Mrs. Mike Zimmerman. Mrs. Gene Lew and Mrs. Ralph Karst ed of Milford served on the nursing staff for the Red Cross bloodmobile’s Winona Lake visit last week. The next visit of the bloodmobile to the county will be May--23 when it will be in the North Webster area. Mother s Day is this coming Sunday. Don’t forget to remember your mother on her special day. Members of the United Methodist church in Our Town will dedicate their library on Sunday. It is to be known as the Martha Groves memorial library in honor of the late Miss Groves. Bud and I managed to do a little work although not as much as we had hoped so we’re counting on good weather for next week end so we can finish some of the jobs we started. Rain on Monday cancelled out the Lions annual candy for Cancer sale but they will be out in full force on Thursday with their candy. Money from the annual sale is for the purchase of a new cancer treatment machine, the 35-MEV Linear Accelerator, which the Lions of Indiana have pledged to purchase at a cost of 1750,000.

PLANNING SUMMER WEDDING — The engagement of Miss Nancy Jo Gunderlock of Milford has been announced. Miss Gunderlock and Raymond H. Cumberland. Jr., are planning a summer wedding. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. Mary Gunderlock of Milford and George Gunderlock of Cicero. 111. She is a graduate of Wawasee high school and is currently attending Manchester college where she is treasurer of East hall and a member of the dorm council. She is pursuing an education in business administration. Her fiance is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond H. Cumberland, Sr., of North Manchester. He is a 1967 graduate of North Manchester high school. He served in the army for two years and is currently attending DeVry Institute of Technology in Chicago. Nine Week — (Continued From Page 1) present year. Also approved were pay increases for non-certified personnel Secretaries and aides presently start at $1.86 per hour and reach a maximum of $2.56 per hour. The new scale approved sets the beginning hourly rate at $1.89 and a maximum of $2.66 per hour. The new range of pay for custodians has a beginning rate of $2.80 per hour reaching a maximum of $3.70 per hour for night custodians with more than four years of service. Cafeteria cooks will receive a pay increase from $1.95 per hour to $2.05 per hour, while the head cook will increase from $2.22 per hour to $2.32 per hour. The new pay scale established l for bus drivers sets the base pay at $9.30 for one mile and nine cents per mile from two-21 miles and 10 cents per mile for 22 miles and up The old base was $9.15 for four miles, eight cents per mile for five-15 miles, nine cents per mile for 16-39 miles and 10 cents per mile above 40. The express rate was also increased from $5 25 per day to $5.40 per day. Other Business In other business before the board certificates of payments to be forwarded to Lakeland School Construction Company, Inc., were approved in an amount of $100,657.79 and certificates of payment for Lakeland Community School Corporation were approved for $7,377.96 Request for approval of Sharon O’Hare and Jane Wieczork as homebound teachers for Steven Keim and Gregory Marchand were approved. Fine Arts On Display At Wawasee This coming Saturday and Sunday, May 13 and 14, promises to be a time for the display of Wawasee high school’s fine arts talent. The art and music departments will be involved in the spring review on Saturdayevening at 7:30 in the auditorium and the art department will have its art and crafts show in the commons on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The Wawasee concert choir will appear on channel 22’s Homemaker’s Time on Friday at 9 a m. The students will leave by bus at 7 a m. and return to the school by noon. The selections for the television program will be taken from the concert program that is to be heard on Saturday evening Those people attending the music concert on Saturday may view the art display in the commons after the concert. The art and crafts show will include drawings, pastels, paintings, prints and sculptures which are the creations of students from beginning art classes through the senior year. The craft class will display its work with ceramics, sculptures, batik, decouqage and mcrame projects. Some students will demonstrate their work in various media during the afternoon. Judges for the art display will be Dr. Leland Moon of Shelbyville and Mrs. Diane Selig of Syracuse. The judging will be done previous to the afternoon display. Water Ski . . . season is here again and the youth center membership is helping the Wawasee Ski club get its new jump ready. Assisting in putting together, painting and virtually "readying” the jump for Lake Wawasee, seems to create great interest for the youth center membership, since quite a few of the kids are in the ski club! Altho. other center members are helping, guided by the expert assistance of Jerry Thornburg, director of the Lakeland Youth Center and president of the Wawasee Ski club. The youth center members are spending a couple of afternoon hours each day at the home of Jake and Susie Kern, to help with this project. This skiing activity will create much involvement for all people, adults, young adults, and kids, (hiring this summer. If you or someone you know enjoy water skiing make it a point to contact Jerry Thornburg and attend the membership meeting on Sunday, May 14, at 1 p.m. at. the youth center Ski shows weekly and competitive tournaments are but a few of the summer highlights. The youth center held a dance on Wednesday night last and it turned out to be very popular with the “music scene" group Syracuse Junior High Honor Roll Syracuse junior high had 52 students earn a place on the scholastic honor roll during the fifth grading period. Eighteen students earned a place on the distinguished honor roll by earning no more than one "B" with all remaining major subject grades being A. The honor rolls follow:

Mother's Day Service At Church Os God The Syracuse Church of God will honor all Mothers during the morning worship service on Sunday. May 14. The “Welcome to Mothers" will be given by Jill Hammel and Mark W’agner will give a reading. Jack Elam will make the presentations to the oldest and youngest mothers, and to the mother with the most children. There will be special music provided by Craig Koble. a mixed quartette consisting of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bushong and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Firestone, and the youth choir will be singing under the direction of Mrs. Bushong, accompanied by Miss Debbie Grindle. Something new this year will be a “Parade of the Babies.” Several Injured As Vehicles Collide North Os Syracuse Two westbound vehicles on U.S. 6 north of Syracuse collided around 2 o’clock Monday afternoon as one vehicle attempted a left turn onto the Huntington Road at the same time as the other driver attempted to pass the first vehicle. James D. Stamper. 28, Warsaw and driver of the auto involved, was taken by private ambulance to Elkhart hospital for possible internal injuries and lacerations of the head and hands. His passenger, James A. Brewer of Warsaw sustained lacerations of the nose, bump to the head and a left wrist injury. . The Ohio driver, Alvin E. •Van Fleet 43, of Toledo and driver of a 1971 Peterbilt semitractor trailer for the James Reitzel Trucking Co., of Perrysburg, Ohio, was not in-, jured. Stamper attempted the left turn onto the county road and both vehicles traveled 106-feet up an embankment before coming to a halt at the edge of a farm field on the southwest corner of the intersection. Ronald Brumbaugh, following the truck, stopped to assist after witnessing the mishap. Elkhart county authorities investigated and listed damage of $2,000 to the semi rig and the auto, valued at S2OO. was totaled. No Injuries In Car-Truck Collision An auto driven by John Gamer, 22. box 274 Leesburg, and a truck driven by Forrest McCarter, Jr., 47, r 1 Jones, Mich., collided Tuesday, May 2. on SR 15. Both vehicles were southbound at the time of the accident. The collision occurred two miles north of Warsaw and resulted in $675 in damage. The Gamer auto was estimated at S6OO and the truck at $75.
