Wawasee Seniors Honored Following are graduation parties and receptions held following commencement exercises at Wawasee high school on Sunday. LANA MAE BUHRT Lana, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Buhrt of r 1 Syracuse, was the guest of honor following graduation exercises on May 28. She was received by relatives and friends at her home. Lana is working at Maple Leaf Farms, Inc. and will be attending International Business college at Fort Wayne this fall. She will be taking up secretarial studies for one year VICKIE SUE PRICE Mr. and Mrs. Everett Price of r 2 Leesburg are the parents of Vicki. She was honored at a reception following graduation ceremonies on Sunday, May 28, which 50 relatives attended. Vickie is planning to get married July 28 to Steve Greer of Goshen and they will be residing in Goshen. Vickie plans to work following her marriage. SANDRA JEAN STRAND Sandra Jean Strand, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elwood L. Strand of r 1 Warsaw, was honored by friends and relatives at a reception held June 4. Enrolled in the fall quarter at Massey junior college in Atlanta, Ga., Rhonda will be in the division of the Fashion Institute of America. DANA AND DAVE BERGHORN A party was given for Dave and Dana Berghorn, Sunday after graduation exercises at the high school. Relatives and friends attended. Dana plans to attend Ball State university as a pre-law student and Dave plans to attend Purdue university. The boys are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Berghorn of r 3 Syracuse. JAMES V. GAFF Friends and relatives attended a party to honor James V. Gaff after graduation, Sunday. Jim, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vearl Gaff of r 1 North Webster, is working as an orderly at the Goshen hospital and is considering taking some courses at Goshen college KATHERINE MARIE MATO A small reception was held far Katherine Marie Mato, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Fergison of r 1 North Webster. Kathy plans to continue working at Thornburg's Drug store and at her father’s riding stables. She is also planning a wedding this week end. SUSAN KAY BROWN Approximately 25 persons attended a party given for Susan Kay Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William R. Brown of r 1 Warsaw, after graduation ceremonies, May 28. Susan hopes to find work in the near future and plans to major in elementary education at Fort Wayne Bible college this fall. Golden is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kuhn of r 1 North Webster and is employed at the Lynnwood Bakery. Becky, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Stutzman of North Webster, plans to attend Ball State university with a major in science. She has been working part time at Grassy Creek restaurant. Arlene and Louis Schaefer are the graduate’s parents. Joe is now working at Holiday Rambler of Nappanee in the engineering department. He would like to follow a career in drafting. KERRY DEE BARRETT Kerry Dee Barrett was honored at a reception at his home after graduation ceremonies, Sunday. Relatives and friends attended. John is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Rhodes of r 1 Warsaw. He is now working at Sea Nymph at Syracuse and would like to attend Purdue university as an engineering student. k JAMES A. KRASNANSKY After the graduation ceremony, Sunday, several friends and relatives of James Andrew Krasnansky met to honor him at a small reception. Jim, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph R. Krasnansky of r 1 Pierceton, plans to take courses in nursing at the I.U. Purdue extension in Fort Wayne. PAULA LAURETTA BRIGHT Paula Lauretta Bright celebrated both her high school graduation and a birthday at a get-together Sunday afternoon. Twenty-six people were present. Paula, who works part-time at the Al-N-Dee Grill, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bright of North Webster. ANNE MARIE DAVENPORT A Sunday afternoon reception was given for Anne Marie Davenport, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Davenport of r 1 Warsaw. Mrs. Lloyd Mynhier furnished a cake for the gettogether. Anne works at the Warsaw nursing home and plans to take nursing classes at the I.U. Purdue extension at Fort Wayne. KLM LEE NEIBERT Friends and relatives, some from Kentucky, Ohio and Minnesota, honored Kim Lee Neibert at a reception held at his home after graduation ceremonies. Kim is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Neibert of r 1 Leesburg. Kim is presently working with his father and plans to attend Grace college. He is considering becoming a C.P.A. DONALD DAVID THOMAS Relatives from Ohio and friends attended a graduation party held in the Church of God basement for Donald David Thomas. Don is the son of Rev. . and Mrs. Lewis E. Thomas of North Webster. He plans to attend Anderson college.
Graduation Is Held At Wawasee Prep
Graduation services were held the last of May at Wawasee Preparatory school, Syracuse, with its first two girl coeducational students to graduate. Sandy Chapkowski of Syracuse and Susan Strasser, Goshen, both attending for one year, graduated. They are the daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Cook of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Strasser of 506 Carter Road, Goshen. Honors Thomas Veldman of South Bend presented the va|edictory address and two other seniors, Don Sabina of Marion, and Mark Sisko, Patterson, Nr J., were honored. Sabina was the class salutatorian and Sisko received the Father Thomas Brandon Memorial English medal. He held the highest average in English for the four years attended at Prep. Student Council Has Picnic At Lake Wawasee After the awards program Wednesday afternoon the Milford junior high school student council journeyed to the cottage of Dawn Price on Wawasee Lake. After a “cook in” before the big fireplace, the students were taken for a boat ride. Syracuse Church Os God News The Syracuse Church of God held its annual congregational business meeting on Monday with elder Paul Yeager serving as chairman. Annual reports were heard. Representative of the commission on education of the Indiana conference, Wilmer Frederick, presented a report on the proposed multi-purpose building at Bear Lake camp. He listed the needs for such a building and various ways of financing the proposed project. Further discussion was tabled until a later date. A lengthy discussion was held on whether or not to revise five specific sections of the constitution of the church. The congregation voted by ballot to approve the revisions proposed. Election of officers was held as follows: Elder, Paul Yeager (reelected); deacon. Jerry Stutzman; deaconess, Mrs. Gerald Secrist; trustee, Louis Firestone; treasurer, Mrs. Jack Elam (reelected); youth, Mark Koble; adult S.S. superintendent, Gary Firestone; assistant adult S.S. superintendent, Euguene Druckamiller. Others elected were: church pianist, Mrs. Ralph Bushong, and assistant Mrs. Richard Coy; adult choir director, Mark Wagner, and assistant, Ralph Bushong; chorister, Mr. Bushong, and assistant, Carroll Koble.

Local Honors Local persons honored were Mr. and Mrs. William Kerfin loyal and faithful friendship and service; Mrs. Leonard Barnhart for over 10 years as secretary and assistant accountant for the school; and Berton Kolberg for school bus assistance following the death of a Prep Brother and driver. Those elected for church school offices were: chorister, Mark Koble, and assistant, Cheryl Hadley; pianist, Mrs. Richarjj. -"* Coy, and assistant, Mrs. Walter Willjams; secretary, Mrs. Arnold and assistant, Cheryl Hadley. Those serving in ' the junior department (church school) will be: Assistant S.S. superintendent, Mrs. Ted Grindle; chorister, Mrs. Gary Firestone, and assistant, Mrs. Overfelt; pianist, Debbie Grindle, and assistant, Craig Koble. Mrs. Ralph Bushong was unanimously elected with standing vote to continue atr director of the youth choir. Mrs. Bushong chose to have Debbie Grindle to continue as pianist. Mrs. Richard Coy was elected news reporter. Council members whose terms do not expire are: elder, Jack Elam, deacon, Joe Hibschman; deaconess, Mrs. Joseph trustees, Bill Stutzman Gerald Secrist; clerk, Mrs. Oliver Hibschman; youth, Beth Elam; and junior department superintendent, Mrs. Carl Hadley. A meeting is scheduled for June 21 to discuss the building program for expansion of classrooms and a possible increase to support Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hibschman, missionaries in the Philippines.
