ENGAGEMENT KNOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Cain of Milford have announced the engagement of their daughter. -Sandr?, to Jerry Lee Hedington. Hedington is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Noel Hedington of Tippecanoe. Sandra is a graduate of "■ Wawasee high school and is employed at Blue Bell. Her fiance is employed at Super Sweet in Etna Green. A September wedding is being planned. WSCS Holds Quarter Meet The executive committee of the Women’s Society of Christian Service of Calvary United Methodist church held its quarterly meeting this month with Mrs. Deloss Smith, president presiding for various reading, of reports. Mrs. Roy Wilkinson, treasurer, reported a donation had been sent to the Navajo Mission and a Love Offering had been received for missionaries Mr. and Mrs. Charles Forester. The chalk artist’s picture at the Mother-Daughter banquet in Oakwood hotel, attended by 135 persons,” was given to the children’s department of the church school. Mrs. I. J. Byland, second vice president, reported several funeral dinners were served by various circles of the society. Chairman of Christian Social Relations Mrs. Max Workman announced that the ice cream social previously scheduled had to be canceled due to other commitments at the church on that day however plans are being made for a bake and food sale, and the annual church bazaar. Mrs. Smith announced that Mrs. Ronald Sharp attended the 1972 School of Christian Mission at Epworth Forest and would give her report at the November meeting. She also announced that' the next scheduled quarterly meeting of the officers would be October 10. The next general meeting of the society will be September 6 with a carry-in dinner and election of officers. Garden Club Meets In Robbins Home Mrs. Don Robbins of Cromwell was hostess to the SyracuseWawasee Garden club this month with Mrs. Maurice Koher assisting. Guests were Mrs. Leo Noerot of Waterloo, Mrs. Miles Barton and Mrs. H. C. Yeager of Tippecanoe Lake. Mrs. Yeager gave the program on “What Makes a Good Flower 9iow” in conjunction with the local club flower show set for August 24 at Wawasee high school. The show is open to the public and junior gardner for exhibits of flowers and vegetables. Plans were made for a husbands party on July 24 at the William Brammer home, Lake Wawasee.

Mrs. Williams Entertains With Slides Os Ghana f The Milford Senior Citizens met for their second regular meeting on Sunday, July 9, at the fire station with a carry-in dinner being enjoyed by 27 members. President Harold Young opened the meeting in usual form with a salute to the flag and prayer by Rev. Lee Cory. Mrs. Dorothy Williams gave a talk which was illustrated by slides and a souvenier of her visit to Ghana. Happy Birthday was sung to one of the new members. A business session followed and the organization adjourned to meet again on Sunday, Aug. 13.

FAMILY CAMPOUT HELD RECENTLY A week end family campout was held recently at a campgrounds near Bristol. On Saturday evening a pig roasted over charcoal was the main dish. Milford Firemen Answer Two Calls Members of the Milford fire department answered two calls this week. The first run was made at 2 p.m. Monday to a grass fire on the farm owned by Raymond Pinkerton west of Milford. The second fire was at 11:15 on Tuesday when firemen were called to extinguish a tractor fire on the John Gingerich farm, also located west of Milford. Minor damage was reported to the tractor.

MRS. BILL LITTLE VISITING EUROPE Mrs. Bill Little, Vicki, Judy and Mackie of Milford left July 10 from O’Hara International Airport in Chicago for approximately six weeks in Europe. They plan to visit relatives, including Mrs. Little’s mother, Elizabeth Medart in Altdorf, West Germany. Mrs. Medart is 81 and has never seen her grandson Mackie. The Littles flew from Chicago to Frankfort then to Numberg. Miss Katherine Mato Weds Keith Huff At Saint Martins
The recent marriage of Miss Katherine Mato and Keith Huff was solemnized in St. Martins De Porres Catholic church at Syracuse. Rev. Eugene Zimmerman. performed the double ring cerranony before 150 guests at 12 o’clock noon. Mrs. Donald E. Fergison, r 1 North Webster and Ora Mato of Dunlap are parents of the bride. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Elva Hershberger, r 3 Syracuse and the late Ward Huff. Red and white carnations graced the altar and church pews were marked with white bows. Music provided by Miss Donna Huff included “Organ Variations” by Bach. Given in marriage by Mr. Ferguson, the bride appeared in a floor-length gown of white dotted swiss fashioned with boat neckline, empire bodice, chapel train and wide ruffled floimce at hem. The long, tapered sleeves were finished with a ruffled flounce at wrists and trimmed with embroidered lace as was the dress neckline and hem flounce. Her finger tip veil was held in place by a Camelot cap of white dotted swiss with embroidered lace and she carried a nosegay arrangement of white pom pon mums with touches of red. Miss Laura Mato, r 1 North Webster, served her sister as maid of honor. She was attired in a full-length gown of red and white dotted swiss which featured a jewel neckline, short sleeves, the bodice squared in lace and her short veil was held' by a red and white dotted swiss cap trimmed in lace to match her dress. Her nosegay was of white pom pon mums tipped in red. Norman Geible, Mishawaka was best man. The bride’s mother chose a street length dress of patterned, bonded knit in blue, white and gray. Reception A reception was held in the church hall immediately following the ceremony. The table was beautifully appointed with crystal candelabra and the layered wedding cake which was decorated with touches of green. Desserts, punch, nuts and mints were served with the cake. Mrs. Mike Mato was in charge of the guest book and Miss Donna Huff assisted with gifts. The newlyweds are residing near North Webster on the Epworth Forest road. Both Mr. and Mrs. Huff are graduates of Wawasee high school. Mrs. Huff is employed as cashier at Thornburg drug store in North
Webster. Her husband, who is a corporate owner in Round Table Riding Stables is attending the Fort Wayne division, Indiana university. Observe Silver Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wolfinger were honored at a reception by their children on July 16 in observance of the Wolfinger silver wedding anniversary. Robert Wolfinger, formerly of Constantine,Mich., and the former Evelyn Louise Sawyer of Syracuse, Were united in marriage at the Syracuse Church of God parsonage by the late Rev. Seeing the magnitude of the relief needs the Red Cross launched the emergency disaster appeal throughout the United States with the full support of United Way of America. Knowing the great needs of hundreds of men, women and children following these ravages of nature, Mr. Ringo again brings out the fact of the necessity of helping people who cannot help themselves.
