Pamela Beer, Clayton G. Koher United In Marriage On June 17
Pamela Kathleen Beer, granddaughter of Mrs. Otto Beer of r 1 New Paris and the late Mr. Beer, became the bride of Clayton Gerard Koher at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17, in the Goshen City Church of the Brethren. The new Mrs. Koher is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E Beer of 2104 South Main street. Goshen. Koher is the son of Mr. and Mrs Edwin E. Koher. also of Goshen Rev Dr. Nevin Zuck officiated at the double ring sen’ice which was attended by 500 persons. Music was provided by Dennis Rumfelt, organist and Roy Rogers. Jr., vocalist. The bride chose a gown of white silk organza over taffeta highlighted with a panel of pink organza extending from the high standup collar of the empire bodice to the hemline of the A-line skirt which extended into a chapel train. Venise lace interwoven with pink ribbon accented the gown A cloche of reembroidered lace held her butterfly veil of silk illusion and her bouquet was a petite nosegay of stephanotis. bridal pink roses and baby's breath, Miss Vicki Jennings was maid of honor Mrs Wayne Snider was matron of honor. Dainty reembroidered ribbon and selfruffle trim accented the high rise bodice, wrists erf the long full sleeves and formed a pinafore effect on the skirt of their gowns Each wore a white picture hat with pink ribbon streamers They carried small nosegays of white carnations and pmk roses. Angela Koher served as flower girl. She was dressed in a pink dotted swiss gown which was styled similar to the bridesmaids. Ron Peters was best man Edward Hussey. William Bigler. Bruce Schermerhorn, Robert Leamon and Douglas Koher were groomsmen Ushers were Mr. Snider. Phillip Moore. Robert Robbin. John Luke and Rick McGowen. Jeffrey Beer was ring bearer Miss Julie Whirledge of Fort Wayne served as hostess for the reception which followed. Mrs Charles Parsons of Indianapolis attended the guest register. Serving at the reception which was held at the Holiday Inn was Miss Cindy Collins, Mrs. Rich Pinney, Miss Sonya Romer. PLAN AVGUST WEDDING - A candlelight ceremony on August 19 will unite in marriage Miss Deborah Sue Jones and Steven Davids Edwards, son of Mrs. Helen Edwards and the late Alva Edwards, North Manchester. Announcement of the engagement and coming marriage has been made by the bride-elect's parents. Mr. and Mrs. Jack D. Jones of 2602 West drive. Fort Wayne. A graduate of North Side high school. Miss Jones is attending Ball Stale university where she is studying social work and psychology . She is employed as a case worker's aid with the Allen County Department of Public Welfare. Miss Jones has previously been a summer resident of Lake Wawasee. Her fiance graduated from Wawasee high school and also attends Ball State university where he is majoring in political science. The brother of Mrs. Donald Storey of Syracuse, be is affiliated with Beta Theta Pi social fraternity at Bali State. The ceremony will take place in The Crescent Avenue United Methodist church in Fort Wayne. ATTEND FUNERAL IN MISSOURI Mr. and Mrs Nathaniel Crow Fick of Crow’s Nest. Lake Wawasee. and Arlington, Va., were in Saint Louis, Mo., Saturday for the funeral of the latter's eldest brother. Marvin Louis Smith.

