Become Part Os 366th Tactical Fighter Wing The GunFACers of the 20th Tactical Air Support Squadron (TASS), longtime teammates with the Gunfighters, officially became part of the 366th Tactical Fighter Wing this month. Young Allen (Gene) Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith of Syracuse, is a member of TASS and serving at DaNang. Long term residents at DaNang, the 20th TASS pilots have been directing air strikes for close air support of troops and trails interdiction since the early 1960’5. The 20th TASS has been awarded the air force outstanding unit award three times now and has also earned the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Stolen Car Found In Wreckage A 1964 Chevrolet Bel Air four door sedan belonging to Judy Hackler of Milford was reported missing sometime around 12:30 a.m. Saturday from a parking place behind the Anchor Bar in Syracuse. Syracuse police received a call at 3:45 a.m. from Leo Tackett, address unknown, that an auto was wrecked and left at the site which was at the crossing of county roads 350E and 1100E. Upon investigating, the wrecked car was the Hackler Chevrolet which authorities theorized missed the turn and ran partially up a guy wire doing damage to the front end of the vehicle.
Wheels And Rims Stolen Syracuse police continue investigation into a theft sometime Friday night of rear wheels and rims of a new 1972 Chevrolet Camero at the Cutter Chevrolet parking lot on South Huntington street in Syracuse. The theft was discovered Saturday morning and the auto had been jacked up or lifted onto cement blocks for removal of the wheels. Value was placed at $l5O. Booked At County Jail Kenneth E. McKinney, 34, of Albion and latest address at Bay Point, Syracuse, was arrested and booked at the Kosciusko county jail early Friday morning by Syracuse police for driving under the influence of intoxicating beverages, public intoxication and speeding. He was later released on bond and will face the charges in city J court at Warsaw.
