Indiana State Commencement To Be Sunday Evening, June 4

TERRE HAUTE, - Indiana State university will confer 2,056 degrees on students and four honorary degrees in the 101st commencement exercises here on Sunday evening, June 4. Weather permitting, the exercises will be conducted outdoors on the campus quadrangle and will open with the traditional processional starting at 5:45 p.m. (EST). In the event of rain, the exercises will be conducted in the ISU arena. Sister Jeanne Knoerle, S.P., president of Saint Mary-of-the Woods college, will deliver the commencement address. The honorary degree, doctor of laws, will be conferred upon her and upon Dr. Wilfred C. Bain, dean of the Indiana University School of Music; J. Area Students Graduate From North Manchester College

Diplomas were received by 16 seniors of Manchester college from Kosciusko county during the college's 83d annual commencement Sunday afternoon, May 21. Degrees were awarded those who will complete the requirements for graduation by September 1.

The exercises were held on the college football field at 3 p.m.

Dr. Richard A. Matre, vicepresident and dean of facilities and professor of history, Loyola University of Chicago, will deliver the Saint Francis college commencement address on Saturday, June 3. The ceremonies will.be held at 6 p.m. in the Allen County Memorial Coliseum. It is expected x tha>-465 master and 171 baccalaureate candidates will be awarded diplomas by Sister M. JoEllen Sheetz, president of the college. Before assuming his present position. Dr. Matre, who holds a master of arts in history from Loyola and a Ph. D. in history from Northwestern university, was associate professor of history. Then from 1965-1969 he was dean of Loyola’s graduate school.
