CLINTON HURSEY Clinton Hursey is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hursey of r 1 Cromwell. This year he is taking two periods of ag mechanics, auto mechanics, agriculture and government. Mechanics and shop work are his favorites. Clinton has been in FFA for three years and is a member of the Albion Conservation club. After graduating he plans to work for the state police. He has a sister. Cynthia. 16, a junior at Wawasee and two brothers. Harlan. 14. an eighth grader at Syracuse junior high and Jim. 12. in the sixth grade at Syracuse. Hunting, fishing and trap shooting are his favorite sports. Hunting, fishing, trap shooting and collecting Indian relics and rocks are his hobbies. -WHS—THOMAS FRIBLEY Thomas Alan Fribley is the son of William and Lucy Fribley of North Webster. Tom is taking physics advanced physical education, senior English government senior math and personal finance management. He comments on the fact he likes all of these subjects. He has been a member of the Lettermen’s club four years and is currently serving as president; he has been on the football and basketball teams for four years; the tennis and track teams for two years; the baseball team, FTA. national honor society and student council for one year. Tom plans to attend college and either enter accounting or the FBI. He has one older brother. James Edward. 19. Football is his favorite sport. Invigorating sports are his hobbies. Cindy, a sophomore and Laura in the sixth grade at Syracuse “Nigger" by Dick Gregory is his favorite book His hobbies are meeting new friends, listening to good music and having a good time. - WHSBARBARA RUSH Barbara Alise Rush is a WHS senior who lists reading, writing and swimming as her hobbies. -She plans to enter Manchester .college in the fall as a math major. Barbara is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rush. She is taking physics. English, band, government, senior math and personal finance management this year. Math is her favorite subject. National Honor Society for one year. Barbara is a member of the Saint Andrew’s United Methodist church. She has been named the school’s DAR Good Citizen and a National Merit Scholarship Commended Student. She has an older sister. Ann, 21, a student at Manchester college and a brother. Bill, 16. a sophomore at Wawasee. This senior works at Klink's Supermarket. Her favorite sports are football and baseball “An American Tragedy” by Theodore Dreiser is her favorite book. - WHS—ROGER SMITH Roger Dale Smith will be moving to Florida within a year after his graduation. He is the son of Donald Smith and Mrs. Margaret Payne. His address is 507 S. Main St.. Syracuse. Roger is taking government, personal financing and management, physical education fdr two periods and advanced art 111. Physical education is his favorite subject. He was a member of the freshmen basketball team, played intramurals and varsity baseball four years, and has been on the track team for two years. A member of the boys cheerblock, he has been Chief Wawasee for two years. He has been a member of the Lettermen’s club for three years, art club for two years, ski club for two years and the industrial arts club for two years. He belongs to a drum and bugle corps and was named pitcher of the year in 1967. One of several children, Roger’s sister Vicki is now Mrs. Vincent Hamada of Florida, his brother Micheal Bruce is 20 and works at Syracuse Rubber, another brother, Douglas is 17 and is a junior at Syracuse and Terry Ann is seven and in the first grade. Roger loves all sports, mostly water skiing, baseball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, football and gymnastics. “Gone With The Wind'x is his favorite book. His hobby is lifting weights. Tammy Truex Wins Milford Spelling Bee
Tammy Truex, an eighth grader at Milford junior high school, won the Milford spelling bee last night. The bee was held as part of the February meeting of the Parent-Teachers organization. Tammy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Wales Cory She will represent the junior high school in the county spelling bee. Runner-up in the contest was Sylvia Hemandez. a sixth grader and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Hemandez. She will represent the elementary’ school in the county contest. New Salem By MRS. HERB MOREHOUSE SPECIAL MUSIC ON SUNDAY Rev. and Mrs. Rader Hawkins of Brazil, South America, and Bill Hawkins of Winona Lake were a trio which gave special music during the morning worship hour. Pastor Lewycky’s morning message “The Longest Prayer,” or “Lord. Where Shall I Hide My Bible?” was taken from Psalm 119. The evening hymn sing was led by Dr. Robert Schneider. Rev. and Mrs. Rader Hawkins and son Bill and Mrs. Hawkins of Winona Lake sang special numbers of music in both English and Portugeese. Rev. Hawkins taught the congregation a chorus in Portugeese and told of his missionary experiences and the conversion of a witch doctor. -NS—CRUSADERS CLASS MEETS ON SUNDAY The Crusaders class met Saturday evening in the church fellowship hall for their Valentine’s party. