I :j: facts about *OUR TOWN* <• ¥ Milford, Ind. •*¥S:¥r¥:¥:¥SS:¥S:¥:¥SS:«:¥:«ft¥:¥;¥is

Bv JERI SEELY Monday will be a big day for Our Town. MAD and the American Legion are joining forces with other organizations in making it a special Homecoming, day. The events will begin early in the morning when the Fellowcraft club of the Masonic lodge will be serving breakfast to the public between the hours of 6 and 8 a.m. The traditional Memorial Day parade which is sponsored by the American‘Legion will move out at 10 a.m. from the junior high school. Featured in the parade will be the cutie king and queen.

Services will follow at the cemetery with Thames Mauzy of Warsaw, state representative and Mike Hamilton, pastor of the Plymouth Ghurch of Christ, formerly ot'Milford, both participating. Mike is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hamilton of Our Town. Following the services a chicken bar-b-q will be held at the junior high school grounds with proceeds going to the fire department to help pay off the debt on the recently purchased radio equipment. At 11:30 the annual cutie king and queen contest will be held. Current king and queen are Todd Felkner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Felkner of Milford and Debbie Mundy, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Mundy of r 1 New Paris. The volleyball tournament will be held at 2 p.m. with bicycle races at 3 p.m. All in all it promises to be an entertaining and perfect way to spend Manorial Day. Did you notice the poppy display in Lavin's window? It was a project of the Legion Auxiliary and was very appropriate.

Bob and June Spearman of r 3 Syracuse are proud of all five of their children but this week they are especially of their oldest son and their oldest daughter. Both have their pictures in the paper and believe it or not the reason is the same. Both are being recognized for achievements in track. Pat, a Wawasee high school senior, received the most valuable in track award and the award for being second high point man on the team during a convocation at WHS on Friday. In the Milford junior high invitational with members of the Milford, Syracuse, Pierceton, Warsaw, Avilla and Towncrest Girls Athletic Associations participating, Lorene was the over-all individual winner with firsts in the 50, 75 and 100 yard dashes. In the first two she set new records. Ginn's is now open for business in downtown Milford. Mrs. Ed (Virginia) Amsden is now located in the former Brittsan building with many interesting items on sale. How about the beautiful weather over, the past week end. Here's hoping it holds for the holiday!
