Economical Prices For State Fair Racing Program INDIANAPOLIS — The racing department of the Indiana State Fair has announced the final phase of it’s 1972 racing season with, new economy prices, that are expected to increase attendance by more than 20 per cent. Don Smith, Terre Haute, Indiana, director of the fair’s racing department, has set admission prices for the state fair century FIA-USAC new car race at $6 which is $2 down from last year’s $8 price. Hie world famous Hoosier hundred championship dirt track race has been priced at $7 which represents a three dollar savings over the 1971 event. Newly installed concrete
retaining walls plus double rail inside steel guard walls resulted in the midget race and the Indiana classic, presented earlier in the season, running without delay. Smith feels that a reduction in prices will attract larger numbers .of persons to the fairground’s oval and give all race fans an opportunity to see the Nations leading drivers in action. The century will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, with practice and qualifying getting under way at 12 noon E.S.T. and the feature event at 2 p.m. E.S.T. The Hoosier hundred is scheduled for 1:45 p.m. E.S.T. with practice and qualifying at 11' a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9. Announcement was also made that the century and the Hoosier hundred will have the traditional Hoosier infield with tickets priced at $3.
