Syracuse Library Notes
By BONNIE BJELLA The book club for grades 1 thru 5 at the Syracuse public library starts June 1 and ends August 9. Awards Day will be on August 11. The theme this year is “World Traveler.” Each child, with his own **suitcase” sets out, with his library card as his round trip ticket, to visit many interesting places of the world. Travel stickers from countries and continents the world over transforms the suitcase into a record of the “travels” of each child. Stickers will be awarded for any book read by the child in his or her own grade or reading level. Kindergartners may enter in the “Owl” listening division. For each book read to them, they may put a feather on the “Owl.” There will be a limit of three cards to each child which will equal 30 books. On awards day, the children will receive a ribbon for reading one book or more and a reading certificate for reading 10 or more. Plan to enter the “Club” early so reading can be a pleasure and not a race against time. The library will be closed on Memorial Day, May 29. Proved A man recently won a bet by entering a restaurant with a lion. He wished to prove that waiters could move quickly.
