Lakeland Women Bowlers Hold Dinner-Meeting

' The Lakeland Women's Bowling association held its awards dinner meeting Monday night at Maxwelton Golf club with 69 in attendance President Mary Lou Dixon presidled for the business portion at which time various proposals were voted in the decisions made on local dues, financial aid for the Land O'Lakes Junior Bowling association and for delegates to the slate and national conventions Salaries were set for the secretary and treasurer for next season The proposed tentative budget was also accepted

Prize monies and trophies for the second annual tournament held locally were presented by secretary Kathryn Knisley The Kale Island Beacon team was in charge of dinner arrangements and Regent Homes team had reservations and door prizes , High School Bowlers Hold Banquet The Tuesday Afternoon high school league held its bowling banquet at Wawasee Bowl last Thursday with 26 in attendance at which time trophies and patches were awarded. Capturing first place was the team of the Alley Kings, composed of Kevin Knisley, Rick Ever. Tim n and Dan Mock. High game handicap for the boys went to Mike Morganthaler with a 239 and Marjorie Trammel for the girls with a 236.. Dan Mock took top honors for high series handicap with a 652 as did Kathy Richardson. 585 High scratch series went to April' Hapner, 480. and Eric Paradis 619. High scratch game winners were Kris Byrket 192 and Alan Brown 223. Patches for high average went
to Kris Byrket, 137, and Eric Paradise. 164. Charles Packer, with a plus 22. took honors for the most improved average as did Sandy Maggart for the girls with a plus 13. Door prizes, following dinner, went to Fred Traupe, Bob Clemons. Steve Hann, Jan Davis and Suzi Snowberger Land O'Lakes Juniors Hold Tournament The Land O’Lakes Junior Bowling association held a doubles and singles tournament Sunday at Wawasee Bowl south of Syracuse. Breaks Record Tim Stidham broke a record for the highest game ever rolled at the bowling lanes by a Junior bowler when he rolled a 286 game, just 14-pins short of a perfect game, for a 594 series Stidham holds a 138 average, is 14-years-of-age and bowls on the Tuesday afternoon league A special trophy will be awarded him by the association and the bowling lanes for his game scratch. Other trophy award winners were Rick Neff, handicap singles series. 644; and April Hapner, handicap senes with a 538. Eric Cobum took high handicap game with a 239 as did Rhonda Byrd with a 199. Scratch Actual senes scratch honors went to Eric Paradis with a 536 and Gail Brown. 389. The handicap doubles series went to Dan Mock and Tim Stidham for a total of 1.234. The Meyer Maidenburgs have purchased the Morrison Island home at Syracuse belonging to E. J. Baker. Mrs. Earl Treadway of Syracuse has sold her apartment building to Joe Todd and Edwin McCarty

Wawasee Athletes Honored At Northern Lakes Banquet
Several Wawasee high school athletes were honored at the Northern Lakes Conference banquet held at North Wood Monday evening. Chip Dy e was honored for being the 107 pound wrestling champion and John Hamilton and Jeff Hughes were named to the NLC first team in basketball. Wawasee placed second in the final conference wrestling standings and third in basketball standings. Lakeland Teams Place Second At Warsaw The combined junior high seventh and eighth grade wrestling teams placed second at the Warsaw invitational on Saturday. First place honors in the seventh grade event went to Belmont while host Warsaw won eighth grade honors. Individual Lakeland seventh grade winners were Shock and Stidham of North Webster and Stevens, Bauman and Stouder. all of Syracuse. Individual eighth grade winners were Doll of Milford and Preston, Yoder, Rinker, Luttman and Wright all of Syracuse. After a short business meeting . the Goshen College Players presented the play, “The Day the Sky Went to School’’ by Nora Sterling. This play was published** by Family Service Association of New York and produced in cooperation with Family Counseling Service of Elkhart, The next meeting will be April 10 at 9:30 a.m. with the program to be given by Mrs. Audrey Russell of the Youth Service Bureau in Elkhart. The Milford United Methodist church will be hostesses for the coffee before the business meeting.
