•KEN AND RUTH DAY' — Sunday was "Ken And Ruth Day" at the Calvary United Methodist church, located south of Syracuse, as Rev. Kennard E. Robinson delivered his farewell sermon after serving as pastor of that church for 14 years. A dinner was held in the afternoon at Oakwood Park hotel in honor of the Robinsons.

Farewell Sermon By Rev. Ken Robinson

"Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.” Rev. Kennard E. Robinson made these closing remarks of Apostle Paul to the Corinthians his own in his farewell sermon Sunday from the pulpit of the Calvary United Methodist church, located just south of Syracuse. - Rev. Robinson has served as pastor of this church for the past 14 years and has been granted a one-year sabbatical leave by the Methodist Church Conference to join the Billy Graham Association He will serve in the state of Indiana counseling young folks on drug abuse Saw Church Built He and Mrs Robinson came to Syracuse in June 1958 and were responsible for re-locating the Calvary church at its present site on road 13 south of Syracuse Rev. Robinson directed the building program for the new church which was dedicated in October 1961 and saw the dedication of the new parsonage in September 1965 In his farewell sermon, quoting further from Apostle Paul. Rev Robinson said, "I thank God on every remembrance of you ” He thanked the various church groups for the close cooperation and work done during the 14 years he was pastor of the church, asking his congregation to “stand firm in your faith which is built on a solid foundation which is that of Jesus Christ ." Rev and Mrs. Robinson will continue to reside in the area, moving soon from the church parsonage to a Bay Point condominium apartment. Mrs. Robinson, a second grade teacher in the Syracuse elementary school, will continue m that position Also included in the Sunday services at the Calvary United Methodist church was a gift for three members who are 1972 graduates of Wawasee high school: Linda Shively, Margaret Appenzeller and Paul Van Dyke. Rev. Robinson announced that the estate of the late Wilma Hire has been left to the church as a bequest 'Ken And Ruth Day' The day for the church was marked as "Ken And Ruth Day." with a special dinner held in honor of Rev. and Mrs Robinson at Oakwood Park hotel. Few people have the courage to resist the crowd, even when they know the crowd is off base.

Graduates From University Os Maryland Nathaniel Crow Fick, Jr., of Lake Wawasee and Arlington, Va., has completed his courses this week on the College Park. Maryland campus, and will graduate on June 3 from the university college with an AB degree in government and politics. He first attended the University of Maryland Overseas branch while a member of the armed forces in Europe.