Twilighters Hold June Meeting The Twilighters Bunco club at Syracuse held its June meeting Wednesday night at the Syracuse Lake home of Mrs. Charles Searfoss with Mrs. Warren Benson assisting. Mrs. Richard Plikerd was a guest. Mrs. Gene Kitson received the high and travel prizes; Mrs. Gerald Bitner, low; and Mrs. Delbert Whitehead, door prize. Anniversary gifts went to Mrs. Kitson and Mrs. James Men ch. Mrs. Franklin Ringler received birthday gifts from the club and secret pal. The July meeting will be with Mrs. Robert Moser with Mrs. Eugene Henning assisting. Fondue Cooking Lesson At Leesburg Extension Club Ann Hancook, county extension agent, gave a lesson to the Leesburg Home Extension club last Wednesday evening on “Fondue Cooking.’’ During the lesson she explained the various sizes of fondue pots and the skill required for cooking of meats, vegetable and fruits to make them outstanding meals. It was emphasized that the various sauces used are a great benefit to the success of the meal. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Max Anglin and Mrs. Emra Stookey acted as assistant hostess. Mrs. Chris Kammerer, president, presided during the meeting The songs, “America'' and “Take Me Out To The Ball Game,” were sung. The second is the song of the month for the extension clubs in the county. The pledge to the flag and the club prayer were also given at the opening of the meeting. Various reports were given by the division leaders. The health and safety report by Mrs. Kenneth Miller urged members to be especially careful with their power mowers this summer, a garden report was given by Mrs. Stookey and the secretary’s report was read by Mrs. Anglin. Roll call was answered by 18 members and a guest. The books for the coming club year were distributed. It was decided to hold an ice cream social during Leesburg days, July 14 and 15th. The committee in charge is Mrs. Bertha Frederickson and Mrs. Hazel Kline. The meeting closed with the club collect and prayer. Refreshments were served by the hostesses. The next meeting will be on July 19 at the home of Mrs. Kenneth Miller. Vandalism Reported At Syracuse Over Week End Two juveniles were taken into custody by Syracuse police over the week end for spraying paint on a car, a speed limit sign and a children playing sign. A report was received from a home owner on the Pickwick Road of an attempt to pry open a storm door to the home. Damage was estimated at $75. .An advertising sign belonging to S & N Plumbing near their place of business was taken with value placed at SIOO. Three juveniles were taken into custody with restitution to be made for tearing shingles from a building located at 100 South Huntington street. Syracuse

The new equipment will be kept at the local funeral home until it is needed. The auxiliary has also donated S2OO to KCH and SSO to the local park fund. Vaughn-Mock Vows Exchanged
The Logansport Mall was the setting for the lovely candlelight wedding on June 11 uniting in marriage Miss George Anna Vaughan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Spence Vaughan of Logansport, and Steven Thurlow Mock, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thurlow Mock of r 3 Syracuse. Rev. James Holt of the Bethel Temple officiated for the double ring ceremoney in the presence of approximately 700 guests, at 5:30 o’clock in the evening. A flowered yellow, white and green bell-shaped canopy graced the garden setting for the wedding scene. Candles in hurricane lanterns flanked each corner and were lited by Goeorge and Wade Voltz. Twin 16-branch candelabra, a white trellis and kneeling bench, plus white gladiolus and mums with palms, completed the wedding setting. Rose Ann Golf served as soloist and Joe Ridenour organist. Selections included. ”We Have Only Just Begun.” and “First
Time Ever I Saw Your Face.” Bride In Organza The bride, given in marriage by her father, appeared in a gown of modified empire style imported organza over peau which extended into a sweeping chapel train. A sheer yoke pintucked Vbodice. high ruffled neckline and peaud’angle lace bodice with long-fitted sleeves, accented the gown. Lace medallions were scattered over the skirt and bordered the deep scalloped hemline of gown and train. Matching lace petal flowers outlined with pearls, formed the headpiece with a four-tiered illusion veil which fell to chapel length. She carried a cascade arrangement of cymbidium orchids, yellow sweetheart roses, French carnations and stephanotis. Attendants Miss Missy Hatten of Logansport and Mrs. Millie Voltz, Logansport, served as maid of honor and matron of honor, respectively. Bridesmaids were Linda Barry, Susie McKeever, Nancy Hartman, Patty Michaels, Susie Harrison and Toni D’Andrea, all ci Logansport. Miss Marsha Higgins was junior bridesmaid. Steve Strickler of Syracuse and Steve Lamontia, Logansport, attended the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Chris Barry, David Higgins, Anthony Vaughan, all of Logansport, Keith Dean, Peru, Tom McAffee, Kokomo, and John Babb, Muncie. Bill Michaels, Bob Dexter, Steve Ironmonger, Larry Quirk and Gary D’Andrea, all of Longansport, served as ushers. Mothers and grandmothers of the couple were gifted with corsage arrangments of while French carnations and stephan otis. Reception A reception was held at the mall following the wedding ceremony. Hostesses were Beerrl Bickel, Mary Hooton, Pat D’Andrea, Liz Higgins, Leslie Voltz, all of Logansport, and Marilyn Dean, Peru. c The bride, a 1972 graduate of Logansport high school, is employed by Neumode Hosiery in the mall. Her husband is a 1969 graduate of Wawasee high school and serves as manager of Musicland at the mall. A rehearsal dinner was given at a Logansport restaurant by parents of the bridegroom on Saturday. Following a wedding trip, the newlyweds are residing at 630 Sunset drive, Logansport. 27 Attend June BPW Meeting The Syracuse Business and Professional Women’s group held its June dinner-meeting at North Webster with 27 members and five former members in attendance. Plants were presented to the following persons for perfect attendance: Mrs. Earl Money and Mrs. John Craw, four years; Mrs. Chester Elder, Mrs. Robert Swager and Mrs. Georgia Buster, two years; and Mrs. Bill Coburn and Mrs. Robert Houser, one year. Incoming officers, also receiving plants as follows, were: President — Mrs. Craw, pink for wisdom Vice president — Mrs. Elder, green for growth Treasurer — Mrs. Swager, blue for loyal and justice Secretary — Mrs. Houser, red for courage Mrs. O. P. Davis received the door prize. An audit report for the year was given and plans discussed for the upcoming police and fireman’s fair.