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Scheider’s wedding anniversary was also celebrated. The tables and other decorations were in keeping with Valentine’s Day. Several games were played. The heart-shaped anniversary cake, popcorn, rolls, candy hearts and orangeade were served to Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tom. Jr., Melissa and Melodie; Rev. and Mrs. David Lewycky; Dr. and Mrs. Robert Schneider, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Miller; Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Johnston; Mrs. John Mullinix. Marianne and Marcia; and Miss Doris Tom. Mr. and Mrs. John Stetler were hosts for the evening. —NS—COMMUNITY NEWS Roscoe Kinney underwent knee surgery Thursday evening in the Elkhart hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Morehouse returned to their Syracuse home after spending two weeks in Rochester, Minn., where Mrs. Morehouse underwent tests at the Mayo Clinic. Dale Morehouse spent three days in the Goshen hospital last week suffering from a kidney stone attack. • Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mathews entertained with a fresh fish supper Saturday evening for Mrs. Edna Tom, Mrs. Curtis Cripe, Mrs. Vida Losey and Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Morehouse. Mrs. Guy Morehouse, Miss Sheri Hackworth, Bob Lashure and Mr. and Mrs. Ron Tyler, Todd and Aldron of Nappanee were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Morehouse. David and Loetta. Todd Tyler’s birthday was celebrated. Afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Everett Morehouse of South Bend and Mr. and Mrs. John Morehouse and daughters of Goshen. Miss Diana Morehouse accompanied Mr. ahd Mrs. Foo Wong so Florida for two weeks vacation. Ed Smith was a Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mathews.

Wawasee Student Leaves For South America
Wawasee high school junior Caron A. Carr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carr of r 4 Syracuse, will leave tomorrow (Thursday) under International Fellowship, Inc., with home offices in Buffalo, N.Y., for Cartegena, Colombia, South America, to spend the next three months as an exchange student there. She will arrive at Barranqiiilla, a two-hour drive to Cartegena, around 6:30 Friday morning, their time. Located on Caribbean Sea in the area of the Panama Canal zone, Cartegena is a city of about 320.000 and temperatures range between 70 and 80 degrees year around. Dating to around 1533, this older city is divided into three areas, one of Spanish origin, one of colonial and a more modem sector. Miss Carr will be staying in the home of Senor and Senora Carlos Alberto Hoyos and family. The Senor is general manager of a bank at Cartegena. ' Children of the family include
Winter Concert Set For Tomorrow
The winter concert schdeuled for Thursday evening at 7:30 in the Wawasee high school auditorium will be presented by the concert orchestra, cadet choir, women’s choir, cadet band, concert band and concert choir. The numbers chosen for each organization to perform are varied in style so that they will be of interest to all of the audience. Boy Scout Troop 47 To Present 'Operation Reach'
Milford boy scout troop 47 will present “Operation Reach,” a drug abuse prevention plan on Monday night, Feb. 21 in the scout cabin for the scouts and their parents to discuss “Operation Reach" and to launch it on its way. Any adult or any boy 10 years or older is welcome to attend this meeting. Scout troops everywhere are participating in this program. The February 7tb weekly meeting of the troop was a busy one. Three new boys joined and the scouts extend a welcome to Alex Morris, Jr.. Ricky Linville, and David DelaFuente. There were two new patrols formed during the meeting. The Crow patrol with Ed Vanlaningham as patrol leader. Kent Lindzy, assistant. The Flaming Arrow patrol with Jeff Hoerr as patrol leader and Mike Pippenger as the assistant leader. Crow patrol presented a skit on dope during the evening for the rest of the scouts. Saturday night. Feb. 12, found Scoutmaster Robert Vanlaningham, senior patrol leader Norman Vanlaningham, and assistant senior patrol leader George Susan at Pioneer Trails scout camp attending a meeting on "Operation Reach.” Monday night. February 14, found the scouts again busy at the scout cabin. Patrols grouped separately and worked on Operation Reach plans for next Monday night. A class lesson was given and demonstrated on the care, handling and sharpening of knives and axes. Mike White, the new Webelo leader was a guest at the February 14 meeting.

A total of 250 students will participate in this concert. They represent each grade level. The public is invited to attend the program. Speech Team To Have Barbecue Members of the Wawasee high speech team will be sponsoring a chicken barbecue at tjhe school this Saturday between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. Tickets for the event may be purchased at the door and carryouts will be available. The menu will include one-half of a chicken and baked beans, relish, dessert and drink. Honored On 12th Birthday Diana Lazano, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Lazano of Milford was honored on her 12th birthday last Friday when nine girlfriends and her brothers and sisters went roller skating.
