More Parking Ordinances For North Webster In a letter from the Indiana Highway Commission, it was announced that parking on each side of state road 13 from county road 650 North to the Lake Webster road is prohibited, effective April 10. This letter was ready by North Webster town board president James Greiner in Wednesday's meeting. * An ordinance Is being prepared by town attorney Robert Reed to restrict parking near the entrance to Augsburger's Food Palace: The ordinance is to be signed soon after preparation so that it may be enforced as heavy summer traffic begins. Word has not yet been received from Senator John F. Augsburger concerning his

It was reported that Annabelle Ryan is interested in being hired as a school crossing guard at $3 per day beginning in September. This is being taken under advisement. A street repair report was given by Paul Royer. The board was to meet at a later date to inspect streets in preparation for the advertisement for_street resurfacing bids \ The Northern Indiana Public Service Company has been notified of burned out street lights in town by town marshall Tony Strombeck. Complaints from citizens had also been received by board members The next meeting will be June 7 at 7 p.m. at the fire station.
Honor Roll For North Webster Is Released North Webster school principal G. Wendell Bryant has released the junior high honor roll for the fifth grading period. On the eighth grade distinguished honor roll are Jane Fawley, Debbie Engelberth, Kathy Koenigshof and Marlys Staley. Eighth grade regular honor roll students are Rhonda Miller, Pat Hougey, Ralph Reiff, Holly Barrett and Laura Kunkle Caryl Coy is the seventh grade distinguished honor roll student. On the regular honor roll for grade seven are Cara Wagoner, Margie Jones, Fran Weicht, Marcia Pifer, Steve Badskey and Linda Reiff. Mark Walgamuth, Janet Rhodes and Teresa Blue attained the sixth grade distinguished honor roll. Those listed on the regular sixth grade roll were Brent Stutzman, Greg White, Mary Clark, Stuart Bryant, Denise Barrett, Beth Reiff and Teresa Beezley. —NW— Women Hold May Birthday Dinner Mrs Joe Barrett was hostess for the May 2 meeting of the Anna Bower WCTU. It was the annual birthday carry-in dinner meeting Two ladies honored for their birthdays this month were Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. James Rothenberger. An after dinner meeting was opened by the president Mrs. Lawrence Wilcoxson and devotions were led by Mrs. John Denbo. A white ribbon service for Brian Linn Rose was conducted by Mrs. Barrett and Mrs. Wilcoxson. Mrs. Denbo gave a legislative report also. Members discussed drug legislature and voting. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Clarence Mock. —NW— Secrist 65 Holds May Meeting Ten members and one guest, Mrs. Stanley Hamman. Jr., attended the May meeting of the Secrist 65 Extension Homemakers club. The meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Larry Teghtmeyer. with Mrs Terry Bowser as co-hostess. Voting was discussed as a citizenship topic. Garden remarks were (Mi tulips and were given by Mrs. Brock Van Meter. Mrs. Sharon Pearl gave a description of the Lakeland School Corporations special reading program. Roll call response was, “The Job I’d most Like to Hire Done.” German chocolate cake was served Mrs. Jerry Badskey won the door prize Mrs. Russell Moore will be the hostess for the next meeting.
Lady Lions Have Hawaiian Buffet Approximately 90 attended a Hawaiian buffet supper for the Lady Lions and their husbands at a North Webster lounge, Friday. A special guest was State senator John F. Augsburger. Guest speaker was Ken Lewis of Anderson who spoke on “Motivation and Co-operation.” —NW— From The Kiwanis News Letter Thirty-three members were present at the last Lakeland Kiwanis club meeting. Oliver Will was a guest. Otto Fultz was back from Florida and Keith Smallwood was back after a leave of absence. An election of officers had the following results: President — Jerry Badskey President-elect — Bob Day Vice president — Pat McCarty Treasurer — Dave Everts Directors — Bob Morgan, J. R. Koher and Dan Watson. Varner Chance showed slides of his trips abroad with youth groups and talked of their experiences. —NW— Legion Auxiliary Make Plans For May The Mother and Daughter banquet for Auxiliary members and junior members is to be held Tuesday evening. May 16, at 6:30 p.m. A pot-luck supper will be featured. A coke session will be held for Girls Staters, their alternates and girls who attended Girls’ State last year at the Legion hall Sunday afternoon, May 14. Similar sessions will be held at Legion posts in Pierceton, Milford, Syracuse and W’arsaw. May 19 and 20 are the days that junior members will be selling poppies. The American Legion Memorial Day parade will begin at 11 a m. on Monday, May 29. —NW— Cub Scout News Cub Scout dens I, II and IV are all working on skits to be presented at the pack meeting at the end of the month. Dens I and II also worked on Mother’s Day gifts. Den I had five present at the last meeting, with refreshments provided by the leader. Den II had four present; Brian Walls provided refreshments. Den 111 worked on Mother’s Day gifts and selected a denner and assistant. Keith Enyeart, Jr., is the denner and Mark Harreld is his assistant. Jay Harreld furnished refreshments for the eight boys present. Den IV had seven present. Denners are Rod Feller and Lysle Haney. Rod Feller provided refreshments. Eight Webelos braided rope belts at Monday’s meeting.
