs. Roy (Florence) Schultz of Milford. Burial was in Syracuse cemetery. Mrs. John Graybill Funeral services were held Monday for Mrs. Edith Graybill, 80, Goshen, and mother of Kenneth Graybill of North Webster. She passed away on Thursday at the Fountain View Nursing Home, Elkhart, where she had been a patient since May. Mrs. Garybill was born in Carroll county on May 17, 1892 and her husband, John Henry Graybill, to whom she was married June 4, 1910, preceded her in death May 25, 1956. In addition to the area son, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. George (Lucile) Stull of Elkhart and Mrs. Don (Ruth) Kufeldt, White Pigeon, Mich.; three other sons, Robert of r 5 Goshen, Dale, Elkhart, and William of Heber Springs, Ark.; 25 grandchildren; 55 greatgrandchildren; and two sisters. Mrs. Jesse Miller Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Maude A. Miller, 84, 307 East Boston street, Syracuse. A resident of Syracuse most of her life, Mrs. Miller passed away at 9:05 a.m. on Saturday at Saint Joseph hospital, South Bend. In failing health for sometime, death was due to complications.

Mrs. Miller was born at Spencerville on January 10, 1888 to Amariah and Mary (Moor) Johnson. Her husband, Jesse Miller to whom she was married in 1906, preceded her in death in 1953. She was a member of the Church of God. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Beatrice Whetstone of Elkhart, Mrs. Goldy Sumpter, Warsaw, Mrs. Harry (Mildred) Nicolai, Syracuse, Mrs. Cecil (Hazel) Clingaman of Peru, Mrs. Rolland (Marilyn) Hodgson of rural Goshen, and Mrs. Luther (Ethel) LeCount, Elkhart; three sons, Charles Miller of Syracuse, Russel Miller, Etna Green, and William Miller of Elkhart; two step-sons, Milo of Etna Green and Stanley, North Webster; 25 grandchildren; 37 greatgrandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Melvin (Hulda) Niles of Syracuse; and one brother, Herbert Johnson, Elkhart. Burial was in Syracuse cemetery. Etta Schlotterback Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 Friday for Mrs. Etta Schlotterback, 90, Ligonier, sister of Mrs. Verna McCammon of Milford. Mrs. Schlotterback passed away at 6 p.m. Wednesday at her home from an apparent heart attack. She was bom November 10, 1881 in Cromwell and lived for the past 20 years in Ligonier. Her first husband, Bert Yarlot, passed away in 1938. She then married Willis Schlotterback and he died in 1971. Survivors besides the sister are (me son, Burton Yarlot, Ligonier; one grandchild; three greatgrandchildren; one other sister, Mrs. Grace McCammon, Elkhart. Dr. A. David Price Dr. A. David Price, 61, Chardon, Ohio, and a summer resident of Tippecanoe Lake for 20 years, passed away Thursday morning at Goshen hospital of complications following an illness of 15 years. Dr. Price was bom on July 3, 1911 at Marion to Archie and Jeannette (Torrance) Price. His wife, the former Mary Prickett to whom he was married September 6, 1938, survives. A practicing physician for 20 years, Dr. Price was a member of the Gethsemane Episcopal church at Marion, the 0.M.A., the A.M.A., and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. In addition to the widow, he is survived by his mother, three daughters, one son, three grandchildren and two sisters. Anna Belle Snyder Mrs. Anna Belle Snyder, 76, r 1 Leesburg, died at 1:20 a.m. Monday at her daughter’s home,
Mrs. William Knapp of r 1 Leesburg. She had been residing with her daughter since moving from Indianapolis 13 years ago. Mrs. Snyder was bom on January 9, 1896 at Herbst to Jacob and Mary (Weldon) Simon. She was united in marriage to Urban P. Snyder in 1915 and he preceded her in death in 1960. Surviving with the daughter is one brother, Abe Simon, California; and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted at an Indianapolis funeral home Wednesday afternoon. Interment will be in the Kenesses cemetery. Lester J. Plank Funeral services were held Tuesday at Rockford, DI., for Lester J. Plank, 62, of Rockford, brother of Forrest Plank, Syracuse. Mr. Plank was bom north of Goshen to Orlando and Annie (Wogoman) Plank and lived most of his life in the Syracuse area prior to moving to Illinois a number of years ago. In addition to the Syracuse brother, he is survived by the widow, Ruby, Rockford; and several nieces and nephews including Mrs. Eli Kauffman and Robert Plank, both of Syracuse. One son and two sisters preceded him in death. Roy Fox Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Roy Fox, 79, r 1 Milford, who passed away at 9:15 a.m. Saturday while lacking apples in his yard. Death was due to a heart attack. Mr. Fox was bom on August 26, 1893 to John W. and Licietta (Pener) Fox in Milford. He had been a lifetime resident of the Milford community. He was united in marriage to Pearl Slabaugh on April 11,1914 and she survives. Mr. Fox was a farmer and a member of the Bethany Church of the Brethren. Surviving with the widow are four sons, Delbert, Nappanee, Dewey, Milford, Robert L., Warsaw, and Dallas, New Paris; one daughter, Mrs. William J. Berkey, Goshen; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grand-children; one brother, Floyd of Nappanee; and one sister, Mrs. Ruth Rogers of NewJParis. Rev. James McKinnell officiated and interment was in the Union Center cemetery. Mrs. Winifred Frederick Services will be held at 1:30 Thursday afternoon at the YoderCulp funeral home, Goshen, for Mrs. Lillian Lucille Frederick, 47, r 2 Syracuse. She passed away Monday afternoon at Elkhart hospital where she had been a patient for three days, following a six month illness. Mrs. Frederick was bom at Goshen on November 27,1924 and resided in the surrounding area most of her life. Her marriage to Winifred Frederick took place in December 11, 1945 and he survives. She was previously employed at Essex Wire, Ligonier and a member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.

County RTA Receives Praise
The Indiana Retired Teachers Association office personnel saluted Kosciusko county with praise for retiring president Chesteen Chapple and his officers, along with incoming president Leonard Barnhart of Syracuse and his newly elected officers, for an outstanding program in July at the Winona hotel, Winona Lake. The Kosciusko county chapter had 82 members in attendance for the luncheon and program observing the installation of new officers and a tribute to their former outstanding local president and state retired teacher leader, Frank C. Sanders, Claypool. IRTA executive director Earl M. Utterback participated in the program and brief speeches were heard from Mr. Chapple and Mr. Barnhart expressing the need to enroll every retired teacher in Kosciusko county into the association.