New Salem By MRS. HERB MOREHOUSE DAVID BEERS GUEST SPEAKERS Rev. and Mrs. David Beer were guest speakers at New Salem Sunday. Rev. Beer delivered the morning message. Miss Susan Stone, student at Biola Bible college, California, sang “Law of the Lord” and accompanied herself on the guitar. A fellowship dinner was enjoyed at noon. Among the guests were Rev. and Mrs. Beer, Mrs. Beer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Harein of Wakarusa, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Beer, Jr., and. family, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Stone, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Deeter, and Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Smith. The evening hymn sing was led. by Max Shively and accompanied by Miss Cindy Rapp and Miss Elaine Kilmer. Miss Susan Stone played her guitar and sang “Psalm 55”. Mrs. Beer gave an account of her duties as a missionary wife in Alaska and Rev. Beer showed slides of his trip and service this past year in Alaska. The Beers plan to return to Alaska in August. -NSCAROLYN JOHNSON HONORED AT SHOWER Miss Carolyn Johnson of South Bend was honored Friday evening, June 23, with a miscellaneous bridal shower at the home of Mrs. Herbert Morehouse. Mrs. Paul Schermerhorn of Leesburg and Mrs. Dale Mock were co-hostesses. A miniature bride and bridesmaid on a miniature aisle carpet and tiny rose petals centered the gift center. Blue and white streamers and a silver glittered white bell also decorated the gift center. Contests were conducted with prizes going to Mrs. Howard Kreider, Mrs. Albert Mathews and Mrs. Frank Johnson. Mrs. Mock read different marriage customs and vows of foreign countries. Miss Susie Baker and Mrs. Bill Speicher assisted Miss Johnson in opening her gifts. Square nut cups to look like miniature wrapped gifts were made by Mrs. Schermerhorn. Frozen

OBSERVE 30TH ANNIVERSARY — Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith of 513 North Huntington street. Syracuse, observed their 30th wedding anniversary,in May. A famUy celebration is palnned in late summer when their serviceman son Gene returns to Syracuse on leave. Robert Smith and the former Maxine Holloway of Syracuse were united in marriage on May 9. 1942 by Rev. Deahl in the Syracuse Methodist church. They are the parents of three children, Mrs. Edward (Sharon) Leamon’. Mrs. BUI (Linda) Cripe, both of Syracuse, and Gene, now serving in Viet Nam. They are blessed with three grandchildren.

Past Matrons Hold Initiation Service The Past Matrons club of 1 Syracuse Chapter No. 283 Order or the Eastern Star held its an- I nual initiation service at the j home of Mrs. Everett Dunn in I North Webster on Tuesday with I Mrs. Robert Murray and Mrs. 1 Frank Bates as co-hostesses. 1 A white altar had been ** prepared and under the direction of the president, Mrs. Robert Murray, assisted by the members, Mrs. Harry Gingerich, junior past matron of Syracuse chapter and a past matron of Gary chapter, was formally ’ initiated in the beautiful candlelight ceremony of the club. Bowls of red roses were used as decorations. A fruit salad dessert, wafers and coffee were served. After the regular business meeting, games were enjoyed and prizes won by Mrs. Arnold Pfingst. Mrs. Joe Bushong, Mrs. Deloss Weaver and Miss "* Margaret Freeman. The door prize was drawn by Mrs. Edgar Kuhn. The next meeting will be held on September 5. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Berkeypile and family of Milford and Mrs. Hazel Kline of Leesburg were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smoker at Warsaw. The occasion marked the 16th birthday of the Smoker’s daughter, Debra.