Plan For Re-Routing Os Traffic For Festival Parade The North Webster Lions club, through Gary Eastlund, obtained permission of the county’s three commissioners to close a part of state road 13 for the annual Mermaid Festival parade, which it sponsors. Road 13 will be closed from county road 500 North to county road 650 North from 3-7 p.m. on June 24. Local police, state police, sheriff’s department officers, Kemrad and American Legion volunteers will join in re-routing traffic during that time. Rerouted northbound traffic will follow county road 500 North to county road 675 East and then north to county road 650 North and back to the highway. —NW— Club Members Enjoy 'Mom's Night Out' The Charm ‘N’ Chatter Extension Homemakers club enjoyed “Mom’s Night out” at a Nappanee restaurant last Monday. Nineteen members and two guests attended. The guests were Mrs. Harry Vemette and Mrs. Paul Royer who gave a program of slides on a European tour. An installation of officers was conducted by Mrs. Gilbert Baumlee. The new officers are: President — Mrs. Robert Ritchie Vice president — Mrs. Harpld Anderson I Secretary — Mrs. Clifton Schang Treasurer — Mrs. Vem Hunt. The June 5 meeting will be held with Mrs. Marvin Ward of Goshen. # —NW— Girl Scout News Mrs. Sue Davis has begun working with the girls in Brownie Troop 63. Fourteen girls were at the last meeting. Mother’s Day gifts are being made. Brownie Troop 101 began practicing for the May 15 fly-up and bridging ceremonies. Twenty-three girls were present. Mother’s Day gifts and poems for cards have been started. Rhonda Baldridge furnished refreshments. Junior Troop 156 also practiced fly-up and briding ceremonies Sixth graders led the flag ceremony for the meeting. The girls took a hike through town and purchased treats with money collected from dues. Twenty-four were present. A cook-out was planned for the next meeting. Twenty girls, nine nd two troop leaders attended the Father and Daughter picnic of Junior Troop 178 last week. A game of softball was played and all firmed the friendship circle in closing. Five girls in Cadet Troop 16 helped Kathy Koenigshof celebrate her 14th birthday with cake and lemonade. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Barrett visited Mr. Barrett’s father, Hollice Barrett, at the Home hospital at Lafayette last week. Mr. and Mrs. Royal Kline of South Bend enjoyed a dinner with Rev. arid Mrs. J. L. Kline at a North Webster restaurant recently. The bloodmobile is scheduled to be in North Webster May 23. Woodrow Beezley and Carl White have returned from the Cleveland Clinic. Elido Conrady has been admitted to the Veteran’s hospital in Fort Wayne. Ward Robison of r 3 Syracuse was dimissed from the Goshen hospital. Mrs. Audrey Harman and daughter Kim and Willard Kramer of Rudolph, Ohio, visited with Mrs. Alfred Kuhn and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Harman Saturday. The ladies’ auxiliary of North Webster firemen prepared lunch for election board officials at the fire station and at White’s Mobile Service May 2. Ist Lt. Daniel Sullivan Leaves For Viet Nam First Lieutenant Daniel J. Sullivan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kip" Sullivan of near North Webster, left Baer Field, Fort Wayne, on Monday, April 17, for Viet Nam where he will serve with the 362 d Fighter W'ing near Da Nang. He was scheduled to land at Travis AFB near San Francisco, then go to the Philippines for a four-day course in jungle survival before going to Viet Nam. He will fly an unarmed reconnaisance plane in the war zone. Lt. Sullivan and his family were stationed at Yokota AFB, near Tokyo, Japan for 11 months, leaving there for the United States Feb. 4 before going on the Viet Nam tour of duty. Mrs. Daniel Sullivan and son N|att are residing in North Webster. Dan is a 1965 graduate of North Webster high school and a 1969 graduate of Hanover college. SPEND WEEK END AT TIPPY LAKE Mr. and Mrs. Frank Striker of Arlington, Va., were week end guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. C. Yeager of Tippecanoe Lake. Mr. Striker has been chief of the Branch of Cartography of the United States government department of Interior until his retirement three weeks ago. Mrs. Striker is well known for her flower arrangements in Washington circles and internationally known for her conducted tours for those interested in Japanese flower arrangements, and tours of Japan, England, Scotland and Malta, have been led by her.

May 2. The mishap occurred 75 feet west of S. Bronson St., as the Keesey car was headed southeast on Winona and the Carey vehicle was westbound on Winona. Estimates of damage was S4O to the Keesey car and S3OO to the Carey vehicle.
